For the written guide: guildjen.com/the-lonely-tower-fractal-guide/ Update June 25th 2024: - Standing inside the cross attack no longer avoids it, however the damage feels lessened and the amount of boons that get corrupted now has a cap so it is not as punishing. Try to dodge away if you are in melee range when the cross starts, but if you happen to get hit it is not as bad as it once was.
"I recommend dodging through the shockwave as it's less prone to error" is the nice way of saying "The hitbox is fucked and hits way in front of the actual shockwave"
they even told stories that werent related to the main story. it allowed us to see points in time we wouldnt normally see. now its just assets from the main story
For anyone super struggling, you can revive people during the CC phases as I find the boss stops most of its attacks leaving a good recovery period. May or may not of done a 30 minute run reviving people who were fully dead during cc phases... lol
Great guide! I'm glad to see the things my group and I worked out seem to be the right way of doing it. I've done it a few times on a power Spellbreaker, using Headbutts and the hammer leap to escape from the vacuum. Having mobility is definitely a must. (I also feel that this boss would be more fun if he had like 33% less health than he has right now, but that's kind of an issue with a lot of SotO content).
Wanted to add a note. I have been pugging this for multiple hours, got it down once to 3% and cleared once on t4. And we have tried a lot of different strats for orbs, tank blue + dps red, everyone for themselves, assign colors, and singular person gets all. And found out, though not optimal, the latter worked the best, you basically lose 1 person's dps, but everyone else can focus purely on their roles, which makes the fight more comfy and the overall dps was higher in our case. Of course we would help out on occasional good spawns but that's a given. The orb collector wouldnt do dmg for the most of the fight anyways, and we tried with a secondary healer or a scrapper with perma superspeed and tanky enough to be on his own
@@l-chan3347 For collection we just ran t1 4 people stack right under in the middle of the arena and 1 person stand behind on of the rocks, as standing right under him the crakc doesn't count, but you had to stay completely still. Dont need to do mechs either cause of t1 cc break removes all buffs
Just a tip for the buttons phase: you can slot/use a self stability utility while doing buttons to prevent getting kicked off. This way no one has to defend, and your team can run all 4 buttons at once.
Thanks Mukluk, these “get to the point” videos are extremely helpful to players like myself who have trouble understanding what mechanics have which effects.
Nice that fractal runners can now dig for oil too. Also good to see how you demenstrated how to dodge out of the front pizza to get knocked back by the back part. Can you distort or block Eparch's shockwave? My virtuoso doesn't like to move.
You can distort his shockwave! I was playing Mesmer (my character was the Sylvari wielding a rifle seen a few times); and I managed to distort through his shockwaves and attacks quite a few times
one thing i wanted to add in regards to deimos and his mind crush attack. in my experience after he does the animation for mind crush, he'll throw down an oil puddle ontop of a player :)
The CM will likely be the „real“ Daimos mechanics from wing 4 (needs aegis for swing, somebody needs to handkite) & Cerus does the empowered mechanicsfrom his CM… 😂 After that the fight ends because nobody can get past those 2 anyway 😂😂
I dont think the boss design is too bad. It wouldnt hurt if the boss had more phases though and they should do something about that obnoxiously large hp bar
I'm also not a fan of how ANet's decision to design newer Fractal bosses similar to Strike with a single phase, AoE vomit and a huge health bar. Not everything need to be exactly the same.
When Deimos does his Mind Crush animation (spinning his maces) - that's his animation for when he's placing oils. (Which is why Muk thought the blast wasn't hurting at 1:48)
It did not even occur to me that they took a mechanic from raids and attached it to a different mechanics visual effect from the same raid. I think you may be on to something.
I would LOVE if they did that because I think the fractal itself isnt too bad but the long fight makes it kinda annoying and boring since its the same mechanics on repeat. And yea like it was already mentioned, silent surf boss is tanky af too and didnt get the hp nerf treatment
They fixed: - standing in the center of the X attack, BUT you can dodge it now - lifestealing portal hp during CM split (it's cancer phase now) - Eparch can only suck in orbs that are at least 5 seconds old (not that it helps lol) - lowered HP of eparch in CM (he still has 1% success rate to this date, and the problem is the Champ ad Hp, not Boss Hp!) Overall this is my least fav fractal because being unlucky with eparch: sucking Envy out of an ad/player makes it impossible to win - he will corrupt all of your boons if you step onto any of his attacks, unlucky if you get ranged ads that do way more cc and give you weakness and move away from the portals where you need to cleav the spites, instead of mele ads that aren't nearly as annoying. **There is way too much visual clutter.** Eparch himself covers up to 90% of the floor with his attacks and the champ ads themselves are gray black, floor is black, their abilities are gray black... It's not fun, i feel like I get colorblind. It's been 2 months and people still skip it in lfgs, it has 1% success rate. Kanaxai had almost 12% on release (now it's about 65%) Anet 🙏 Nerfing Hp of champ ads would solve this.
I literally just finished my blind first run (everyone in the party had no idea what was going on) and it was really fun. I feel like the boss has too much HP though
This fractal feels harder than any raid/fractal or even strike fight on normal at least. Seems to be buggy as well, had a case where he threw orbs and went instantly into CC, sucking them all orbs to himself.
I disagree with the raids, raids are full of sweats, if it feels easier it’s because you have a bunch of people who somewhat know what they’re doing. My experience with this fractal with pugs was terrible, not because it’s hard per say (eparch has too much hp though imo), but fractal players are used to running in, doing dmg and mechanics consisting of breakbar. So the pug experience for me was picking up orbs because no one else will, turning around and seeing the party wiped. Edit: cerus and deimos were a letdown personally, since you can ignore the mechanics (oil steppers everywhere rejoice) basically stack, hit both bosses, even in oil, pizza and there isn’t much punishment for it.
I don’t know if there is a bug or not; but at the beginning with the “bop it” mechanic, if you have a second person also activate the mechanic then walk away it will despawn the adds.
I've been procrastinating on this fractal since launch. Mostly cause after seeing the mechanics, it's given me the vibes that it's annoying and senseless. Even Sunqua and Silent Surf had mechanics, everything else was a fun puzzle before the pinata at the end. Maybe I just need to dip my toes and see for myself if it's good or bad....
Each attack places different orbs, like the spin places the orange once, if you take different orbs you lose the buff and get hit. I finished this boss one time so far and i did it with tanking all orbs and let 4 ppl fight the boss xD
Getting to the final boss is incredibly fast. The time this fractal takes is highly dependent on if your group knocks him out in one attempt or multiple.
Right now there is currently a "cheese" where you can run full necro's with minions and kill the last boss in less than 2 minutes, I've heard mesmer clones also work to some regard to. So I think it highly just depends on the comp of the group
When I pugged T4 with a random group we managed to get to 46% but still fail. I'll attempt it again sometime but I hope the instability choices are better.
I did this fractal as I was getting my free loot from you on launch day, we did it in 3 tries. after that it was a breeze. but the HP is too damn high imo.
These bosses seem so repetitive... attack run away attack run away attack run away... I also dislike how they just have every mechanic at once, instead of introducing them slowly. Yeah, Arkk was just better
Am i the only one who likes this Fractal, sure it's a bit hectic, chaotic and difficulty and not my favorite Fractal but its much more fun than SIlent Surf Imo. Also great work and editing here.
That fractal is pretty easy and boring. Hope the cm will bring some new mechanics. Yes he has some mechanics but only one pretty long phase and literally every mechanic is avoid-/dodgeable. I was there with my warrior last time, least taken damage. Pretty sure selfheal and defence banner would be enough to keep myself alive 😮

"Oh yeah, guess there should be a limit, huh?"

That lovely feeling when a fractal has a longer GTTP than the GTTP for the WHOLE W4.
Do you remember when fractals were supposed to be quick alternatives to dungeons and not raids?
Pepperage Farms remembers.

So rifle mechanist is viable since it can dps and provide alacrity while getting the orbs?
@@Jonaleth I think a lot of things are viable as long as you can survive reliably on your own. As soon as the collector downs, it gets a bit messy.
have u guys tried it with mirage for collections? 4 blinks and all... Or thief with shadowsteps, blinks, mercy, whatnot

Don't forget touching a crack applies Agony which reduces healing received for a duration making your healers cry.
Step on the crack and you break your healer's back!

top tier editing and explanation! as always
stellar guide and stellar editing ❤
Instructions unclear.

my 2 cents: i've found jumping the shockwave to be easier, BUT ONLY if you're familiar with other gw2 shockwave mechanics
ah the desciption of what every boon does will come handy , ty !

obnoxiously large hp pool.
This video saved my life
Don't forget that the final boss is a HP sponge even at T1. I fully expect this one to receive the Cosmic Observatory treatment.
If silent surf and its insanely hp bloated boss didn't get that treatment, then sadly neither will lonely tower...

hey will you make a guide for CM?
