I am very pleased to see that there are still people who know how to appreciate steel bikes, the origin of everything, especially because which cannot be forgotten it. You did an excellent recovery/restoration job, and even more so because you use it. Very Good work!
Nice job but here are some things I would have done different. 1) Use some grease or anti seize compound on your seatpost, stem, pedals, chain rings and bottom so they come apart easier and keep water out. 2) If the fork chrome cleaned up nice then I would have masked it off and not painted over it. 3) Use some grease or oil on all cables and in housings for lubrication and to keep water out. 4) Would have put Front Quick Release on left side. 5) Would have put Clear Coat over your paint job. 6) Would sprayed lots of WD-40 in the frame and fork tubes and bottom to try to prevent more rust forming. 7) Would turn your seat clamp around and raise your post it a bit as it seems too low. Thanks for taking the time to make the video and saving an older bicycle.......
Hi, I'm a restoration enthusiast like you and I work mainly on Italian racing bikes from the 60s and 70s. you did a great job and you work very well. greetings from Italy.
The bike you got is in much better condition than the vintage Francesco Moser which I bought (from a bike shop that wanted to throw it away) and restored. The Italian bottom bracket was the worst part of the bike to dismantle.
Great to watch… really enjoyed this. I’ve just started my own channel and put a few short edits up. I will be attempting some proper content in January. Good luck with your channel
Absolutely amazing! I am trying to restore a CCM Concorde. Struggling to get the bottom crank arm removed as it is stuck and I don't have the tools to move forward. Hopefully I can get something soon to move forward
Great rebuild, congratulations! Just a newbie question: old 27" rear wheel was a freewheel, and new 28" has a cassette, right? And you can use the same old derailleurs just fine? Asking because I've got an old Peugeot road bike, and 27" wheels on it are crap (also, it's not so easy to get new tires in this size any more), so I'm considering switching to 28", but I'd like to keep original derailleurs. Thanks in advance, and congrats once again!
Mine I keep it original my derailleurs no problem but you need to know your old cassette how many speed if 6 or 7speed ..I change it to 28wheel same to you struggling to find 27wheel and tire..
This is the second "restoration" video by Izra I have viewed. Again he did a good job returning a bike to a good rider condition but a restoration no to many things not done right or blatantly left off. Though as far as restoration is concerned my comment is negative it does not take away the mans skills at building good rider bikes. My definition of a restored bike includes all original emblems and parts, paint schemes and colors.
I agree he should've done the original paint scheme and printed new stickers, but I hard disagree on reusing old parts especially if he's gonna be riding it. This isn't a repurposed toaster, so rider safety > old unsafe original parts. As long as he replaced the parts with new, same style parts it's fine tbh. I think it makes sense for bikes because bikes are customizable anyway and the parts on it could've not been the original "spec" anyway.
@@Emot10ns true. I will soon be tackling a 60s JC Higgins bike plan to keep all the ordinal parts if I can. Maybe I will do a short progress video on it
It is all about "THE JOURNEY "... I thoroughly enjoyed " THE JOURNEY " from beginning to end..! Every Vintage Ride deserves a chance reguardless of its badge. Beautiful work My Man..! 👏👌 By the way , Just Subscribed... 🙏
Great video but what an absolute waste of time and materials on a crappy dept-store bike. You overpaid by $40. BBut hey you do you. Oh PS your seat clamp is on backwards.
YOU UNDERSTAND,
DANKE!
I dont like when old bikes are resprayed. Why not preserve its history? The bike had a nice colour scheme and a chrome fork! The new wheels with black spokes absolutely do not match with the old frame. Modern brake levers but still the old brake calipers is a no-go. This bike has lost its classic character and the newer parts ruin what was left of it.

Amazing job. I just picked up a vintage Trek for 100.00 circa 1980's I need to do the same thing. Thank you for a straight forward video.
Got to give you credit. I would never put that much effort into a Canadian Tire bike.
That’s amazing. Most people would have walked past such a rust bucket but you made it beautiful again. Cheers.
Thanks 👍

Compleatly agree on all your points
It is nice to see correct helping hand on internet
Last but not least, pick a higher end bike to start with lol.

Last road bike i owned was similar but brand new.
Totally inspired. When you bought the new rear tire, did you keep the same number of gears for the rear cassette as the original or did you upgrade?
Awesome job!
Looks so amazing. Love it
Well done, however acrylic primer isn't best option, i would have used reactive primer
Sick, great work.

Beautiful work My Man..! 👏👌

I still rid a steel bike a surly crosscheck its also my gravel bike full utilitarian bike but would still like a road bike .
Belíssimo! Bravo 🎉
Do the gears work? Seems like it was stuck in the hard gears upon test riding...
Beautiful job! Is this a size 27 frame? I'm also restoring the 27 frame but having trouble finding a brake set. i want one like you have
Good djob 👌
Nice job !
...But it seems a little bit short for you ;)
Great job!!!
bravo video
Just one question : how many did you buy it ? But just awesome job dude, keep doin thing like that 👏👏
Awesome 👍
Cool, but what product did u use prior to applying primer? Where did u obtain rare brake lever hoods? Thanks.
He tossed the old brake levers with top out cables and put new brake levers and hoods with hidden out cables.
NICE!
My old kona ,the handle bar stem i rusted into the frame. Just wondering how to remove
Spray W40 lubricant and leave it for one day..to soften the the rust...
Is this and old Supercydle from CanadianTire or is there another "Supercycle" in the world?
Where are the decals?
I would have bought that only because it has a chain guard. Who thought eliminating those was a good idea?
a steal tbh xD
pump your tyres up
I'm asking me why are the words didn't rustet?
Back in my day I would wind the handle bar tape from top to bottom. And have the bung to fasten it.?
When you wind it top to bottom hand pressure causes the overlaps to separate over time.
Great video but what an absolute waste of time and materials on a crappy dept-store bike. You overpaid by $40. BBut hey you do you.
Oh PS your seat clamp is on backwards.
Yeah good, but not a resto with 700c rims... They are smaller and don't look the same as 27s...
Bonita
Why not use a little penetrating fluid ahead of time? PS You forgot the Supercycle sticker.
Keep 27 wheels
Schon mal etwas von Abbeizern geröhrt?
