The "dogs" not rushing you because you are not running is actually pretty realistic. A lot of animals, such as dogs, chase you once you start running because they are predatory. It's always recommended to avoid eye contact and NEVER start running when in danger of being attacked.
Honestly had no idea that not running is a safer option, I almost got attacked while at work one day (I'm a pizza delivery guy) and I went to the wrong house by mistake, the dog actually let me walk past it towards the front door but as soon as I knocked it started growling at me, I immediately knew something was up. I just instinctively kept eye contact and just slowly walked around the dog in a pretty big circle, the dog was actively barking, growling, and inching closer to me. I made it back in my car and as I was leaving I saw that the dog was keeping pace with my car, he was right up next to my driver side window, it was some scary shit. I still get spooked by dogs that bark at me, especially bigger dogs. Definitely makes me more of a cat person now lmao.
The thing I find amazing about this game is the little attention to detail. I kinda know that Henry is some sort of blank character, but after every major event in the game (each death and scenario you go by) the descriptions for every item in the room, such as the TV, the clock, the wall photos change, giving you a wider look into Henry's persona. There's a fan theory he might be autistic. He may be a bit of a blank but we know he does care about people, as he does try to save the people who die in front of him or mildly panics when he knows there is nothing he can do as he watches them suffer. He seems to take the deaths of women especially hard (not that he doesn't care about the men, he does).
Yeah there's an incredible amount of information packed into the game. The story is a lot more complicated than people realize. The AI also some weird quirks to it you wouldn't pick up on without looking it up.. I just wish they had more time to improve the Eileen escort problems.

@@MeatSim64 About 1:45:00. Anytime after Apartment World once Eileen is hospitalized basically. It's telling Henry "you're next" since Eileen & Henry were supposed to be the 20th & 21st sacraments respectively. And if you look out the windows before Apartment World /before/ Eileen is attacked, you'll see Walter in the building across the street pointing at her apartment.
This will be a joy to watch. Out of all survival horror games, this is the one that always seemed impossible to no damage. With both the hauntings, and the ghost auras.
Carci's horror game videos are timeless and is always a joy to come back and watch again countless times. Always thanking your efforts uploading, dude.
There are four possible endings, determined by whether or not Eileen survived the fight and on the condition of Henry's apartment. The "21 Sacraments" ending sees Walter and his child manifestation in his apartment, while the radio reveals that Henry and Eileen have died, along with the superintendent Frank Sunderland and several others. In "Eileen's Death," Henry awakens in his apartment, and learns from his radio that Eileen has died, to his sorrow. In "Mother," Henry escapes from his apartment building, and brings flowers to Eileen, who plans to return to the apartment building. His apartment, meanwhile, has become completely possessed. "Escape" begins similarly to the "Mother" ending, but Eileen resolves to find a new place to live, and his apartment is not shown to be possessed
@@60secondgaming21 You must be new to the Silent Hill games, nearly all Silent Hill games have a UFO ending there is also a dog ending in SH:2 and sometimes the UFO ending has the same shiba as the dog ending from 2. It's ok that you don't know that because you are new to the series, but don't try and claim Silent Hill is or isn't something based on your limited knowledge of it. But no, SH:4 and SH:Downpour do not have joke endings.
Same this the only one im about to watch from start to finish again. This one has the best enemies. Lets show those ghost how much we love them with a sword to the chest
SH2 takes the cake for me, with this one following close second. I really like the abstractness and cathartic chaos being the representation of the horror in the game.
God, how I loved that game when I was younger. Never managed to play through it, took breaks every 20 minutes because it scared me too much. Today I'm fearless. Thank you, Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
I’ve played this game countless times, and still, the part that rattles me the most, is that Henry’s apartment has it’s own laundry room, rather than the typical communal laundry space in the building basement. So lavish 😂
Re-watching this, I just realized something I can't believe I missed. The numbers (e.g. 18121) aren't numbers but fractions out of 21, as only the thousands digit seems to go up per victim (back to 18121, it would actually be 18/21, in case that wasn't obvious).
Spoilers: Not super important but the ghost at 43:50 is Victim 4: Steve Garland. A pet store owner, Steve favored animal over people; as the latter easily angered him. He was shot and had his heart removed by Walter Sullivan who then proceeded to slaughter all the animals in the store.
also in SH1 Lisa's surname is Garland, but it is unknown if they are related Steve appears to be in his late 40's early 50's so it's possible he was Lisa's father as Lisa was 23 before dying due to her drug addiction before the events of SH1
I think it's odd that Henry and Eileen are so flippant about another place to live. There's no way you're coming through that experience well adjusted and with no screws loose.
It is bizarre. I think the commitment towards ones' home is much more present in Japan. Like there is widespread racism here in the USA, there is a societal dislike/hate for foreigners in Japan. It is their home & belongs to them. This game has a much more Japanese feel to it in general-- the curses, ghosts, hauntings, rituals, monster designs, etc... Just some speculation from an American asshat on the internet
I know right? They've just witnessed irrefutable evidence of life after death, along with indescribable horrors that lurk in the dark, waiting for someone to unleash them again upon the world. And what does Eileen say? "I guess we need to find another place to live, eh?".
It is really funny how every resident evil character goes on to fight BOW's even after their journeys end. But silent hill characters are always like "lol that shit was crazy I guess it's time to leave and never talk about this again"
Michael Crichton often showed his characters dealing with shell shock after the final battle. Jurassic Park is a great example, but in the film, it just ends when they get to the helicopter. Reminded me of HG Wells. I want more of that. Makes characters feel more authentic, but it's rare in any kind of modern writing.

EZIO STONE More like "dead lifeless" the entire game, that was the one thing I noticed from my first play thru way back when SH4 first came out. Even the most horrific scene in the game didn't elicit much reaction. The most reaction I ever saw was when he entered room 301 and got the Keys of Liberation. And that was to the horrid stench. in there.
I wish they explained that He more than likely experienced heavy amounts of trauma, clinical depression/suicidal, disassociative, introverted etc. He probably doesnt give a shit about life in general.
hard? you have invincibility frames when landing a charge attack. also the clarity is much clear, so you know where the enemy will came from. but the enemy is so creepy
@@itsmethedog3718 puzzles is always pretty unintuitive in SH games and requires you to go outside of the box to figure it out, but never that annoying like having to look up something specific (like the binary code in Crooked Man or Shakespherian reference in 3), so yes.
I've never played any Silent Hill past the first two games, so I only can go off of heresay, but I remember Yahtzee once said that Silent Hill 4 is on the extreme end when it comes to ideas: The good ideas the game had to innovate are genuinely great and the bad ideas that bog it down make it insufferable. Hell, the first thing you said about hard difficulty is to not play it, so I guess it checks out, but I guess I'll figure that out in 4 hrs. And before I forget to say it - great to see more of your content :> Edit while watching: I'd rather have a bottomless bottle of banana milk, but oh well. Also interesting key puzzle.
Did u love the game? Remember it was originally going to be a SH game but kinda in a similar world but at the end they just put it in so that's why this one isent even in SH .its my favorite..yea this one has extremely polarizing opinions but its actually really good tho
Awesome video as usual. Although I really liked this game when it came out, I got the 21 sacraments ending and never replayed it because it was an exhausting experience. Amazed that a no damage run could be done. Please do more uploads. It feels like it takes forever for a new video to get posted. Also, Silent Hill Homecoming next? Maybe? Possibly?
Good run, mate. I enjoyed following along. Though I still got quite a few damage because of my recklessness. Plus, I didn't have your luck as shown multiple times. LOL. Your commentary wasn't annoying too. It was so precise, actually. Liked and subbed on ya. Keep rocking, mate.
The room actually continues to heal Henry until he speaks with Eileen the first time. The bug spray works pretty good on the Jimmy Stone ghost. It'll knock him out for a good long while. It does on PS2 anyway.
I hope this game gets a remake, it really needs one. It has such a good story, great graphics, horrific style, unique elements, and so much potential to be as good as the first 3 games. I just wish it wasn't so buggy, didn't have such shit sound design, wasn't so clunky to play, and didn't have such a god awful protagonist
I always got the impression that Henry is incredibly antisocial and introverted, possibly even on the autism spectrum. It would make sense, seeing as he seems almost "okay" with being locked in his apartment, and no one really seems to be looking for him. He's lonely, weird, probably dealing with depression, and obviously has no idea how to communicate with people properly. It specifically contrasts with Cynthia, who's incredibly forward flirting is ENTIRELY ignored by Henry. I kinda like it, honestly.
@@mushymcmushington7176 actually, that's Henry, and even though I like him, he could react a little bit more to the worlds changing - ghost-monsters-deadpeople thing.
My only concern is that they would ruin the tone & and atmosphere (aka, the charm) by updating the graphics. Doesn't matter though, Konami is a trash fire & there will never be any remakes
🤘 really liked your Resident Evil content...been playing RE2 remake lately and your strats really work...I never realized until I tried your strats how important inventory management actually is..in the beginning I was always afraid I'd run out of ammo but a key is using the ammo you have wisely

Thank you p00s lord carci, your work is appreciated.
Been waiting for this one! Thank you for all your hard work!
Carci “coppin a feel” Gen
More like a "hard foot to the groin" than coppin, LOL
Somewhere I read that some of the hauntings were cut from the PC version, like the bloody peephole, the shadowy figure in the closet, the photo of the Balkan church that transforms into the picture of Walter's dead body's head, and the I'M ALWAYS WATCHING YOU phone call from Joseph.
Last time I played this on PC, I got the telephone hunting.
A new Carci video?! My evening viewing is now sorted!
Bro your the best at any horror game, i toke an eternity to pass this game when I was 15 years old, was so difficult to me. Thanks for revive my memories of silent Hill 4 bro.
Your the best at gameplayz.
Guess who's back? Back again. Tell a friend. Carcinogen!
Lol nice
Not going to lie man. You are a beast.
Also thanks to your re7 madhouse playthrough I was able to beat it a few days ago an got all the collectables as well.
You are tearing my sanity apart, Lisa!
You absolute madlad I salute you the ghosts are very hard to not take damage from you are the best silent hill player in my opinion
yooo finally, since i never gone to twitch i just can't bother to visit after you made the announcement..
aaand its finally on youtube, and thank you for your amazing video as usual
This guys content is quality fall asleep to it on in the back ground and watch it on my second monitor whilst I'm working guy deserves a medal and more subs
finally had the time to watch this after I almost forgot about it, Im so glad I get to watch my fav silent hill game get a no dmg run by carci ty so much
I looooove your RE runs so much and i'm a big fan of SH, thanks for your work, i'll definitely share your channel with my friends
I really appreciate these challenge runs you upload, I remember playing this game as a kid and I probably would never have beaten it lol.
Also, some might say to attempt this run may be carcinogenic
nah, so can you
@@CarcinogenSDA wholesome
Carci getting chocolate milk is the real good ending
carci
Wow just incredible how you play these games without sustaining damage. You deserve more attention
the ending mode shown here in this game, is the "Escape mode"
No matter how many times I play it, this game never fails to scare the ever loving shit out of me.
You are a pro. Such a delight finding this playthrough.
Thanks for including all the lil details. Missed alot of them as a kid.
the most terrifying enemies in Silent Hill 4: the mosquitoes.
I thought they were bats
"That was the call of the wild fuckboy."
That line sent me lmao
Oh something to watch for my birthday thanks Carci :)
Happy birthday 🎉🎁🎂
Thank you lol
Pppppffffffffffft daaaaaaayum i farted hot potent ass
How did this guy get away with casually saying he keeps a umbilical cord in his room 😂
I mean his son searched in a dirty toilet for a key. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT!?
The ghost in the closet is the coolest haunting. I would say a close second are the spooky shoes.
1:12:43 That wasn't an "ouch!" kinda fall! That was definietly a *splat* kind!
I bet you're glad to be finished with Walter's trolling and the hummer infestation, especially with no damage
Finally got around to it my man this games still zn absolute classic
7:46 It's funny how Henry looks relaxed while someone from his dreams is talking to him from a disconnected phone XD
13:22 Henry posing when he sees a hot girl XD
It's funny how Henry's voice actor sounds like he got out of bed 10 minutes before recording and sounds like he phoned in his lines and doesn't care about his performance
And that was to the horrid stench. in there.
@@TheGhostGuitars That was the secret storage room of Room 302, not Room 301. And the game manual says that Henry "never lets his feelings show."
@@PlanetNateGaming I'm sure it was "intentional" like the shitty voice acting in SH2
I wish they explained that He more than likely experienced heavy amounts of trauma, clinical depression/suicidal, disassociative, introverted etc.
He probably doesnt give a shit about life in general.
Yo this vid came to my life 3 weeks later!! I had to watch another gameplay when I wanted to watch yours :c
"He totally copped a feel " LMAO bro ....
He totally did 😂
The best way to play silent hill 4 in hard mode is not to play it..... GOLD
i've been dying to see you play Silent Hill 4, I won't miss this for the world.
You was great, I'd enjoyed it I watched it to the end.
I like the part where Carci gets distracted by the room with the geocities dancing baby gif.
In my opinion this is the creepiest and hardest Silent Hill game ever made.
Same
hard? you have invincibility frames when landing a charge attack. also the clarity is much clear, so you know where the enemy will came from.
but the enemy is so creepy
@@azizabdul8914 Cool, but the puzzles wheren't that easy right?
@@itsmethedog3718 puzzles is always pretty unintuitive in SH games and requires you to go outside of the box to figure it out, but never that annoying like having to look up something specific (like the binary code in Crooked Man or Shakespherian reference in 3), so yes.
yeah no syncing those s is fucking hard
Fr I did not know you can just walk past the Sniffers with no harm. I kept running and having them fuck with me everytime. Thank you
I can't believe you did this! THANK YOU!
YESS!! Finally i can complete the whole series hahaha
Love you Carci!!
Hey dont mind the sounds in the apartment, but lately my umbilical cord in my room started to smell real bad...
Another awesome run! Thanks Carci!
And before I forget to say it - great to see more of your content :>
Edit while watching: I'd rather have a bottomless bottle of banana milk, but oh well. Also interesting key puzzle.
Did u love the game? Remember it was originally going to be a SH game but kinda in a similar world but at the end they just put it in so that's why this one isent even in SH .its my favorite..yea this one has extremely polarizing opinions but its actually really good tho
Massive appreciation for the 'no commentary' video, friend. I'll defo like and comment on both.
Great commentary and often great sense of humor.
You make this covid19 pandemic quarantine less boring.
Keep rocking, mate.
good lord how many attempts did this take
Watching Carci live do this was hilarious
All of the attempts
Don't... don't ask.
The room actually continues to heal Henry until he speaks with Eileen the first time.
The bug spray works pretty good on the Jimmy Stone ghost. It'll knock him out for a good long while. It does on PS2 anyway.
Thanks for this. I've always wanted to watch a full playthrough of SH4 but never could find one. Good stuff. :)
Can someone please explain to me why Eileen's gigantic creepy head is in one of the hospital rooms? What's the symbolism here?
*sexual moaning*
I think it has something to do with the player using the hole to spy on eileen.
Spying on her and maybe also to just freak you out. japan has also a mythology of big heads hunting you or being able to transform and play tricks.
Inverse peephole -> inverse voyeurism
I never realised that you can just walk around dogs. As I remember it was always a case of "One of those damn dogsOHMYGODRUN..!!!"
Damn jasper went from to zero to 💯 quick 😳 you just read message for second an dude setting himself on fire
"we absolutely need cynthia to go down" i bet, carci. i bet. lmao
Henry is truly a mime, that failed mime school. Then somehow ended up in a Silent Hill game. A fucking Bore.
I actually enjoy this game in spite of Henry
🤘 really liked your Resident Evil content...been playing RE2 remake lately and your strats really work...I never realized until I tried your strats how important inventory management actually is..in the beginning I was always afraid I'd run out of ammo but a key is using the ammo you have wisely
dude i never fell in love with fiction character (Really no joke) but after i played this SH4 and i saw Eileen Galvin (especially what she wears during rescuing her) I never thought i would Love this Eileen, literally I love her
This game, tied with Silent Hill 2 probably had some of brilliant soundtracks in the series.
Henry: Are you Okay?
Cynthia: Do I look okay? I'm fucking bleeding to death
Sh4 has the best demo cutscene. It's freaking amazing!
@@gaminggoddess85 I like that part too. Also, the part where Cynthias ghost starts crawling toward the camera always freaked me out.
Thanks for the walkthrough
Another awesome video.! Never played this game so it was fun to watch this playthrough. Music is still decent!
I was waiting for this one. Came out sooner than I expected.
