I used to struggle with the Apollo preamps ..... sometimes even real good takes would seem lifeless. Even with the good takes i would still have to subtractive eq to cut and notch out all the crap from 100-500 Hz. Lots of parallel comp needed to balance the vocal. Now using a Neve based pre into a WA76 gives awesome lively takes without the need to eq a bunch!
Great and informative video, I think I've heard this song MILLIONS of times in other videos featuring other artist. Its right what Quincy Jones stated, Shit all sound the same! But again, your presentation was informative. Thanks!
Yeah, it's pretty straight forward in terms of composition and production. BUT - it also got picked up by a sports association for a promo, so $ in the bank.
Thanks a lot for sharing all this with us sir...i have you question...if the jz mics have a fast transient response, would a tube/valve mic like the rides K2 be considered having a slower transient response?
I realize the T-Pain effect is still a "thing"...why I'm not sure but regardless it's very hard to tell any differences and ALL nuances are lost with all the Auto-Tune FX on it. I appreciate the intention but honestly, it was pretty pointless
Thanks for the video!! I decided to take a shot each time you said "kon"
I am now dead.. lol 😂😂😂
Cheers
LOL

preamp makes a difference. the Apollo is pretty bland.
That's wild to hear. I read that post malone's engineer uses a c800g straight into the apollo just for the fact of adding his own colors via plugins.

@@Storyvilleemcee Makes sense to get picked up by a "Sports association Promo" because it will sound so familiar to everyone listening.
@@Storyvilleemcee "its not like the iso where it is super tight" You recorded the vocals in a Isovox? :)

It would be great if the t pain auto tune fx was off to really hear the mic!!!!
No treatment? You couldn't turn off the sound degradation of autotune for us to hear the qualities of the mic better?
Maybe do a video on why they think they need AutoTune
In his FX line up, there are 3 harmonizers (panned L-C-R) on the original VOX track. I was disappointed too.
Really interesting stuff Matthew. I can't help but think that Akon is getting his money's worth from you :-) SteveW
I’d love to hear this without the autotune.
EXACTLY!
LOL be careful what you wish for! Death by 10,000 edits.
Make a video best interface up to: 300/500/700/1000 dollars :)
sounds like Akon not Kanye at all
I'd love to hear this with a better song. Awful music
