Rock Hudson was a great talent, but many will remember him as the first major celebrity to announce that he had AIDS. I've always thought the world of Doris Day. This was the case of a good friend supporting another in a very difficult circumstances. Her hugging Hudson as she did, showed the world that there was no need to panic over casual contact with a person with AIDS.

I was a hospice SW with lots of AIDS patients from 1991 until I moved on in 1997. I was involved in community AIDS think tanks and work groups. I count that as an invaluable experience.
I hope in next life he will be loved and accepted as the way is. Without living a life of hiding or disguise.
