Thank so much for letting me going with you and Thomas. I had a great. The steam squids were delicious with ginger fish sauce. My wife loves eating the squids as well. Thanks!
@@Fishing247 sorry that I got seasick because I was not prepared. I thought we will go for halibut until the last minute. I will be more prepared next time. Again, thanks for having me on this trip.
I spent 2 years on okinawa back in the 60's. We got squid, dried, in a cello pak and ate it like potato chips . Very good eating. I bought some at the market and made heads and rings using Louisiana Fish Fry coating and they were delicious fried. Never had a bad squid. Good video Thuy. I bough all that equipment for my 15 footer lake boat lol. I already had it. Never been inspected.
@@Fishing247 i did not know that i was in the video. I was told that eating more foods will help to reduce my seasick. After eating more foods, it helped. Will take seasick medication next time if the weather is too rocky.

Thanks. A fishing trip is a journey for me so I love to record the whole trip with out an in. I hope to cross paths with you. Say hello if you see me because I can't recognize you.
Great video... I'm curious, do you fine tune your fishfinder at all to find the squid? I've only got a Garmin 4 stryker, been out in that area several times on my kayak but haven't managed to land any squid yet. I hear that the squid markings are much fainter than a big bait ball of fish. Just wondering if I need to adjust my unit at all (I pretty much have everything set to default)
What you saw on your fish finder is squids. The bites depends on currents and their mood. Sometimes they are down there and will not bite on the jigs. Smaller jig hooks work better. I bought the small hook and make my own jigs and it works better.
Good morning Thuy!! Back in the mid-60s I never gave the Coast Guard a thought. They were simply never mentioned, kind of a well-kept secret! I enlisted in the Air Force but got drafted into the Army while I was waiting to go in. Hindsight being 20/20 I sure wish I would have enlisted into the Coast Guard right out of high school!! Squid question: I have only fished for them once on a party boat for bait. I used one of my homemade Subiki rigs, it did well but they have small barbed hooks. Do you think I should buy a true squid rig? They just fall off the hooks. The only time I have gone for the squid was that one time but you never know what the Captains will be doing.
Thanks brother for watching and comment. I had great interactions with these young Coast Guards. They were very nice. You should buy squids jigs with no barbs so it easy to unhooks them. When you caught them, just reel them up steadily without stopping. I sometimes used sabiki jigs but I have to work to get them if the barbed hooks.
The boat safety check list are the same for all the boat I think. I have a small 15 ft aluminum and still need the same safety check list. Big boats need to have ladder. You can go to DMV to get the boat registration. They can give you the citation or warning if you don't have all the requirements.
@@Fishing247 I thought it might be Avet. I don't mind that it's not a level wind. The free spool is very fast and I'm used to manually guiding the line when retrieving.
Some info. CA law is anyone under 16 for life jackets. And a tip I was told like 30 years ago, don’t tighten the line on the pole so much it bends the pole. Keep just enough tension to keep the hook on the pole. But putting it so tight that it bends the pole can form the pole with a permanent bend if it’s in the sun for long periods or exposed to a lot of heat like left in a vehicle during the day.
Thanks for your tips. I just did that Temp for transporting back to the launch and will cut out all the rigs. I require everyone on my boat to wear a lifevest.

Great video. I love some squid. I remember going fishing for squid in WA state with my dad off the pier.
I love squids and seafood. I just discovered a couple years ago that fresh love squids is the best . Thanks for watching.
Good job guys I need to go try
The squids have been around for 3 weeks. Go get them Oleg. Near the red can in Monterey.
You need to bring some soy sauce & Wasabi to eat with the squid anh Thuy. I'm definitely gonna try it next time I catch some live 😂
It is better without soy sauce and wasabi. I do not want they are overpowered. Just want to ti taste the squids. Thanks for watching
Great video! Good info on the CG too.
Thanks.

Monterey? Very nice! Have to try it one of these days!
Need to get out and try. So not delay. Thanks for watching.
Good video. Always glad to watch your videos. I have a question? What is the best season for squid fishing?
It depends. Usually June through August
Is it free to launch at Break Water Cove? Do they charge for parking with trailer?
It is not free. You have to pay two parking, one for trailer and one for your car. There is no water to wash your boat.
Nice 😊
Thanks 😊

What's the blue reel you're fishing with?
It is an avet which is belong to my friend Thomas. I do not know the model number. I am not a friend of avet because it has no line winder.

What size weight do you like when squiding?
Use the light weight. From 2 to 5 onces. Also use light action rod so you can feel the squids latching on the rig. Good luck
