    Hey hey party people! I am using a new film editing software (Filmora) for the first time ever! I taught myself, I'm still working out the kinks, so please be kind! Make sure to check the description box, it's full of book info and links!

    • @maggir8220
      @maggir8220 4 роки тому +3

      Editing looks great, I love seeing examples popping up on the screen :) The audio sounds very fleeting for lack of a better word, not sure if it has to do with the software? I wonder if you adjust the levels of your audio, it seems a bit high pitched compared to your voice compared to your live streams for example. your speech is very dynamic which i love, i just wish the volume and quality would be more constant.

    • @zoehongteaches
      @zoehongteaches  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, I'm not happy with the sound. I might edit the sound in Audition and add the audio file to Filmora afterwards. The rain did not help. Curious about how it will like my voiceover mic. Thanks for the feedback! Making the popups was fun!

      I would recommend using a canon camera for video recording it’s great for longer videos and high quality resolution maybe when you start a pattern making video it’ll be great.

    If only we had you as a professor at my college. I dreaded going to my fashion classes 😓 We would love it, if you started a whole series on pattern making. The course that I took when I was in college was God awful. It was the professors first year of teaching and I barely passed. I would gladly support you on patreon. ❤️

    A video on designing the insides of garments would be super helpful! We learn a lot aesthetics and what the outside is going to look like, but often those ideas are hard to execute without a solid understanding of what needs to go into the under structures and linings.

    Just want to say thank you so much! I actually stumbled upon your vids after getting interested in sewing clothes, I have done small stuff like bags, etc.
    Also the fashion figure ones helped me improve my sketching people (I do trad and digital arts but still find it hard to get the anatomy right and clothes draping so I always do a more stylized thing).
    I now have long term project, designing my wedding dress! Will be getting married in 2024, and I want to be able to sketch it myself and choose the fabrics in a way that makes it easier as well for the sew shop to materialize exactly like how I imagine it.

    YES to a video about linings. also I'd love a video about WARMTH- what materials/fabrics do you use for certain temperature ranges and things like that. like say it's a 5 degree winter day out in new york city, what would be a good shell/interfacing/lining combo to handle that weather.

    I learned essentially the same method for preparing for easing, but one row of basting stiches is on one side of the seam line, and the other row is on the OTHER side. I think this helps control unwanted pleating when you do the final stitching.

    Great information. I believe they need fit profiles for smaller sizes as well. I am a size 8/10 and have yet to find pants to fit my fuller thighs. The blocks companies use to make garments should have different blocks for waist and hips. It would give parts of the population a fighting chance to find RTW garments that fit. I have heard of some companies using the same block for every style of pants they make. That's great if the block fits, if not you are in a long wait until they move on from that block.

    As someone with experience in graphic design, and experience with Adobe Illustrator since version 4, Affinity Designer has all the capabilities of Illustrator, I actually switched over to it recently. The workflows of the two programs are quite a bit different though, but you'll probably manage to learn Illustrator in the 30day trial period after learning on a different vector based illustration application.

    On plus size: You nailed it on all points.
    Lumps and rolls are a thing. Stretch fabric fits more bodies. But it often makes humans, who have flesh and fat, which is poorly approximated by a dress form of any shape, look like walking balls of flesh and fat.
    People don’t buy clothes that make them look bad. Or they buy one piece, because they need it, and never seek your brand out again.
    People spend the maximum their budget allows for, on clothing that makes them look and feel good. They seek your brand out again. They budget for buying another one of those magical garments. Make me feel comfortable and confident in your clothes, and I will keep buying.
    Edit: And give me pockets. The pockets that can’t be designed into garments because they’re cheap, thin, stretch knit which makes me look lumpy, are much easier to design into the structured the garments using sturdier fabric - which you’re using to avoid the lumpy look. So just put them in.

      Don't worry about it. We are all locked up. I would teach online even if you were across the street.

      Getting into a fashion shool is really a tough thing out here. Discovering you was the best thing. My progress seems pretty slow without a degree but you're of great help. I truly thank you for that.
