  • This is part one of how to strip, clean and install a EGR delete.
    In Part one I will be showing you how to pull the Intake apart so you can clean all the gunk which has accumulated over the years.
    Good luck and hope you like getting dirty!
    This process can be used for Toyota Landcruiser 70, 75, 76, 100, 105
    Any car with a 1HD-FTE, 1HZ or 1HD-T
    Please check your local laws and regulations to blocking/ removing the EGR system in your car.
    The mod should be used on "off road" vehicles only.
    All mods are done at your own risk, all my videos are made as entertainment.

      Mate, everything and anything to do with the Toyota Landcruiser 70, 75, 76, 100, 105, 1HD-FTE, 1HZ or 1HD-T.
      Looking to pick one up soon, having access to extremely helpful content is hard to find and so amazing. vids on any aftermarket upgrades or what you have been doing is sick. May be even advice on a newbie DIY tool setup that would let you do most things on the vehicle?? All just ideas. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge.

    I was actually struggling for a while to start with die EGR delete and intakte cleaning, as I thought it would be much harder and time consuming to do. After watching all 5 parts with your great step-by-step instructions I am am confident do do it with ease. Und I like the style of your video very much. Detailed enough, not wasting time, relaxed explainations, with some little fun und self irony. Just perfect!!!

    Just thought I would leave a heads up for anyone doing this with a cold weather pack 100. You will have to remove the power heater and assorted pipe work to complete the job and bleed the coolant system after reassembly and it'sa good time to replace the heater tee as they are a known faliure point. Also the best way I found to assess the nut right at the back of the intake was a smaller ratchet with a 12mm spark plug socket on it. Mine weirdly didn't have any of those $8 washers at all so just left it that way. All in all a relatively easy job but did take twice as long as I thought it would. Great instructional

    Fantastic Video Dan, thank you for making it
    Isn't one on the net like it for the FTE, which is amazing
    Your inlet didn't look bad at all compared to some
    Awesome job getting exhaust side EGR pipe nuts off!

      Thanks mate, means a lot!
      Yes it was one of the cleaner ones I have done. This was actually one of our follow group members car.
      The exhaust side EGR nuts are always a pain, lots of WD40, a hex socket and your good to go. (havnt broken a stud yet)

    • @mountainconstructions
      @mountainconstructions 6 років тому +1

      Ah nice to know Dan, i soaked my EGR exhaust side for 4 days prior
      Then started to swing off it with socket and bar and was too scared to push any harder!!!
      So i only got the inlet side off to slide the blanking plate in.
      I must admit, since adding the EGR blanking plate (9 weeks ago)
      My economy is slightly worse?? maybe 0.5-0.8L/100km worse off
      Which i found really odd.
      My FTE has 360,000ks on it, never been cleaned to my knowledge and EGR delete only on 5000k's ago
      Can still get 10.3L/100L for a 5spd manual if i try.
      Have spoken to you on FB before.
      Once again, awesome videos mate, i am so surprised at the lack of 1HD-FTE videos online (lots of 1HZ etc)
      So it is so good you are taking the time to make some
      Very valuable resource for years to come for thousands of 1HT-FTE owners

    • @DanvsCar
      @DanvsCar  6 років тому +1

      That is very odd that it reduced your economy. Ive herd of people say it stays the same or increase.
      Maybe since you blocked it at the intake side its creating turbulence in the exhaust flow?
      On my 1HZ economy got better.
      Most people are scared to work on them, 1HD-FTE is a "smart" engine (lots of wires and sensors), where as the 1HZ is dumb (could run the older ones with 2 wires) and hard to break.

    • @mountainconstructions
      @mountainconstructions 6 років тому

      Yes, i was so close to buying a 1HZ with Turbo in a 105 with lockers and everything else
      But man, the power was horrible
      Not that i was expecting a race car, but it really had to be flogged to get to 100ks when empty.
      By comparison the FTE is a GTR ;)

    • @DanvsCar
      @DanvsCar  6 років тому +1

      Totally agree with you there! When I jump from my dad's 1HD-FTE into my 1hz it's terrible. Mine runs fully loaded every day with tools in the rear draw, stacked 75L fridge and all my work gear.
      If I fill the tanks (long rang 185L) i can feel it.
      Looking into doing a engine swap. Crossing my fingers I can do it this year.

    Great videos. The only thing I would add is a bit more info on the sensors. My problem is a air flow blockage light coming up on high revs. I expect it is a sensor installed poorly because it only started happening after service by Toyota. Now doing my own service but still have that problem. Also interested to see video using the ODB tool for 1hd-fte. Thanks.

    • @DanvsCar
      @DanvsCar  6 років тому +2

      Hello! The EGR blocking part is actually really quick and easy to do. (Ill will be showing the process in a coming video) .
      Yes installing a catch can will help with reducing the oil blow-bye and stop/ reduce turning the soot into the black tar looking stuff inside the intake.
      You can stop before pulling the intake manifold off (that way you dont need to touch the injector lines) and just clean that section (the cross over pipe)
      If you need any info let me know!

    Hey Dan, firstly thankyou for sharing your knowledge. I hope the gods of UA-cam ad revenue floods you with the greens.
    I noticed the description says 1HD-FTE, 1HD-T, and 1HZ. I have just bought a HDJ80R with the 1HD-FT. Will these videos also provide guidance for that engine or are they completely different for various reasons?
    Also, the lads doing a similar EGR task for the 1kd-FTE (Prado 120 for example) engine put a plate with a 7mm hole, so it changes the flow down, but still allows some. Is that recommended for these engines or just a straight blocking plate (performance wise, forgetting legalities).
    Cheers mate

    • @DanvsCar
      @DanvsCar  5 років тому +1

      Hello Aaron, thanks for the comment!
      Yes the 1HD-FT is a very similar engine. You will able to use most of my videos to help you out.
      The prado engine requires for there to be a hole in the plate due to error codes. (from what i have been told)
      The 1HD, 1HZ engines is fine to use with a solid plate. We want to stop all soot from going back into the intake system! blockages are bad!
      Also worth installing a catch can!
      Hope that helps 👍

    Dan a quick question where is tps located on a 1hd fte its a 2000 amazon

    • @DanvsCar
      @DanvsCar  5 років тому

      Hello, usually they are located on top of the injector pump or near the throttle body.
      On the 1HZ/ 1HD-T /1HD-FT that is where they are located. (part number 89452-36010)
      Not sure with the 1HD-FTE as I have never stripped the pump before or needed to replace the TPS.
      Since the throttle/pump is electronically controlled, I would assume it does not have a TPS.
      Im looking at the schematics of the injector pump on the 1HD-FTE, i can not see a TPS. I do see reference to it in the Toyota repair Manuel, but again does not say its location or if the 1HD-FTE engine has one.
      Both petrol (straight 6,/ v8) and 1HD-T, 1HD-FT have a TPS.
      If you getting issues with throttle it could be your accelerator position sensor (on the accelerator pedal) or a few other things.
