I'm honestly shocked that they are using coconut oil for a foundation. The idea that coconut oil is good for skin holds up strongly although that is not the case at all. It causes acne and skin problems for so so many people and thinking that you'll have it on your skin for hours as a foundation.. not good. But the lipsticks looked absolutely beautiful on you, thanks for the video. They always make my day better! (:
Toni boni I also thought that was a bit of a bad move using a coconut oil based foundation, the only time I’ve ever had horrible acne is when i used coconut oil on my skin
Right? I've tried using coconut oil as a facial moisturizer and it actually dried my skin out worse. (This can happen with certain oils on certain skin types) and I cant imagine wearing it in foundation form all day. I'd be a flaky greasy queen!
What? Does it?? I've used coconut oil as moisturizer for years now and I have barely any breakouts (only around my period but who doesn't?) 🤔 all other facial creams give me pimples ☹
Coconut oil is very comedogenic! It might be fine for a minority of people but I wish Lush would stop using it in so many of their skincare products! (They would have a lot more of my money if they did lol)
Lily Cordelia yes, and some people also have sensitivities or allergies to coconut/coconut oil! I got blisters on my scalp after trying a coconut oil hair mask-hadn’t even applied it to my scalp, just the ends of my hair and put it up in a bun. I cringe to think of what would happen if I put coconut oil foundation all over my face!
11:00 Kiera + look of 'oh did you think so' aka the 'i'mma not happy bout that' 11:02 Alex + makes a smooth save = Kiera please look of 'that's a good bean, i think i'll keep you'
Coconut oil is great to use from time to time to hydrate your skin, but I've heard that using coconut oil for extended periods of time or everyday can lead to a greasy skin and naturally more spots. So that's why you probably got that weird spot on your nose since these products are coconut oil based. 😊 Love your videos btw!
Yeah, definitely - coconut oil is naturally high on the comedogenic scale. Never really understood the trend of people using coconut oil on their face. There are tonnes of more appropriate, less clogging oils for skin care.
I like the idea of LUSH make-up... but I'm just not a fan of the whole naked foundation thing. Having struggled with acne for many years, the thought of rubbing a greasy, coconut oily, packaging free foundation on my face makes me cringe. Again, I love the idea of less waste and packaging free but I just can't make it work for me. I don't like washing with a smooshy solid shower gel that's been left out on the counter since my last shower.
Just wanted to echo what you're saying about lush foundations - I bought some lush foundation a while back (maybe two-ish years ago) before the slapstick foundations came out. I think it was called Jackie Oates. I have combination skin and it was awful - my face looked like an oil slick after an hour or so! I'm usually as low maintenance as possible with makeup - to the extent where I usually forget I'm wearing mascara and smear it all over my face, so I really begrudged having to powder my face all the time when wearing the lush foundation!! I love No. 7's stay perfect foundation which isn't overly matt or shiny and is medium coverage. You might wanna try it - not sure if it's vegan though... No other foundation comes close imo - I'm on my 5th tube!! The lush lipsticks look lovely on you - love the formula and the colours xx
The lipsticks could be such a nice alternative for when your lips are way too dry for your standard liquid matte lipstick, but I think the foundation has a lot of room to improve
I've just bought today my first lush lipstick in "Los Angeles" tone (lovely red cold undertoned) and it is amazing. Very mosturizing. I love it. Thank you for your review!
This reminds me of videos you used to make a lot, ive missed them! Not that I don’t like your usual content of course, but I’m glad to see some beauty stuff makin it’s way back!
Hi, fellow lush employee here! The slapstick foundation can sit strangely depending on the base, I would recommend not wearing a primer underneath or a moisturiser, because it has coconut oil it can offset the pigment. I would also recommend powering once when applied! X
This os great, I like reviews of things, but don't often want to watch really long and detailed videos. Great succinct review with fab demonstrations! Thanks Keira!
i am soooooo jealous of how ALL of those lipsticks suit you!!! you look gorgeous in every. single. one of them!! H O W. when i put on lipstick i ALWAYS look so grim!
I haven't tried any of those lipsticks yet but I have tried their Slapstick foundation. I personally quite like it so far (been using it for maybe 9 months or so). I do definitely powder my face with the Emotional Brilliance powder immediately after applying the foundation without fail, and find it quite difficult to blend in to my skin and definitely find that it settles into any in my skin. It isn't absolutely perfect, but the colour match IS perfect and I also really enjoy the natural level of coverage - just the right amount to make my skin my own, only better :) I haven't noticed my skin particularly getting worse since using the foundation I don't think, although my skin isn't great either way so I'm not 100% sure on the effect it's had on it. I definitely like it more than I dislike it!
I like the idea of refill lipstick. I'm trying my best to find ways to produce less waste and make up is very difficult because there really isn't anything you can do about it, you just always throw away the empty bottle/case and buy new one so this sounds great, even though I like more liquid lipsticks where you can apply it with the 'stick', but I definitely consider this and I hope there would be developed more ways how to be less wasteful with make up.
I don't live in a warm climate, but it gets very humid. Given what happens to coconut oil in our cupboard, I wouldn't dare put it in my foundation. Thanks for your review!
The Milano is very me! I loved the look of it on you!! I'm guessing the foundation will suit someone with dry skin? I'm a T zone greasy bean so..... I think I'll give it a miss! Although I LOVE their emotional brilliance face powder!! 😘😘😘 Xx
I finally figured out who you remind me of! I feel like you have a look of the little girl from the Bridge to Terabithia, but all grown up! ❤ also all those colours looked beautiful on you!
i got the foundation in shade 5c and was kinda disappointed, after being at work for like an hour it had all come off, i had such high hopes ugh. But, the lipsticks look amazing, think I might have to get me some Cairo or some windoHEK ✨
Same! Depends which store you work at I will say first. But both my stores were very cliquey. A supervisor bullied me about a customer who didn't want to be touched/want the products on them. The supervisor told me I was stupid for not forcing it as it would have been a sale. And my first store was very very sales bases. 'Always add a product to their basket. That's means they will have to take it out if they don't want to and they won't do that'. The company is also changing ethics to more sales and profit and less quality. When I first started buying lush, bath bombs cost around £2 but now some cost £5.95. This is more then just inflation
@@jadeasha4040 Yeah it's a shame, especially when there's so many other ethical/vegan companies selling equally as good, if not better products that are also cheaper.
oml... I PLAYED NEED FOR SPEED... honestly, everytime I see something labled as pearlescent I think of that game and now he's gone and said it. this is so great.
The lipstick looks great! I tried the concealer and was really hoping to love it because it’s less wasteful, but sadly it just felt so thick to put on and really dried my skin out 👎🏻
Thanks so much for testing these. I’ve really wanted to try the zero / low waste options from lush but was baulking at the price. Do you think that foundation might be good for someone with dry flaky skin? I’m tempted to try it because normal hydrating or dewy finish foundations still leave my skin a bit dry.
I just wish lush would come out with some reusable packaging (glass bottles etc) and do like a refill station in store!! I just think the naked products are a bit gross and the shampoo etc dries my hair so badly
I’m a huuuuge lush fan but I just don’t get on with the foundation! It broke me out within an hour of wearing it and good job it was only a try on from the shop 😂
I like how your pupils became sooooo big when looking at Alex! (I know it can only be the light but it was soo cute!! ❤️) The lipsticks are purfect! And the one you choose for your weeding is looking stunning on you!!!
The foundation is not for me with a very oily skin (with all that coconut oil in it) and my experience with the earlier lipsticks is that they go bad very soon, even before you can use them partially. :( I love Lush but not really their make up.
I cant believe they charge so much for products that arent packaged in ways you can use them easily and that wastes the product. I feel like lush over charges for their use of "health ingredients" that dont really work great or the environmentally friendly packaging (which realistically costs less and you need to pay an extra $5 for reusable tins)... think its a bit of a rip off. Youre so sweet though, been watching you for years and I cannot wait for you to have your wedding and possible baby vlogs in the future! Keen as to see your art and imagination come to life with little doe too!
if you have acne issues at all, coconut oil based makeup is not a good choice. It would really clog up your pores. It Would be okay for people like me as I am middle aged and have eczema.
There she is again. The cutest bean on YT

Coconut oil and rosehip oil break me out considerably. Argan oil and jojoba oil are the way to go for nearly every skin type!
I’d never use coconut oil on my face. Though witch hazel and aloe vera make me break out more
