Best video I watched so far on building a fence.
Thank you so much
Living in Canada, we have to deal with frost heaving of the ground, therefore the posts have to be at least four feet into the ground. I dig the holes about six inches deeper and put a six inch layer of gravel at the bottom. Now comes the fun part. Putting the post into the hole, plumbing it and then putting all the dirt back into the hole. Once completed the post is rock solid, the gravel allows the water to drain and also gives a bit of flexibility so that the posts don't rise and fall with the change of seasons. Easy to replace if the need arises as well. Good looking fence and gate, Chris.
This was amazing, and even more amazing you did the whole thing in flip-flops
Yeah people give me some flack about that I’m thinking of changing my name to the flip-flop fabricator. Thanks for watch brother
while holding a baby
A Glimpse Inside oooz m nomino no m on no. Ojo no o no nnobnonnojojobi j
Love the attitude and the gateway....great job, brother.
I guess it's the little things in life that get me. I know it's really simple but I freaking love the pipe lock at the bottom.
Very true the little things do mean a lot. I appreciate you appreciating the pope lock !!
I loved watching this! Your delivery is fast, smart, friendly, and to the point! You don't waste time and I SO appreciate that! Love it. Very informative and inspiring! Thank you!
+Susan Darcy wow thank you so much for the kind words. I'm so glad to get this kind of feedback. It makes it all worthwhile! Thank you for being a part of the channel
Wow!! You must be so proud of that job👍 And the adorable little lady at the end, she must be thinking "Ain't my daddy smart😉
Thank you so much for making this video! Your gates look great! And... OMG could your little helper/supervisor be more adorable, She's such a little doll !!!
Wow I really like that gate stop! Cool idea!
Amazing job! I love watching it every second! Thanks!
OMG! This the best gate diy I've seen, trying to learn how to do it for my place. Hate not having money to do what I really want to. Husband doesn't care to spend $ on this and doesn't want to change it to better. Dang rabbits, rotten wood and cheeply done by previous owner. There a sloping ground and grass(I call it weeds others call it lawn). No $$$for a nice cement walkway or plants that keep rabbits, field rodents and dogs away!
Just LOVE the happy cute pie at the end!
Yeah she is a cutie. Also thanks for the come and I appreciate you telling me about the situation and I hope you can get something built like this sooner rather than later. Take care
Excellent video. The best part was your baby's approval: priceless. God bless you, my bro.

John Fraboni Thank you very much sir, just practice practice practice! I feel like I still learn something new every single day thanks again!
What a nice video good bless your and ypur family brother!!!
Aside from having an expert on hand, DIY is the greatest teacher! As others have pointed out, adding concrete to the post is required and by far the biggest omission here. I agree with other posts as well, regarding the additional hinges and cross member support for the gate which is lacking here. I would also use some serious caution about the pre-made panels due to the fast growth inexpensive lumber they are made with. You will find this to crack and warp very soon.
I appreciate your concern. I did go back a put concrete in the posts a year ago. As for the other issues. All is great! Thanks again!
Nice dude ! Best is the little child. Your technique was amazing ! Congrats !
Aww baby is so cute ♥️♥️
I love your fence. Good job 👏

Great video. You gave me motivation to do this myself. Your baby girl is so cute. Keep up the great work brother.
Thank you so much. I’m glad you got some value out of it. Awesome
Great video! Thanks!
Thank you and you’re welcome
Great video! I highly recommend, actually, its 100% necessary, to use minimum of 4x4 steel posts for gate posts. Also, steel frames on gates that hinge on the steel gate posts. You would be shocked to see how much wood bends and flexes when opposite weight is applied.
Awesome video!!
Thank you
Great job !!!
Jr. Robert Kd thank you so much!
You Are Good ! , 5 stars !
Perfeito! !!
Love this video. I have to build something kind of similar this summer. =)

Thank you so much
Nice..tank you "😊
Nice job my friend. Looks great. I'll be doing the same job over at my parents house this summer. I'll be referencing this video but mostly I make it up as I go. Keep the vids coming. Get that baby an impact driver. She looks like a junior maker to me.
+Peter Carnegie thank you so much Peter. I'll try to get a video every couple weeks or so. Thank you so much for the encouragement and support. And yes it's been pretty cool to se the growth of my young baby girl through these videos. I hope she joins be in the shop on her own when these days. Thanks again Peter
Nice!!!
Thanks!
Great ideas here. I like your solution for the gap under the gate; couple of questions about that 1. Did you anchor the threshold/ pressure treated 2X material to the ground in anyway to prevent it from rolling? 2. How has everything (especially the hinges) held up so far? My experience with that type of hinge hasn’t been good unless I through bolt them. Can’t believe there are any dislikes on this video. Thanks.
So far so good on the hinges. I agree about the through bolts. My family had a farm and our long swinging gates for the stables definitely needed them. As far is the threshold it is just wedged in place in between the two posts. The threshold consist of two boards that are screwed together and then hammered in place with a really tight Friction fit between the two posts. So far everything is doing great. Thanks for watching
Thank you so very much ,I’ve been looking at videos for two hours ,my budget won’t allow for anything but pallet wood but now I’m able to make a gate . Our neighbors dogs keep pooping in our yards one again thanks . Oh what can I put on the pallets to make them last longer
I like polyurethane formulated for flooring or any type of spar urethane as well
Great stuff brow,,,,
Thank you so much man
Nice project.....looks like you have some cool tools too.......thx for video.
Thanks, yeah. Most were found at estate sales!!
A Glimpse Inside I’m in the middle of making a double wood gate, making a metal frame for it....like you I have trailers/boat/ RV. And other toys I get through mine....they just dont seem to last long, before sagging.......
Freedom 1 a 12’ 6x6 48” into the ground would eliminate any sagging along with thru bolts to attach the gate! I have not experienced Any sagging yet. However I should’ve done what I just said above
A Glimpse Inside, only thing i probably would've done different
would be make the hole and pipe in the 2x8 a bit larger. over
time with expansion and contraction the drop-down piece
might not fit as easily as when things were new. other than
that, a very very nice job.
I definitely appreciate the concern so far so good. Thanks again. As it turns out rust is the most concerning thing however it’s not too bad so far
You got the like because the baby approved of your work! LOL
Hey Chris, I enjoyed the video and your fence/ gate look great! I would be interested to see your preferred painting process once you're able.
Nicholas Wright thank you very much! I really like using a $70 Wagner paint sprayer. They work really well if you keep them clean. However I won't be doing that video for a little while due to the wood still being so wet. And also you can always touch up with a good quality 3 inch brush around the edges. Hope that helps
Most informative! Also, I appreciate the footwear. Just like him, I have steel toes.
Haha. Thanks man. To funny
Cool 😎
Nice flip-flops!
Nice 2x4
Damm nice work
Thank you so much
Terrific work! wish you could do my fence!!!
Thank you so much. I do custom work, however I doubt you’re in northeast Florida. Thanks again
A Glimpse Inside I am all the way in Oklahoma😣

She melts our too. Thank you so much for the kind words!!!
