Wich one should i start with ? Should i start with the drawing books first? ( i never try to draw fashion design , i try but I’m not good :( should i go first with the drawing books or the fashion and fiber books as a beginner!? )
I love all of these books. I’m brand new to sewing and every single one of these books made my heart beat a little faster. Thanks for this great video! 👍💝🌸
I dunno if you mentioned it, but did you ever look into Fashionary? Like textilepedia and such? I'v seen a lot about that elsewhere and was wondering if you would recommend.... cuz they pretty expensive $$
Awesome! I'm definitely starting with Zero Waste Fashion Design and Professional Sewing Techniques for Designers. I never want my products to look "homemade". I was lucky enough to learn my sewing techniques from my friend who worked in the industry for a long time and free lanced for the pageant world. Hopefully I don't have "home sewing" habits to unlearn. Thank you so much!
You are a godsend. I'm not trying to go to school because i have ADHD and other neurodivergent ailments and school isn't set up for me, so i want to teach myself and you answered all my questions for what i need with these books. I love you and please don't stop creating these videos. 💜💜💜
I did the exact same thing LOL I was going to write a comment but I was pretty late to the video so I didn't think Zoe would see! Are there any more anatomy books that you recommend? Thank you for this 💕
Zoe Hong Do you have a recommendation on a book or resource for overall terminology? I am not a fashion designer. I need something more for finding correct terminology when writing descriptions of garments like for marketing and copywriting purposes. I was told to try a book called Fashionpedia but haven’t had a chance to order yet.
Almost a year later I found this channel, it's August 6th, 2021. I actually sew for dolls, but I am very intrigued with historical fashion and couture sewing. I made a list of all the books you presented and will be taking a serious look. Thanks for this resource!
@@zoehongteaches ....i honestly think that people in fashion should read....THING OF BEAUTY ..THE TRAGEDY of SUPERMODEL GIA....it explains the history of fashion on every level....and this stylish edgy unfortunate beautiful woman and her influence on it all....
OMG. How did you know😩😩 for the last 2 days I’ve been searching for the right books because I’ve already waisted so much money on books that was not helpful at all. THANK YOU🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️
I'd love to see a video about writing for fashion, like, what kind of writing skills and techniques are important in the fashion industry? thanks so much for all of your helpful info!
Thank you for your interesting, valuable videos. I've been sewing for years, love altering stuff for myself. I'm retired now so i can play with fabric and designs as much as i want! I have had to adjust to not being a size 2 anymore, and i have to check myself a little with my tendency to wild colors. Bohemia is my natural environment. Yes, i make my curtains and pocketbooks and rugs too!😁 Thank you again for being such a valuable resource! I hope you make lots of money with the Amazon links, you deserve it
I'm gonna pray for you a lot,Thank you so much Zoe❤ And I also pray that you'll keep all these videos available for everyone always. Please don't delete them or make them private ever!! 😭 If I ever make it to the industry with your help, I promise I'll meet you and Give you lots of love. 😘😍😍
I would like to say; I love you! But I don't know you so that would be over the top. But I love the feeling you gave me. You awoken my inspiration. Looking at these books made my hearth jump and my will to create. So thank you Zoe.
Im here from Ethiopia(Africa) madly in love with fashion. My dad is coming from America and i wanted him bring me fashion books form there. And tadaaaa you appeared. Now i know which book he has to bring me. Thankyou zoe. God Bless you!
Thank you so much Zoe for such wonderful work that you are doing. I have been following your UA-cam channel for 4 years now. I am a Fashion Design student and your videos have taught me more than what my University has taught me in 2 years. It is because of you that I have come to know that Fashion is not just Glamour but there is a ton of research and understanding that goes into it. Thank you so much!!!!
My book list grows once again because of this video. I often find myself going through my older books from time to time. Each time something jumps out at me. Always on the lookout for more knowledge. Thanks.
@@zoehongteaches If only more people had this attitude. From time to time, I run into people who insist that they know it all and therefore there is nothing out there to expand their knowledge. One look at their sewing says otherwise and is rather cringe worthy.
My wife gave me her copy of 9 heads by Nancy Riegelman from her own school days. Even though I’m not doing fashion design, more comic, manga and sifi drawing I find it a wonderful reference for faces, figures and drawing clothes. I have the Human figure and color theory book. Both great resources. Thanks for the tips. Keep doing what your doing your so helpful.
you look prettier everyday. Hey zoe, do a video teaching how to talk to ourselves (like in our minds or out loud when we're alone). Your "peppy" personality really gives us life.
Dear Zoe, thank you so much for this video! There are quite a few video's on UA-cam on the subject and yours is by far the best one! I am also impressed by your effective presentation style: quick, compact and no blablabla. I have ordered one book from the list already and put three more on my short list. Some books unfortunately are $$$ or no longer available. But at least now I know what I really need for my sewing library. I have subscribed to your channel.
Just got my two books Fabric sewing guide by Claire And The Fashion Design Course by Steve I wanted to get the pattern making by dennic but next week I will be purchasing. Thank you will be watching more of your videos becoming a self taught fashion designer pattern maker and just sewing my own/kids wardrobes ♥️🙏🏼🔥
Hey Zoe - do you think fashion is headed toward more military utilitarian garb after the Pandemic? As for myself, I want basic wear, nothing fancy as I continue to downsize and focus on health, brainpower and the arts in a world that has changed where resources are undergoing a tremendous shift.
Hahaha i just came across your channel about the different fabrics and then i was like damn I need to get some books to start then BOOM you give it all 😭🤞🏽 you’re the best
Oh wow Ms. Zoe Hong all of the books are great, all the subjects are spot on for those of us who love Fashion Design! I will be getting FASHION DESIGN COURSE Book for sure. Thank you for all the great knowledge you share through this wonderful Platform and Channel!
This is super duper helpful Zoe! I was wondering if there are more books other than the “vendor compliance handbook “ on how to start a fashion label and market the clothes successfully. Like the websites and the trade fairs and finding clients and multi brand stores and how to sell them internationally?
Thank you for the recommendation, I always wants to lean fashion design, while reality I become a programmer, will pick fashion design course as a start, like this video and subscribe immediately and follow you to move me closer to my dream
Haven't gone to fashion school, so I can't give that perspective on it. But i've read and owned all the books mentioned in the video (with the exception of the fashion illustration and vendor compliance) and they are great :) Highly recommended by me :D Just know they are some chunky boys you are getting :) and you may need more shelfing for books.
I need the knitwear book, my future is being a crocheting fashion designer, but I also wanna do a documentary on the downfall where no one do crochet, knitting, or yarn fashion.(with Bazaar?
It's funny, I had scoured the internet for good books on fashion design, took me months to find everything I needed, and you made an entire list of them in a short 12 minute video lol! This is a great video because if you are like me and truly value books as a resource of learning, you can avoid hours and hours of scimming and reading reviews and such. These really are the best books you can get on this subject.. especially Helen Joseph Armstrong's patternamking for fashion design book, there is also a draping book that she did and its absolutely amazing
Not exactly what I was looking for, I guess these books are specific to the fashion industry. I’m trying to find books on clothing and materials people wear based on the environment, era, location, etc for character designing. The rendering material and color theory books looked interesting though.
On a budget? Pick one or two subjects to start studying first and get those books! My amazon shop is here: www.amazon.com/shop/zoehong
