Rock Hudson went from a simple farm boy who delivered food trucks around studios in an attempt to get discovered to one of the biggest stars of his generation. He presented a masculine image, and his homosexuality was an open but closely guarded secret.
The star’s biggest regret wasn’t staying in the closet. He admitted on his deathbed that he wished he had reached out to Martha Blair sooner. They’d had a single night of passion that led to a child, and he would have loved to help her raise him.
Rock also went back to his Catholic roots and reaccepted the faith on his deathbed. A priest entered his home and helped him pray the Sinner’s Prayer before it was too late.
Rock Hudson’s charming personality was more than a way to begin affairs; it also helped him make friends. Elizabeth Taylor was so close to him that she snuck into the hospital to see him before his death. His frequent costar Doris Day did everything she could to help him in their final days together.
Secrets and rumors ruined even his closest relationships, including his friendship with Jim Nabors. They never spoke again after a false story about them getting married came out.
Rock also kept his true feelings hidden to protect his career. He broke up with Lee Garlington before his death, but it wasn’t until his biography came out that he told him he was the true love of his life.

No one could equal Rock Hudson as the handsomest and the most kindhearted actor Hollywood ever had. He totally had no celebrity complex in his bones. A good and humble individual. He is resting in peace now.

I didn't and don't care of his love life. To me he was a super star . He was the best Actor. The stars nowadays could take lessons from his ruggedness and ability to be each person he portrayed. People need to understand that If you are gay, good for you. You deserve happiness like everyone else. Your preference on you wants and needs are who you are. I cried when I seen what the ravages of the decease did to this man.

My favorite Rock Hudson film is This Earth is Mine, where he plays the illegitimate scion of a wine-making dynasty. I appreciate this old movie even more now that I live next door to the wine country.
I read somewhere how seriously Rock Hudson prepared for the part where he explains to his leading lady, Jean Simmons, how wine is made. More impressive was his training on how to graft a grapevine, quite tricky to do, since Hudson was left-handed. Nevertheless, he had to learn it well, because it was the final episode in the film.
(I wrote a review of This Earth is Mine in Amazon, but all I did was gush over how gorgeous Rock Hudson is in that movie.)
But my favorite Rock Hudson scene is in Pillow Talk, where he was on the phone with Doris Day, alternately pestering her as Brad Allen (whom she hates) and wooing her as Rex Stenson (whom she loves.) It was hilarious and you could tell by the way he laughs, that Rock Hudson was truly enjoying that scene.

Thank you for this video. It’s so heartwarming to know that Rock Hudson came back to the faith on his deathbed. Eternal rest grant unto Rock Hudson, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

We are all here for a purpose. Rock Hudson was a Star of that I am sure however not one of his movies is as important as his Legacy. Rock Hudson was a handsome man, a talented actor, and a delightful comedian. I am guessing his affairs with women were partly to hide his homosexual liasons, but he was probably bisexual. It's part of the gay spectrum and the current acronym. I loved his movies and my faves were the ones he did with Doris Day. I also enjoyed "All that Heaven Allows", and "Magnificent Obsession" with Jane Wyman (former wife of President Reagan).

God does not hate gays or any body’s sexuality. God loves us all. ❤Elizabeth Taylor was a very caring and understanding woman. I don’t care that he was sexually out there.
