One of the GOATs and Nadal. What a strange duo 😂 In all seriousness, the fact that Rafa was pushing him on so hard just highlights how important he knew it was to keep him engaged. A lapse in focus and the whole thing was over.
Looks like Tomic was inspired by Nadal to be his partner and he elevated his game. It seems he is good in Doubles too. Sometimes we just need the inspiration to be better. 😻
Tomic had a difficult upbringing with his dad as coach and I think a lot of his own controversy was based on how he grew up without a good support system. Just a guess, but I think Nadal paired with him for the sport and to help him personally...also both styles are a great combo together.
It's actually pretty impressive how calm Tomic's forehand is. Not a lot of power, but precise. It's what my tennis teacher taught us; don't swing with all your exaggerated power, but get the power out of your swing. Or, at least, that's what I think he meant haha!
Why do the keep saying tomic (tomiK). They can clearly pronounce Djokovic (DjokoviCH) and Ivanovic (ivanoviCH). It’s a serbo-Croatian origin. Would do they need to Americanise everything ?
maybe Tomic can play more doubles, seems good for him. For all his tanking and stuff, tennis is a lonely sport. Not everyone has that mental fortitude. Look how well Tomic played here. He didn't want to let Nadal down.
Whether Tomic returns to tennis or not he will always be always to say he played doubles with Rafa…not many can say that outside Federer and a few of his Spanish compatriots
Void bet because he retired a set down 😂😂 I’m surprised the GOAT didn’t retire altogether after facing the humiliation of losing a set, then giving up against the mighty Donald Young. Surely a career all time low, even if said GOAT would argue he didn’t lose, he just gave up.
They should do more doubles matches tournaments and equal money if not more for the doubles. People really enjoy doubles matches. Too bad they get so less money as compared to singles. Also they should ban fluorescent colors on court, esp tennis ball colors. Too harsh on the eyes.
fluorescent colours do 2 things: 1. they help distinguish players from each other rather than just everyone wearing washed out colours and 2. it helps the ball show up on court and on the screens far better than just washed out stuff

He didn’t do it for that reason bro
tbh tomic has his dad as his tennis coach and his dad had controversy
thats why he isn’t motivated
Tomic saving all his energy for this match
"come on bernie" lol
Tomic was so lucky...got to play with Rafa. Rafa is an excellent mentor to him..keeping him calm and collected
Nah wdym bernard the goat tomic carried him, nadal is such a weak player compared to our goat

Tomic should specialise in doubles. He's good. I think he likes having a partner on court.
Same as nick and kokinakis!
Mate Nadal did all the work here. Hes not good at all
@@lammie001 He's good. I think doubles suits him better because he doesn't have the fitness for singles.
@@lammie001 just because he didnt hit as much winners, but he reacted well to a lot of fast smashes

Yeah but now his career’s pretty over

Tell that to the next gen baseliners hitting bazookas. Well, that's all they know, afterall!
He hits through the ball very flat. It is deceptive and not actually that slow, it only looks that way because of the swing path.
I’m allways impressed when watching tomic I allways think his forehand is going out then it goes in
I love how motivated Tomic was! Go Tomic :D
1:08 I think the commentator made a mistake. He meant the great Bernard Tomic.
The real question is who hit who up to play with the other.
Credit to Nadal for being open minded to playing with Tomic. He didn't have and, and definitely nothing to gain from this except maybe for memes.

Rue, when was this ?
Was this an exhibition match?
No, it was at Indian Wells
Nadal is my favourite tennis player
