Yeah, they ordered the Smokey eye palette. I wish they ordered the mermaid palette to actually see the colours.
This palette made me so sad. Crayola being a master of so many different kinds of colors had a huge opportunity to make a great palette. And they choose so many bland colors that look all the same
Jen Crayola did make another palette. They have 2 different eye palettes: this one (the “Smokey Eye palette”) and the mermaid palette. Then, their lip palette has much more saturated, bright colours.
They do have another palette with actual colours. These guys specifically ordered the duller one.
The palette is so bland that I thought the video was in black and white for a minute until I looked at Hailey's hand and realized it was in color. I used to work for a design firm that had a licensing agreement with Crayola. I designed and colorized many a Crayola coloring book cover, puzzle, and book, and this palette just doesn't seem Crayola to me AT ALL.
It's weird, because their lip palette, and pencils are perfectly pigmented, so we know they COULD do more. I guess they thought that they needed a dull eyeshadow palette, in order to be taken seriously. But now it has backfired, and affected people's impression of the whole line. I feel like people would've loved it, if they'd just put more care into the production of the eyeshadow formula, packaging, and pigment.
I reeeally want them to try again because I love the potential. I also want to meet the person who pitched a grey palette to Crayola and had them all go "Yes, the dullest possible range to represent a company that literally creates color, BRILLIANT!!"
Remy Mafia I mean, they had more palettes than just that one. i don't mind the grey palette honestly. I like gray tones. They came off gray purple on Hailey which I'm super down for :') too bad they suck haha
+Jackie Johnson You're being too nice. This palette's literally useless for anything besides transition shades. They really need to make their lip palette into a shadow palette. NO GRAY, OR DULL SHADES.
Crayola Beauty have 2 different eyeshadow palettes. One is “mermaid” and this one is “Smokey eye”

this whole makeup collection disaster reminds me of crayola "premium" colored pencils that were literally just regular crayola colored pencils but each pencil was painted the same color on the outside
They were more pigmented than the normal kind but that was about it
She meant that all the pencils were the same color as each other on the outside. I think they were black? I can't remember for sure.

the cardboard sleeve in all of its pretty gradients just makes it worse. i get that packaging doesn't equal palette but like. if there's not a _single_ shade in your palette that makes for appealing packaging, maybe you should reconsider the palette.

I wasn’t expecting quality-I was expecting colour. For a moment I was wondering if you had decided to desaturate the video when I saw the palette. So you can do blue mascara but the flipping eyeshadow is all pastel?

jaynn they had other palettes, too. One mermaid colorful one and possibly a neutral one. I don't remember, but there was a colorful, bright palette
They do have coloured eyeshadows. I feel like the video might be confusing people, but these guys actually ordered a smokey eye palette (which every makeup company has). Crayola DOES have a palette with bright colours, these guys just chose the other one. Why, I have no idea.
I love when you guys have no plans on repressing a palette and it's just straight shadow homicide.

Tbh, I kind of want a couple of the lipsticks, just so I can whip out what looks like a crayon and touch up my lip look. 😉🖍️💄💋
The reason why brands label something as a lip product instead of being a multi-purpose product is because a lot of red shades are legally deemed unsafe for the eyes. The ingredients otherwise can be the same, but the pigments are different.
Yep yep. Same base, different pigments. And the rules are different in each country so it gets super confusing. ^^;
I think the reason for them having the same formula could be that there was meant to be an actual box of make up crayons full of an array of colours that you could use anywhere on your face. Maybe the FDA having issue with red dyes being used in eye products stopped that.

Crayolas too used to making chalk so they put it in makeup containers and called it eyeshadow.

Actual Crayola works better than makeup version of crayola. Meh
(Melt in add a bit wax or coconut oil and they work beautiful as cream shadow blush balm)

If almost all products on the makeup breakup are over their advertised weight, which is over by a LOT sometimes, why would the brands not advertise the actual weight on the packaging?
Good question. It’s because it is illegal to provide less than what’s listed on the packaging, it’s false advertising if it is underweight. There are often discrepancies between batches so if they put the exact weight it will often be wrong and they can get in trouble if it is under the weight listed on the packaging. So brands often under estimate what the products contain so they are always providing what they claim or more

Because even the finger searches are sheer, I wonder did they intend for them to be more of a sheer, Asian type formula... they still look like a powdery mess though so it’s hard to decide what they intended!

When you do "makeup breakup" to some of my favorite palettes, it hurts my heart. I don't like seeing my beloved makeup friends being destroyed... but after you swatched this one, all I could think was "Break it.. destroy it and throw it out". I was so excited for this launch but every single review and swatching has been so upsetting. I loved seeing it get destroyed.
My kids already get into my lipstick/liners and destroy it and color on the walls with it. Why would I want it to look like something they're allowed to color with? Then I can't get pissed about it because it's my own damn fault for having things that look like the thing they're told to write with in my makeup stock.

I want the red one of these “face Crayons”. It looks super creamy and smooth, and of course that pigmentation is incredible. I’m a fan!
I really want the lip and cheek crayons. I really like cream blush and am running out of my discontinued one and that red one looked SOOOO GOOOD

Yeah i get what you mean, but every lipstick i own is either too dark, or not the finish i want. Also theyre super hard to blend. I love my nyx cream blush but they dont make it anymore so im on the hunt.
Elf cream blushes are some of my favorite, Colorpop are good, or on the little more expensive side TheBalm's cream blushes are nice.

I feel like Crayola thought they were onto a winner with this makeup collection because of who they are. If they did it as a collab with an established makeup brand this could be so much more amazing.

Instead of the highlighter stick, at drugstores in america we have wet and wild highlighter sticks that are 3 US dollars and work amazing. Nothin. So much better than the crayola one

So disappointing. Crayola could have really done something awesome here but they decided to rush it and cheap out on quality. The colors should be vibrant, not pastel. Shame on you Crayola!

From what I’ve seen, about the only thing worth it in the collection it the lip palette, or whatever the cream palette is.
Laura Marie i've seen some positive reviews of the face palette as well. That red crayon swatched beautifully as well. This is the first "review" where I've seen it used.
Laura Marie I think they should have just released lipstick. That could have been their thing. They have all these beautiful colors in crayons and colored pencils, and it'd make more sense than all this other stuff (highlighters, eyeshadow palettes), except in even more colors. Forget about the multipurpose bs (all lipsticks can be used as cream blush...) and just have the color range be the main selling point. They could sell lip crayon packs that look like a box of real crayons (sharpener and all) with all of the same colors in a normal crayon box... how cool would that be? It seems they had a good formula there and I wish they had just stuck with that

I really wish you would have tried repotting the shadow pallettes and face pallettes so we can see if it improves the quality. That way if anyone spent their money on it they could see if there was a chance at salvaging it. LOVE THIS CHANNEL!

I think you guys are the only ones who really do brush swatches that I have seen anyways... but it makes sense because that’s how it would perform applied with a brush to your eyes.
