I absolutely one hundred percent agree. I have never climbed a mountain. I've barely climbed a hill. But, like 5 or 6 years ago I just so happened to come across a video about Mount Everest on UA-cam and I'm an unfortunately insatiable curious person, so I watanched it. Well, that was that long ago and here I am STILL watching any and everything I can find on mountain climbing because I am fascinate with the mental and physical fortitude it takes to tackle such a monumental goal. And what you are capable of doing in life if you're motivated enough. I mean, I can barely get motivated to make dinner some nights. And these amazing human beings can push their bodies and minds to places that a hundred years ago, we would have thought impossible. I love the explorations of the northwest passage and the poles too. I am living vicariously through through all of these insanely amazing tough individuals and it helps me to get motivated and to pull energy from wherever I can because if these ppl can climb to damn near space and survive a place that's literally trying to kill them, I can pick up the broom and throw some spaghetti together. y'all are a fantastic source of motivation. And not only to housewives that sometimes let boredom get the best of them but to the people who have come after you and seen your stories and felt that they had a dream and they should pursue that dream because they would never forgive themselves if they didn't. I hope you're all doing spectacularly and thank you for sharing this harrowing story of bravery determination and perseverance.

I also got this dropped into my suggested by the algorithm and I'm not sure why, but what a story! I remember hearing about these gentlemen when they were lost (and found) '99 and it was an incredible story!
I'm a chronic pain patient and a nurse so I understand the hows and the whys of these injuries, yet I cannot imagine the agony of having my extremeties slowly freeze until they become necrotic. Getting warmed up again must also have been a whole new level of excruciating, only to hear that they are ready and willing to return to the sport, though frostbite won't be as big a concern without fingers, toes and noses. How Antony survived without similar injuries is a bloody miracle.
When Steve started talking about tumbling down the mountain on two broken legs, that was when my tummy finally gave up and went all queer. Steve obviously has the most severe case of frostbite. I reckon that both Steve and Nigel must have some excellent prosthetics for their hands (and probably for their noses; I'm pretty sure that cosmetic surgery to recreate nose is still in its infancy), they said that they are going to climb again and I wonder if they ever did.
