I feel like there are some people who would hear the description "no unique benefits" and interpret that as being derogatory, when it absolutely isn't.
Of for sure. Interpreting “unique” in this context takes way too many brain cells, so it’s a lot more efficient for people to ignore and hear “wow so you think fasting sucks and is useless”
Thank you for the content that you put out guys! You both have that 'doctor' way of speaking which is positive and reassuring :) P.S. Am I missing something and video for the podcasts is available on some platform too? Love the videos!
Would love to. I have reviewed his book a few times. It's very poor with respect to scientific accuracy. However, the dietary pattern recommended is reasonable...it's just not magic as advertised.
I find that I.F. and going as much as three days without eating is a good way to bring my weight back into the range where I want it. Additionally, it trains you to tolerate hunger which most fatties can't abide. Obviously, what you say is correct: The total calories over time will determine your body weight no matter how you do it. I think it's factual to say that obesity is impossible without overeating, yet the world continues to look at obesity as if it were some kind of mystery.
Appreciate the nuance, as always. Question: the American Heart Association had a study done that was recently concluded. Did that not show serious long term health concerns with prolonged intermittent fasting? I'm interested in your take on this. I did read that one of the researchers said their findings "encourage a more cautious, personalized approach to dietary recommendations, ensuring that they are aligned with an individual’s health status and the latest scientific evidence", that does sound familiar here.
I've always eaten two meals. Big breakfast, big dinner. Muscle growth might be better if I ate more meals, but meh. If intermittent fasting is being used to avoid overeating for weight loss, I think there is a micronutrient or fiber deficiency present. Quality food will make it much easier to control the quantity of food, regardless of the eating window.
Struggled with weight all of my life. I've lost 100+ 4 different times. Every other weight loss regime I've ever tried has had me hungry every day. AD fasting works for me because I'd much rather be hungry only on fasting days than 24-7. I can handle that and it works so far. Also, I don't fast on lifting days, so that works out :)
If Im in calorie deficit I'd much rather take zero time to prepare no food than just make smaller meals.
Would be cool if it worked that way, but it tends not to…on average. If it works for you, that’s great!
But what about its effect on Gainz?

Agreed. I suspect future comments will reflect this oversight 😂
those folks would be nuance deficient

Must be tough being as built as Austin. He cant even have doors in his house
Or the amount of food they have to eat lmao
Very interesting, thanks guys
I would like to see you talking with Dr.Jason Fung about it. Or at least reviewing his book.

So it mostly comes back to calories in calories out and dietary adherence? Imagine that🤯🤯🤯
I eat all day from when I wake up until shortly before going to bed, but I find it difficult to put on and maintain weight.
Truly appreciate the nuanced, informative discussion. Wish more of the internet was like this.

This is a discussion, not a debate
