You still will end up needing a case for each lipstick.. it’s almost like they might as well sell them that way and then sell a “refill” cause if you want to have multiple colors, you will end up either having to use up a color or buy cases... and maybe by then you won’t be interested in lush lipstick.. so not much of a waste saver at that point
well done lush. even if it is a bit messy, its worth it to save on plastic.- i also like the idea you could potentially bring in old lipstick cases. I hope these come to the UK

You should try how well these melt! I'd rather melt them and turn them into a lip palette than buy a case for each and every one 😅 My indecisive ass wouldn't be able to buy just one and stick to that one
I feel like the messy nature of getting the lipstick into the bullet adds some fun into the mix, I think the interactive nature of the product is really cool and is true to all other lush products. I may end up picking one of these up!
I *love* the low waste concept but it's also $$$. I'm also concerned about the packaging waste that would come from protecting these during shipment? Not quite sure how that would work, but it seems like something to think about with the loose wax. Edit: Lush has biodegradable shipping packaging!! Super cool.
@@orchdork775 Lush use biodegradable packing peanuts! They're made of cornstarch and they're really cool, if you get them wet they turn sort of gluey so you can build models out of them lol.
I think it's great that they took criticism and again sent out a product for review to the same gals that made a public criticism..it shows that they truly care to put out great products, they take constructive criticism like a good brand should, and they value good feedback. SO many companies get butt hurt and outcast anyone with even a slightly negative opinion and it just looks petty and immature. LUSH is proving, again, that they're a bomb ass brand with an awesome mission, great products, and they're constantly innovating.
If you pop it in the freezer you can easily switch out the lipstick bullets, you can pull it out with wax paper or a paper towel so the heat from your hand doesn't warm it again. I do this all the time with my limited edition packaging.
My only concern is for people who leave their lipsticks in their purse in the car. That metal casing will heat up a LOT faster so I would be VERY mindful to take my bag out of the car.
I loved that lipstick on Kat, it had about the same colour as what she wore under her eye, and the effect was beautiful. The colour Hailey chose, is the one I would have chosen as well. I hope that you will try more of them.
Sarah _Dagobah they could have gone the same kind of route with the foundation and had a resizable foundation stick case and had replaceable foundation logs. They could be totally encased in wax like the lipsticks so don’t melt during transport etc.
Couldn’t you use the part of the label that has the color and name as a label on the case? Tear it off and stick it on the bottom, especially if you have multiple ones
I'm loving this SO much!! I love the simplistic vintage glam bullet and the product has gorgeous shades, formula looks great, and the ingredients are vegan and should be super moisturizing. I think it's great that lush is constantly innovating new products, taking criticism and going back to the drawing board. They have such a great mission as a brand that I sincerely love..I'm happy for them that they seem to have come pretty close to perfect with this new cosmetic product. I personally think I will be buying this..I love the moisturizing wear and a sheer wash of color for a natural makeup day. It's nice to wear something other than a matte liquid lip 24/7 that is super popular right now.
Lush is leading the way in innovative cosmetics that don't cost the Earth. Love love love!!! And hey it seemed like a bit of fun peeling the wax off and placing it in the bullet!
I'd be willing to bet they're formula doesn't reflect it either. I doubt these are anywhere comparable to for instance a Mac lipstick which is a similar price. Their foundation was just oil and pigment.
@@meinkanta mac don't make everything by hand or ethically source their ingredients though... Plus these are innovative, not bog standard lipsticks so you're also paying for the work that went into making them. Can't compare lush to mac in that way it's not a close enough comparison.

just a thought, they might be easier to handle if their cold. The lipstick and wax surrounding it get harder, it's easier to insert it into the bullet and it might be easier to peel the wax layer.
I feel like you'd be better off melting or pressing these into a palette. The lipstick itself seems really expensive for not including a component, which is usually the most expensive part of a product.
Kelly Loraine These are more expensive because of Lush’s brand. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Lush is a vegan brand (I believe everything is vegan- there might be a thing or two that isn’t), they use all biodegradable ingredients, even the packing peanuts, and they pay their employees a 100% livable wage. Lush is honestly a great company, even if some of their products aren’t the absolute best.
I like lush because I love an insane amount of fragrance. Much to the dismay of those around me. But they are just too damn expensive. High end prices. I went to repurchase their Karma perfume and I couldn’t believe how much the price jumped. They never have a sale except wanting to get rid of old stock. Ok rant over.
Tracy Honestly, I’d rather pay more for lush products. Most, if not all, of their products are vegan, biodegradable, and they also pay their workers a livable wage and don’t outsource to sweatshops like some brands. I’m all for supporting a company like that. Just remember the “extra price” in Lush comes because of those factors. Not out of greed, but because they need the money to continue doing the good things they’re doing. Of course they want to make a profit as well, but they do it far more ethically than a lot of other counties. Even their packing peanuts are made out of starch and are biodegradable! It’s insane.
I love this concept for sustainable lipsticks! This is the only beauty concept lush has come out with I actually like. I gatta give this a try. I'd love to see other brands use a concept like this
I honestly wasn't expecting much from this launch.... BUT I freaking love this now. I love the fact that you can buy a lippie and just stick it in a tube you already have. Innovative and cancels waste altogether. Bravo Lush! Now I just need a good nude shade lol
It's not innovative at all. They stole the idea from some vintage lovers and sustainable people that are making their own lipsticks at home and use vintage containers to store it. It's not innovative, they just ripped off what conscious people do for years and used it for profit. It's a company that makes millions, not sustainable at all. They say they care for the environment, really? When they used tons of non biogradeable glitter they were? Also I've heard that they don't do everything they claim.. Don't believe companies, believe in your self and make your own products.
Regarding the not knowing the name thing, will that little round label stick on the bottom of the component so you know after you have peeled the wax off x
To keep track of which color is in the tube at any given time, you can take the circle part from the label and put in on the bottom of the tube, where brands typically put the shade info!
When Lush came out with their naked products, lipsticks made the most sense to me for the idea. Just weird they didn't come out with lipsticks first. That packaging does look nice and slim too, which is cool. Thanks for the demo, ladies! And Kat, I know you're not very comfortable in that lip colour, but it really does look so good on you!
I almost feel like their tubes were an afterthought. They look nice and seem sturdy and all of that... but with how snug the lipsticks fit into it, to the point of spilling over the edge and being a tad of a waste, it strikes me as weird. Like they were all ready to go with just the lipsticks and no tubes, but then someone on the team said "oh we should sell tubes too" and they scrambled to get some made in time for launch. They do look lovely on the lips, though.
@@shariwelch8760 Which is fair enough, I guess. I feel like it doesn't have to be THAT snug, though. Also, once the lipsticks were actually in, it looked like they were "attached" (for want of a better word) at the base rather than the sides.
They attach at the sides as well as the base, there’s no holding mechanism besides the sheer amount of product. That’s why some product shaves off the sides. It’s better to waste a small shaving that you can put on your lips anyways than it is to risk it falling out.
Wow, I just have say I love both of your guy's eye makeup. The eye colors each of you chose works so well with your skin and faces. I have to say you both look so much younger. The lip color you both chose also went well with your looks, Just stunning!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
The small circular tab with the lipstick name on it is meant to come off and be placed on the top/bottom of the lipstick bullet so you can rememeber the shade name!!
thanks for this video, I was curious about these. Glad it feels comfortable and love that they have ~14-18 ingredients and so far on the colors I checked on the website, no aluminum in these lipsticks! Those colors look great on you two and Kat totally loving those eyeshadow colors on you. I'm going to check these out the next time I'm in Lush.
Korri Roth I find that their color descriptions are often way off, especially Kat. I wonder if either of them have ever studied color theory or attended cosmetology school. I remember wanting to pull every hair out of my head when Kat kept calling the Urban Decay Backtalk palette a “cool toned palette”. Not even close.
Honestly for makeup artists, having products already 'depotted' to transfer into a foundation or lipstick palette for easy sanitization and use would actually be quite useful. Plus it would save so much packaging for people who are going to transfer them anyway :)
FYI you cannot buy these yet in the states and I called lush & they have no date for when they’ll be available here. Bummer because the shipping is just too much from UK.
That hot pink shade is stunning! Also that's a pretty good amount of product for the lipstick, plus the reusable tube. I know Lush isn't that strong in the makeup department, I'm going to try these out :).
It’d be really good if lush offered a free in store service where an employee refills the lipstick for you. I’m incredibly clumsy and wouldn’t trust myself with this at all 😂
love love love this bright makeup on you Kat! Interesting concept and not really that badly priced either, I might have to pick up that fuchsia shade...
Wow! Have a lippy that expired from Nude by Nature (they have beautiful gold packaging with magnet closure), feel sad to throw it away. So will keep and refill with Lush lippy! Need another berry plumish purple. NBN expires so fast (natural oils etc). though have to admit, love Lush lip cases!
I live this idea because it makes the price of limited edition lipstick packaging way more worth it imo, like that Loubouiton one I'd buy that now just to reuse the packaging!
I love the concept. A few kinks to work out, but I think I may get a couple shades. Maybe melting them down and putting them in like, a lip balm container where you use your finger would be better?
I love the lip colours you ladies put on the look great with your eye looks! 💜 i like that this is an alternative to for those who want a more sustainable option ☺️🌼
Kat, you look gorgeous in those bright colors!! (You both always look gorgeous!) :) The mauve shade looks gorgeous on Hailey, too! I'm glad you used the lipsticks in their container because it really helped show how compact they really are. I'd like them more if there was more control over the bullet itself. Still, something to check out. Thanks girls!!
This is so awesome!!! I 100% would prefer to pay a little extra for a long last product that is plastic free! Amazing work by Lush - I hope other brands take notice of this

I love this concept for sustainable lipsticks! This is the only beauty concept lush has come out with I actually like. I gatta give this a try. I'd love to see other brands use a concept like this
The wax packaging and case both need more work to be optimized imo
OMG I've never been so early! I'm excited for the video because I love the idea of refillable tubes like Hourglass
I love those vintage style bullet cases. I will probably switch over to these since I like only like 3 lipstick shades to wear
Regarding the not knowing the name thing, will that little round label stick on the bottom of the component so you know after you have peeled the wax off x
I seriously love that eye makeup look, that's dramatic colours done beautifully and delicately
I am not seeing these on the Lush USA website at all. :(
To keep track of which color is in the tube at any given time, you can take the circle part from the label and put in on the bottom of the tube, where brands typically put the shade info!
It has to be that snug, or it might fall out.
@@toasty_ghosty190 I suppose you're right. It's just too messy for my tastes, then.
You could also put them in a jar & use a brush if you wanted.
Kat the pink shade looks amazing on you! Especially with the eyeshadow you're wearing.
I wonder if it was the 4th lipstick from the swatches on Hailey's lips? Gorgeous, I'll wear it with pleasure 😍
Kat's eye makeup is so so so beautyful! I'm in love with those colors! 😻
i love the vintage cases. they look sleek and they dont look cheap like drug store ones do. also i tend to like vintage makeup stuff a lot
Love you ladies.
Sidenote: Kat they color combo on the eyes is super cute.👍
Not joking I thought they were tampons for a moment
Wow, I just have say I love both of your guy's eye makeup. The eye colors each of you chose works so well with your skin and faces. I have to say you both look so much younger. The lip color you both chose also went well with your looks, Just stunning!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
The small circular tab with the lipstick name on it is meant to come off and be placed on the top/bottom of the lipstick bullet so you can rememeber the shade name!!
This should've came with instructions
This episode was so much fun! The colors at the end were really pretty, too.
I like them! It's a cool zero waste thing, hopefully Lush has them on sale at some point so I can grab one :D
Aly J isn’t the wax waste?
Goon Cookie not in the same way plastic is, the wax is biodegradable
thanks for this video, I was curious about these.
“That’s a nice rosy nude”
Red.
I know I’m late, but I think they went with Rosey nude because it’s not a true red. I’d say rosey nude is a pretty accurate description
Both your eye makeup in this video is gorgeous 😍
Stick the name shade sticker to the bottom of the tube.
I’m incredibly clumsy and wouldn’t trust myself with this at all 😂
The colors you gals tried on looked gorgeous on you both! 💗💜 Kat be rocking the colorful-all-over-peacock look! 😎😁🌈
Nice review, thank you for this! Also glad to report you are not demonitized. I had Pat McGrath advertising... oh the irony!! 😂😂😂
love love love this bright makeup on you Kat!
I live this idea because it makes the price of limited edition lipstick packaging way more worth it imo, like that Loubouiton one I'd buy that now just to reuse the packaging!
came for the makeup and stayed for you two being adorable together
I love the concept. A few kinks to work out, but I think I may get a couple shades. Maybe melting them down and putting them in like, a lip balm container where you use your finger would be better?
I love the lip colours you ladies put on the look great with your eye looks! 💜 i like that this is an alternative to for those who want a more sustainable option ☺️🌼
Omg you both look gorgeous! Kat I adore the bright 90s color look on you, and Hailey you were looking real vampy and sultry ♥️
I don't know but I have a feeling this will save the beauty community, I'm obsessed I would so buy them and help our earth at the same time ✨✨✨
This is so awesome!!! I 100% would prefer to pay a little extra for a long last product that is plastic free! Amazing work by Lush - I hope other brands take notice of this
omg kat that pink is to die for! 80s barbie dreams!
So interesting, the Lush US site does not have the Naked Lipsticks listed. I could not find it anywhere. They are front and center on the AU site.
This is the exact video I needed when I was curious about these products! Some of these look nice and opaque. 😀 Thank you, Kat and Hailey!!! I think when I buy one, I'll put the little paper circle label on the bottom of my reused packaging. 😊
You can tape the label to the bottom hence why it’s a circle
Could you peel the sticker off and stick it on the bottom of the tube? I wonder if you could squish it in a little round container and use a brush.
I'd love to try these out, however I find these really messy for how expensive they are. I love the eco friendly packaging and design though!
I think it would be easier if the wax coating had two strips to extract the lipstick perfectly, but this is a great concept!
I wonder if you stuck them in the fridge or freezer for a little bit, it would help the wax come off?
