I’m a 59 year old grandma, I have been sewing all my life, I’m self taught. I can remember making doll clothes by hand before I went to kindergarten. I’m learning so much from you. Thank you.

As a fashion design student, I had to make a whole collection based on draping last semester, and this video would have saved me A WHOLE LOT of crying on the floor with muslin everywhere, but hey I will definitely rewatch this video again and again to internalize all the tips Mrs Zaytoun gave us! Sidenote: I love her last name, because in arabic it means Olive! 😂😊

Draping is not an easy task to teach. You found someone who consciously chooses her words and really expresses the intructions in a coherent manner! Thank you for this video. And it may be basic, but i can bound from this strong foundation! I really want to purchase a male body form...any good suggestions?

Exactly !!! I’m trying to work on design. And getting rid of the generic pattern use. But I’m a 5-11 male petite hahaha so I don’t have a bust! So yes knowledge on darts which she explained perfectly. Can you make a bodice for men?

@@bgonzalez137 Male bodice is very simple and straightforward comparing to female bodice. It's not a similar challenge.

Recently, I was working on a project and run out of chalk so I grabbed the white watercolour pencil to mark with. Watercolour pencils are now my favourite thing to mark with. They're creamy, mark easily, can be sharpened into a point, don't smudge with fingers but wash out perfectly easily AND there's a wide range of colours to choose from.

There is no reason if you have the will to learn, that you can not sew for yourself. You can! I'm self taught. I've been sewing for 15 years. I learned by deconstructing garments bought at the good will thrift shop and then putting them back together for my daughter. I know my thumbnail picture is small but 6 years ago I made that costume for my daughter. Sewing is like putting together a puzzle.
Thank you for your channel. I'm learning new things every time I work on a project.
Now that my daughter is grown I thought I might do some selfish sewing for myself.
Isn't it funny that I've not sewn a single garment for me? The thought never entered my mind.
LOL Kids! Again, thank you. You are helping me find the passion for garments again.

Thank you. I have always wanted a dress form but never had one. I sewed all my girls clothes and coats but I could never get anything to fit just right with me. My daughter bought me a dress form when I was struggling to alter her wedding dress. Well, it was a nightmare. But it turned out and she was beautiful. Too bad the judge didn't show up for the wedding. LOL It was during COVID at a park in 32 degree weather. He forgot. Wedding to remember. Anyway her form doesn't adjust and I happen to pick one up at Habitat for Humanity. They have been sitting there looking pretty for two years trying to figure out how to use them. Thank you so much for going into detail with this. I love lace and pin tucks and want to make my own clothes. I am a new subscriber. Too bad they won't let me sew for their kids. They say the dresses are too old fashioned. I guess they didn't care for the pinafores. 🤣

Your channel needs a sponsorship, you deserve a good revenue for the abundant amount of knowledge you have and sharing with us. I have learned over the past week from just your channel alone the proper way to do exactly what is necessary to run my brand. The one thing tho Zoe if you've covered it is , or not would be to talk about How to start a small collection, then allowing that collection to build steadily , instead of just trying to get the brand to center stage without learning the necessary fundamentals of financing a startup, or even established brand. That would be cool

I don't have a dress form either but am inspired by the many ways I've seen to make your own. Search for videos. And Xmas is a time when many forms go on sale. If you can't find one close to your size, get the one that fits the best and then you can add your own padding (thing sheets of foam, padded bra and underwear, etc.)

I have always wondered what and how a form was/is used. Mariah is awesome 😎 and if I was a young chick 🐣 (boy or girl chick) I would have loved this and hopefully someone who doesn’t know it yet may come across this video, and become totally interested and become an entrepreneur in fashion. Who knows? But sorry it won’t be me. 69 yo and happily knitting socks between yarn arriving (Covid19) here so I can create garments. I love crocheting as well.
Keep up these awesome videos and I can see you have so many in your Videos.
I used the French Seam so much through all my years of creating my daughters son and nephews clothing on my home sewing machine.

This was so beyond fabulous. I wanted to know all this decades ago. The instructions covered every question I've been wondering about since I was a kid. I learned to sew at three and my mother used to tell me how her own mother sewed everything without a pattern, purely by draping, and to me that was a superhuman accomplishment. Thanks so much for explaining it all so well. Now I know how to draft a sloper. I just need first to make myself a dress form.
