    My fingers are rounded, & my thumbs are square, so you're not the only one. You ARE the only one (that I've found at least) to make these clear tutorials covering things I've always wanted clarified, but never knew who to ask, so THANK YOU!!!

    Thank you for this! I've been DIY'ing my own nails since I was a kid, but still it takes hours and multiple do-overs to get a smooth coat and not flood the cuticles. But, after your short video, I just did a perfect application of my sheer pink, and it turned out smooth and the cuticle area is even and not flooded!!! First try! Thank you, this is amazing and you make it so easy!

    You're not alone. My thumbs have a square base, but my fingers are rounded (though my pointer fingers flare towards the tips). This was a really helpful tutorial, thank you

      Yes, I also have different shaped nail beds. I prefer nude shades for that reason, but when the difference in shape is looking odd- I will leave small area on side of certain nails un-painted to create slight optical illusion. (I heard this suggested in another video, and found it helpful actually!)

    • @bruh-js7tz
      @bruh-js7tz Рік тому

      I don't have different shaped nail beds, but I do get nail polish on a skin often. I recommend getting a brush, dip it in nail polish remover, and then clean off the nail polish that is on the skin. Sharp or small brushes are probably best for this. If this doesn't work, I'd also recommend a peel-off cuticle guard to peel off any polish that is not on the nail when you are finished. It might take a bit of practice or a few tries to get it perfectly on the cuticle, but you'll get it eventually. Also, the cuticle guard might have a weird smell, that's normal.

    Thank you for doing a video, well a trilogy really, on this. I really can’t do my nails at all, they are naturally dry and despite a healthy diet, I think it’s my epilepsy tablets which causes an issue. I always did the edge as a final step and the base really was difficult and I have different base shapes. Do you have any favourite products?

    Holding the brush flat to my fingers will result in nail polish all over the end of my finger, since I cut (not bite!) my fingernails very, very short -- as short as possible. I use a "ski jump" technique instead.

    A bit wild that you’re suggesting using larger motor muscles for an activity that requires fine motor control. I especially don’t see how the shoulder could possibly get involved when one is painting away from oneself, as you do when painting your own nails.
    I have good control over the brush, so I’ll ignore that advice. Using the edge of the round brush should come in handy though. I have square cuticles and those modern round brushes are the bane of my existence.

    3 things.
    1) do people really not paint straight?
    2) your example is difficult to picture myself doing as a lefty
    3) I almost never paint my nails, they chip instantly and they're brittle

    • @JulieVentura
      @JulieVentura  8 місяців тому

      I’m a lefty! I tend to flip the footage since most people are righties but I’m working on some more content that caters to both so everyone can have an easier time following along. Sorry about that!
      Yes, a lot of people use their wrists and paint the base area by turning the brush instead of painting straight.
      Definitely try applying some cuticle oil or nail oil to your full nail after polishing them and waiting till they’re fully dry! This makes the polish more flexible so it bends with your nail instead of chipping off. I apply at least once a day and it extends the life of your polish mani significantly and keeps your nails healthy by balancing the water retention!
