Steel is real ❤ Nothing more satisfying than finding one of these old classics, restoring them back to glory, and then riding them .. im very lucky to have a DX-5000 currently building back up - the real joy is when the frame is in good enough condition not to be completely repainted - I've come to appreciate the odd paint chip and patina, gives them even more authenticity once rebuilt .. sometimes the frames are however understandably to far gone .. with a complete repaint still feels good to get them riding again with a new lease of life. To those that appreciate, and restore these steel classics beauties wishing you many more satisfying restorations ahead - brings me emmense joy personally 👌💯
A work of art to truly restore a bicycle. Only those of us who have done the work will understand what I am saying. Congratulations from Mexico Lindo y Bandido.
Interesting to see an utterly meticulous standard applied to the frame restoration combined with a more flexible and accepting standard applied to the components. A beautiful, practical result, and, presumably, a bike that's intended to ridden in its second life, rather than being put on a shelf. It's hard to beat 1980s and early 1990s Japanese bicycles.
An interesting final build, and a gorgeous color! But I was a bit disappointed that you didn't give that rear derailleur a little love. Surely a polish would freshen him up too.
Personally if i was going to put all that effort into that gorgeous paintjob I would have ground off those old shifter mounts and gave it a far safer and more ergonomic modern groupset to make it a much more ridable bike.
@@screwb1882you don't even need to grind them off, you can just get an adapter that screws onto the shifter mounts so you can run a cable to the handlebars instead
@@DonTraccio Considering that the bike has a mishmash of components of different vintages (the wheels are far too modern), polishing the older ones would not take away anything. It is not like they are rare vintage components; they are merely old.
How beautiful! The bike is already beautiful in itself, but that sober color that you have given it gives it an air of seriousness that makes it... unique! Congratulations for the labour.
Fantastic job, especially on the paint. If you’re going to all that trouble, why not polish the aluminium components and find some original SR Sakae bars to complete the bike? Drop bars and fresh bar tape would really complete this bike.
It looks like this one is meant to be ridden, not hung on a wall. I definitely take your point, however. I like seeing people put new life into good machines. I don't think I'd polish the drivetrain parts, myself. It is interesting to see those new components he installed. Depending where you live, parts can be hard to come by. I live in the USA. I don't like dealing with eBay (have been burned), so I stick to renewing what I can. Everything seems disposable here. Even when you buy top-shelf stuff, you wind up buying complete assemblies. It's good to know when to stop rebuilding. The aluminum patina will never be the same after polishing, and you could tell it had been buffed. There's a cost/benefit consideration. It's cool to let some battle scars remain, too.
Great job, your a bike smith to the fullest, you turned a 20$ bike into $500.00 one, some of the vintage road bikes that were made our great bikes, style etc,and perform well as well, appreciate the video,I'll be watching for all your stuff, thanks for not having unnecessary nonsense in the background of your videos, from Oklahoma, thanks
Nice job! I really love my Suntour Superbe derailleurs, still shifting smoothly after almost 40 years! The only thing I would change is moving to dual pivot brakes. They just work so much better! Great job!!
Looks to be a 1987 DX-6000. Quite a rare and desirable bike. Frame is made with Tange Prestige steel and it would have come with Suntour Sprint components originally.
I have a 1989 bike (originally a trekking bike), it also has bolted front chain rings (Shimano Biopace Aluminium chain rings). More expensive bikes often had bolted chain rings. My rear cassette however is 7 speed, not 10
When you adjust the pedal bearings is the same concept than a hub. You must give the proper adjustment and then lock one nut over the other. There is an special tool for that. If you dont do it you will have a loose pedal in a short time.
Thank you for watching.

I gotta say the initial bike was assembled properly and taken care of well reasonably well. Kudos to the original owner and especially Panasonic.
it wasnt that cared

Beautiful old school bike, laconic and harmonious. Good condition, previous owner was caring.
Excellent work done.
I've never heard of a Panasonic bicycle before. Definitely a gem worth keeping.
I'm amazed how this bicycle among other things were made to last back in the day. Fantastic work!
Thank you😊

Gotta love those old/vintage steel road frames.

The renovation is really impressive, including the ability to reprint the brand stickers

Now this is what i call therapy. Beautiful to watch
Nice job. It's good to see these older bikes being restored ❤️
Very nice AMSR video of a serious restoration of an old bike. Love to hear all the soothing sounds from the restoration.
That satisfying sound of clipping the cables.
Bravo. Ich habe immer Respekt vor Profis.
This is a really nice bike, I love that shade of blue.
Awesome frame finishing , have you considered polishing the bare aluminium components to remove some of the scratches?
then components will lose their vintage look

I'm impressed a 1988 bike does not have rivetted chainring and less than 9 speed. It was like seeing a modern drivetrain bike getting refurbished.
