Summerall really did seem unusually pumped up for this game - his calls of the Dixon kickoff return and especially Sehorn's INT return were as animated and enthusiastic as he ever got, even in his CBS heyday.
I was at this game. When Dixon's opening kickoff return happened, I thought the stadium was coming down. It's the loudest moment at Giant's Stadium that I was ever at.
I was as well. My first football game and I was with my uncle. He was still getting food and I was in my seat. He ran to me and ask “what happened?”....I told him “ The Giants just landed a haymaker” 😂
I was there too! The friggin stadium exploded! Good old Giant stadium when real fans could still go without forking out 10s of thousands of dollars in PSLs at that corporate crap house Metlife
While waiting for boarding to Baltimore, I met Head Coach Fassel and told him you guys made one hell of a run back in 2000. I also mentioned Sehorn’s pick six.
Giants were the only team the Eagles couldn't handle that season - they went 12-6 with the 3 losses to NYG, all by double figures, while their other 3 losses were all on last-second field goals (GB, WAS, TEN).
Thanks for this upload. So nice to see the giants beating the eagles, and when it mattered most. Sweetest part about this was it completed a 3 game sweep of the eagles. That crowd roar at Giants Stadium will never match MetLife
NEVER, it’s because of the psl seating honestly 🤦🏻♂️ all rich folks instead of the TRUE BIG BLUE FANS... they went corporate for a new stadium and it makes me sick

I was at this game with my uncle. We were actually seated near the other end of the field and we all thought it was initially incomplete. When we saw the replay in the stadium the entire building erupted.
@@JerseyNYC83 Yeah watching at home I remember thinking it was incomplete too it was a fantastic interception from Jason Sehorn. I miss watching him play you were lucky to see him play live.
This Giants team had one heck of a coaching staff. Fassel has been criminally underrated as a HC (in my opinion) but then you have Sean Payton as OC and John Fox as DC. Darn impressive!
I’ve watched a lot of football, I’m a lifelong Steelers fan and seen a lot of great defensive plays. That Sehorn interception is one of the greatest plays I’ve ever seen by a defensive back. He had to reverse his momentum and dive just to get his hands on the ball, was able to keep it off the ground and get control of it, and then had the wherewithal to get back up and run into the end zone. They could have ended the game right then and there, at that point, I knew that Philadelphia was a beaten team. Sehorn was a hell of a player, it’s a shame that injuries cut his career short.
That 2000 Eagles was one of my favorite teams of the Andy Reid Era. No one expected them to go this far. Well, shit it was the Giants day when you have a kick off TD to start the game and a incredible pick 6 by Seehorn it isn't your day to advance in the playoffs.
The 2000 Eagles were really good. Loved when they went into RFK and stunned a loaded Redskins team late in the season. Donavan McNabb was unstoppable that afternoon
One of my favorite Giants teams ever as this was the first season of the new uniforms with the gray pants, it sucks how the Giants went back to white pants for home games, the gray pants made them standout more.
@@JerseyNYC83 Exactly it's more closely accurate to their Yankee Stadium days, not the white pants which were added. The white pants were more synonymous with the Lawrence Taylor era and when they first moved into Giants Stadium in the mid-70s. At least they still wear grey pants for their road uniform.
I was lucky enough to have season tickets at Giants Stadium from 1984-2009. I could literally feel the ground shake under me when Dixon returned that kick.
U can see the excitement in Madden and Summerall. They missed doing Giants playoffs games. They pretty much did every big Giants game in the 80s and early 90s and now they were back doing Giants playoff games and they loved it
Yup - they usually only did one or two Giants' games per season in their FOX days and most of them were not at the Meadowlands. Dick Stockton or Sam Rosen would call most of their games.
Actually it closed in 2010, but yes I share your sentiment. One of the last great “football” stadiums. It was loud, it was steep, it was simple, and as Giants fans it was ours alone. That was a darn good Giants defense that tends to be forgotten about probably because of how good the Ravens defense was that year. But when you can pretty much dominate a game like this without scoring an offensive TD and then, next week, shut out the Vikings with their offense (who had Carter AND Moss) your defense is pretty great.
Plus the Giants defense was the reason they were still in the game before things finally came apart in the third quarter and even then it wasn't like the defense got lit up by the Ravens offense either. When Kerry Collins kept serving up apple turnovers to the Ravens' D, it's pretty hard to overcome that.
