  • Kyosho Mini Z Jeep Rubicon running on the Indoor RC Crawler Course Mondo Mountain made for the Axial SCX24. Sorry for the wind noise and the camera angles I couldnt hold the camera and control this controller. Before you comment yes I did replace and put brand new batteries and I tried different sets of batteries they were all giving me the issue with it not wanting to reverse on occasions and the throttle not been consistent. I ordered the mini Z online as we don’t have a local hobby store here in amble Texas and there’s one on the opposite side of Houston not too far from here but they don’t sell the micro crawlers.

The minisi is closer to a 1/27th scale. With what would be stock street tires on it as opposed to the scx 24 which if put to scale would have massive 40-in tires on it or bigger.
Also as far as the reverse is concerned the mini z has a break function so the first time you tap reverse it just stops and if you have the light kit to brake lights come on. Basically you have to double tap to get reverse and not hit forward in between. And if your trim is slightly off it may be not letting that happen. Yeah this is a bit wonky but whatever.

I’m playing a comparison between the two as well. Totally agree on the reverse of the the mini z... just drive ya nuts sometimes! Great video and I love the 1/24 scale millionaire comment!

Thanks my friend. I got some upgrades for the mini z! I can’t wait to put them on and give them a run, I’ll probably make a video. Lol. I can’t help myself, I just get to exited about new parts. It’s great that almost anyone can be a 1/24 millionaire, I don’t have a 1/10th yet, still car-less working on budget.

Scx24 has reliability issues...motors etc burn out...and their customer service is the same as garbage. The kyosho triple As batteries as the powerplant is a genius idea and are widely available, dummy proof, and safe. You can run this truck anywhere in the world as I have when traveling for business. The only drawback with the mini z is its hefty price tag...

YO the axials are 1/24 scale and the mini z is 1/18 DAA of course the axial will do better because the tires are a lot bigger but if that mini z had the same size tires on it I bet it would kick the shit of that axial !!!

I wonder if the mini Z body Would fit the axial, another great video appreciate sharing, love watching your videos, you make them enjoyable happy trailing

Oh man it almost fits! The mini Z is to scale so the body is a little shorter on the wheelbase so it doesn’t lineup perfect but it looks OK from a distance, I tried ordering a body to put on my jeep and then I saw how much they were and change my mind! they’re like 80 bucks! but they do look awesome! In order to get the front bumper to cover the back fender comes down right at the center of the wheel well so in the suspension is compressed you’ll notice it but if the jeeps just sitting it looks awesome!

Awesome video! You should get that baby swapped out though. That reverse is no good.

I used to own a mini Z race car I had the same issue with the remote when you go in reverse the first time you hit the trigger it won’t work but on the second time it will if I recall there is a setting to change that so it’ll work right away I just don’t remember you might want to read up on that

Was your reverse fixable on the Kyosho?
    Thanks m8!

Hey man sorry took so long to replay, it’s the connection. If I’m standing in certain spots the remote doesn’t respond, it’s already jumpy because you have to double click to reverse as is.
