Great breakdown! Definitely checking out the install video before I put in my Mr Cool DIY next week 👍🙂
Hey y'all, good job making another Mr. Cool video. I was looking all over for install videos and one of yours really helped. I installed a 12k btu diy Mr cool in my 500 sqft shed-house and while it's incredibly efficient, I had to supplement the other side of the house with a portable unit. My added tip is go way overkill if you are trying to get the most out of one of these units!
As far as the process goes, it's very straightforward, follow the instructions and buy the additional mounting kits. And if you're not confident about the electrical, you can always learn.
Thanks y'all, also, the Texas Boys sent me 👍
I have a 16x40 and have used a mini split for a couple of years. Very efficient. We bought 2 more this year for 2 small apts. Love them and I am also in Texas. Super easy. We did choose to keep the outside unit off the ground. Just make sure you buy the pre charged unit. I bought mine off of marketplace. 12k btu
Awesome info thanks for the video 👍
Absolutely helpful! 👍
Good tip on installing the lines straight out the wall! Other reviewers say the line sets can be installed in either direction depending on applications but it’s clear yours were poorly done the first time.
Perfect timing! We have been discussing buying one of these for our house!
I hope you love it. We are really happy with it.
Nice work, looks legit. Now that we’re moved down here from Idaho we are looking at barndo style. I am taking a year off to build and this looks like a good thing. I take it they have bigger sizes for DIY? Y’all have come a long way over the years. You show and have way more confidence in what you’re doing and talking about now Beau. Our rental house is so poorly done I can’t even stand it....
Glad I watch this episode I've been thinking about get a mini split for my log home for a long time now.
That’s so great, we are loving this mini split for sure!!
I will get one of these unit 😊👍
This winter is going to be my first winter running with MR COOL. (DIY 4 Zone Unit) For AC, I have 0 complaints, this thing really cools my house in less than 15min.
That’s so awesome to hear!!!!
Bo your Amazing you got ALOTTA Skills & Know SO Much~WTG❣️ 👍🏼 😊
Hi..... Thank you for showing your video homestead 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 🎥👍👍👍
Cool vid. Pun included.
Beau rants!!!
In the 3.5" hole I used a conservative amount of window foam, because it doesn't really expand that much. If you use it make sure that you don't have a kink
Hey y'all thanks for the video. You have given great advice on land exposure I looked in Texas for land the prices just quadrupled and taxes are just like new Jersey anywhere I looked ...oh and Florida it's just as bad car insurance cost double . I found the place in Alabama closing July 9th. ... Need to find the video how you converted the shed going to try to do the same thing. What's the shed company name when you have a chance please let me know thank you.
Great summary! Do any of you have experience of using these units in a 'cold climate'? I have heard they do a much better job that in the past using the latest technology etc....
We are going to be putting on a 500' addition to our house with a finished basement also. The main floor will have an natural gas fireplace that can supplement when needed, and in the basement I was thinking o fusing electric baseboard as supplement when needed.
Our winters can get down to about -30 degrees on occasion, but more typical is in the single digits for overnight lower and teens during the days.
Show us step by step how electrician did the connection so we can do it ourselves. I know you have to buy a separate breaker and plug both cables into then put the breaker back on the box. But I would need a visual to do it.
I'm just wondering if this is low enough efficiency to be able to use with solar. Thanks for sharing. 🤠
What size breaker do these units need and what gauge wire did you use to connect the unit to the disconnect
Hey @Mr Cool: Still waiting for my Mr Cool T-shirt 😏
Laughing so hard hearing a man say, "Read the instructions!" 😂
When I called Tough Sheds they said for a 24x30 shed without window, just the shell, would be over $50k
Keep in mind you don't necessarily need a huge shed if you take advantage of the outdoor space. You can have one main shed and a kitchen shed or outdoor kitchen or separate bunkhouses for teens/visitors. Or build big covered porches. There are lots of different ways to set these up.
So what exact heater air conditioner do you have?
Thank you very much. From other videos I've seen. When MrCool sponsers the video, they send you all the tools. Otherwise they are not included.
Oh gotcha!!! That is good to know, thank you!!
One quibble.
You left the suburbs a few years ago, so not really suburbanites anymore...
👍🏻😁
I applaud your move.
Yes….. but yet we like to speak to the suburban dreamers that DREAM OF HOMESTEADING!!! 😁😁
How big is your unit you installed in the large shed.
How big is your DIY unit in the livable large shed.
It's really sad when you walk into something like install in your main house or worse, I know I've seen them. I then spent 12+ years doing Tech Support for installers and many installers who had to clean up after installs like that.
Let us know in about a month in August how it works as far as keeping cool in August 😊
They’ve had me cool in their shed house for at least one (I’m pretty sure 2 or 3) full Texas summer and they loved it.
We’ve had our mini splits for 2.5 years. So yup, when installed properly and with good insulation they work GREAT!!!!
@@BetterTogetherLife so then it acts as a heater and an ac? I would like to add this to a large shed for my dogs
@@JJ-gr7th Yes, the unit is actually a heat pump, so they both cool and heat.
How much are the units?
How many sqft is the studio
Isn't not better a cooler?. You connect the hose them it goes to a coil and a fan would blow fresh air.
Do the mini-split systems make much noise when running?
Dude the Mr cools are ninja-quiet
I recently installed a 4 Zone DIY unit, 9k,9k,12k,18k. The 18k air handler being the bigger one of all, is pretty quiet to the ear. You can imagine for the rest since they are smaller.
Are you a Mr.Cool Influencer?
Hmm, well they did sponsor this single video by providing me the mini split unit.
But I don’t make any additional money from them. I do enjoy the product.
Does that make sense?
Dont be scurd of a lil electrical work
