    Flip flops for the win !! i do most of my outside work in flip flops! i just filled in a hole from where an old dilapidated shed used to be. Previous homeowner just let it rot and sink into the ground. Once the shed was out,it took FOUR dump trucks (~80 yards) of fill dirt to bring the land up enough to where it doesnt pool water and we can FINALLY get to installing our fence! I just might make a video of it so you can see the before and after haha. Great video! I'll be using Sika for the post fill as well. Glad to see it's holding up!

    Back in theday I did fences. When I had weird slopes, I made a template from about 12"x96" 3/4" plywood that matched the dog ears, set it to match the slope with a few screws or clamps, and cut the fence tops to be straight with a 1/4" trim router bit. Pretty fast and takes all the crap out of leveling the panels as they go in.

    Good job. Just a suggestion for you, I own a fence company in alabama. So, to get your top straight, once the posts and framing are up. Run what I call a string board. Set a string board up at the corners and pull a string line across the top and level the line. This will serve as your line for all of your fence boards. And you can make it completely level at the top of your fence. Remember, fences dont level to the ground because the ground isint level. Level it at the top,back fill with dirt or trim the bottom. That is just what we do. I applaud you for your method that worked for you though. Keep at it.

    Well you doing better than the previous homeowner of my home in the diy department, his diy repair of a 3/4” pvc pipe was amazing, yup, first he wrapped with plastic and then slathered silicone all around it and you know what, the mf didn’t leak for years, I was actually replacing another section of the pipe and his silicone patch gave so I replaced the entire run correctly. Please update in a few years because I gotta know if it’s still standing strong with that foam. Tip: use a string line bud

    Great job. I have never used concrete on my fence posts because inevitably the post will rot and you will have to dig up all that cement. A little dirt some water and a good tamp and the fence rails will hold it all in place. Never seen the foam before I'm interested to see how that holds up in the long run. As far as the fence not being flat on top. It's your personal house not a customer's if your good with it keep it. Good job!!

    • @TelsaBom
      @TelsaBom 5 років тому

      Even the original fence was one level the whole length!
      If you drop the gate an inch you could make it level with the right side and close the gap at the bottom which also makes the fence look like c4ap. Then drop the side palings an inch and you would have a pretty nice looking fence.
      At least you have a sense of humour about it.

    Great video. We need to build a fence and yours is nice and easy. I was wondering about no concrete how that would hold up so I think we’ll look into the foam. I also like the idea of cutting the fence to make a gate !!!!

    • @AGlimpseInside

      I can say a few days after the foam was poured it was as strong as concrete IMO. It’s definitely worth the little extra cash. Thanks for watching!

      The foam will wiggle its garbage you need good hard concrete to make a good solid job.

    It must be nice to be able to dig a hole like that and not hit solid limestone about 10" down.

      It is nice. Typically all of Florida is pretty much sand so you give-and-take with what you have

      @@AGlimpseInside South Florida is where you typically find the limestone and coquina. I was in this Youth Conservation Corps until I got kicked out in the late 70's. It was a summer job. We were living on an Air Force Base in Homestead, FL. They literally cut drainage channels deep into the coquina. That was about 40 years ago for me though so I doubt I remember it very well at all. Anyway, we put some fence posts into the ground, chain link fences. I only remember going to lunch, playing at a rec room, going by the Everglades, the deep coquina trenches for drainage putting up some chain link fencing. There was this fat kid who was running his mouth and he called me gay. I got mad and kicked in him the mouth while he was sitting in a chair. Turns out I broke his jaw. Lucky for me I was still a minor. I don't know how I didn't get into a lot of trouble. I guess now if you call someone gay it's supposed to be a compliment or something. Anyway, my dumb ass had to go back to Jacksonville, FL. That was supposed to be a summer job. I lasted about two weeks. I think it was a sign of things to come. I broke that kid's jaw because we had been issued steel toed boots. I failed to mention that. And that fat kid was super fat and way bigger than I was. I was just a chubby kid. He was a total fat ass just running his mouth at me. I got upset and boom, everybody wanted to kill me. They had to keep me in my room for my own safety, from some of the kids anyway. So much for me growing up and that being a character building summer for me.

    I have to wonder if a savvy criminal would simply take the screws off those hinges & bypass your nifty locking mechanism. I know this because I have had my house broken into many times of the years & it was the doors & gates that swing outward that were the areas that thieves always seemed to go for!
