Ohh my god our alfalfa was 4.5 bales an acre second cutting. It was un fucking real. Thank god tho we ran out of hay the previous year so good for hay but corn and beans were tight to get in
I love this stuff wish I could help out on a big farm I know after awhile its just a job long hours poor pay but whatever I would still enjoy it thanks for the videos
I'm in Baltic Ohio we have about 5 big farms within about 6 miles radius and more a little farther away but I'm not really looking for a job we have a family business but I always thought it would be fun
Do you have any rocks? How does a discbine handle them? Also do they throw them out into the tractor windows? Thanks for the info thinking about a discbine.
That 316 is impressive, Ted. Looking at how even it cuts across the field, it must be fairly well balanced to hide the "turtle" tracks as well as it apparently does. All told, how many acres of various forages are you cutting this year?
I don't know what fancy hay is worth but a neighbor sold all of his pivot corner grass hay for $295/ton. Last years reject heated Timothy is selling for $275/ton. I bought my in laws hay for $100/ton standing and now they think I robbed them. Looks good Ted
do you put your hydraulics in float mode or set your draft control light so it contours the ground? ive always wonder how you can cut that close to the ground with out scalping it. i tried cutting that close to the ground with my 10ft pull-type brushhog but it scalps the ground
@@tedkahler9738 so with a pull your brush hog do you put the hydraulic lever in the float detent? Or just lower it how you don't scalp the ground that's the problem I have had.
powerram92 adjust your bush Hogg according to opperators manual there should be some stops or something Way to many ways for me to low how to run hour equipment Read manual
I guess that's one of the positives of a wet year plenty of hay. I cant wait to see if your millet does as well this year. Thanks for sharing
millets gotta get in the ground before it grows very much LOL
Ohh my god our alfalfa was 4.5 bales an acre second cutting. It was un fucking real. Thank god tho we ran out of hay the previous year so good for hay but corn and beans were tight to get in
Looks like some really nice big windrows of hay. Should make for a lot of bales to put in the barn. Thanks for the ride along. Stay safe.
None of this will ever go into a barn... all outdoor storage here
That land is screaming out for a triple mower. I love cutting smaller fields with a single but massive areas soon get old. 😂
awww.... i can cut more than i can bale in a day .... so its plenty and the cost isnt bad either
Wow!!!! Those are impressive rows of hay!!! Well done Ted!!!👍👍
Thanks hope to get to bale them up tomorrow i still have way to much hay on the ground!!!
Dad always comments when I miss hay like you did. I always tell him the windrow was full and there wasn’t room for it
lol im glad im the boss so......
@@tedkahler9738😊
Thanks for the ride along. Stand looks good. Real good.
thanks hope to get some of it baled up SOON
Man I miss mowing hay. Was one of my favorite things to do in the summer
I sure enjoy hay... but everything gets old after a while
@@tedkahler9738 yes sir for me it is cutting Bean's
Good looking hay and beautiful country. Thanks for showing.
Thank you for the comment and watching
Looks nice and heavy windrows. Beautiful area. Have a good one
Thanks glad you stopped over
Nice video man. Grass looks great
thanks man
Looks like you are going to have a good year for hay.
Seems like in alot of places it will be pretty good
Boy that set up cruisers right along nice
Yep it sure does
Great looking crop you have done well
Thankyou glad you stopped by
Hay looks good, Mike from our Wyoming life would kill for grass like that!
i tryed to get him to buy some of this hay from this exact field last year... but the distance between us is a bit far
Hi ted i like the way you disk bine with 3 point and duals on thats the way i do it to
nice
That's a nice thick field.
Thanks
nice vid :) nice 2 see the old girl again..
they sure liked to be on cam again
Looks like a big hay crop!
seems to be pretty good
Ted Kahler 👍👍 that’s good!!!
Hey hats a nice rig we don’t cut our own hay well we do but we have a friend com out and do it
nice
Would love to have a hay field like that here.
Its a nice field but more than likely wont get that much every year
I love this stuff wish I could help out on a big farm I know after awhile its just a job long hours poor pay but whatever I would still enjoy it thanks for the videos
Lots of farms are hiring... or need help where are you im sure you could find a farm job somewhere
I'm in Baltic Ohio we have about 5 big farms within about 6 miles radius and more a little farther away but I'm not really looking for a job we have a family business but I always thought it would be fun
Daniel Troyer some would let you help when you had time but then some wouldn’t
yeah I think most of these have foreign people working for them
Thats a nice big land you got ther
Thanks
That's some really nice hay. Do you have rtk with your GPS or just waas?
That's a nice rig.
just use wass... but our wass signal is pretty good in this area
Hello from Ireland. What a huge field, how big is it.
pry 50 acres
With your auto steer do you keep the mower to one side?
I always have trouble with a quadratic equation any shortcuts or tips and tricks mark
i move the mower side to side.... i dont use any offsets just let the gps think its right behind me and it seems to work decent
thats what i do too for what ted kadhler said
Looks great i need to get my new to me garden tractor running. Horse power bigger is better.
ALWAYS need more ponies!!!
Do you have any rocks? How does a discbine handle them? Also do they throw them out into the tractor windows? Thanks for the info thinking about a discbine.
We have next to a soft ball field the softballs usually go flying out the front 😂😂 first time I had that happens it hit tractor huge thump
i have never broke any glass but i have heard of it happening.... so far seems to handle rocks decent
Not familiar with broome here on the east coast. Do you have to let the Brome go to seed in order to reseed itself?
no you do not. It will grow back without reseeding itself
Do the steel on steel rolls do better than rubber on rubber? Always wondered if they would be to aggressive for alfalfa
i love the steel on steel rollers... feel it does great on alfalfa as well
Thanks,good to know 👍
That 316 is impressive, Ted. Looking at how even it cuts across the field, it must be fairly well balanced to hide the "turtle" tracks as well as it apparently does. All told, how many acres of various forages are you cutting this year?
Dont wanna go to in depth but ill bale several thousand bales this year 5X6 bales that is
@@tedkahler9738 Fair enough. I don't need precise numbers, that's completely your business, not mine.
yea no problem ill share some things but not everything if you know what i mean
@@tedkahler9738 Perfectly reasonable.
Do you always cut six outside rounds with the 16 ft MoCo or is there time four works?
The speed and with the tonge length it’s pretty hard to turn in 4 rounds
How fast do you go when you are mowing?
in this field i was going 5-8 but normally cut at 10.5 mph basicly you can cut as fast as you can set in the seat
I like your videos I have a question about the mower is it 540pto or 1000?
Randall Ramsey 1000 we Have one just like it
1000 pto dont think this mower has an option for 540
@@tedkahler9738 thanks
Weeeeeeeeeeeee!
Yea we're picking battles too yet... just trying to get anything knocked down.
been one of them years
Farming 4G you are from North Dakota right?
That field is huge how many acres is it
i think its around 70 but is broken up with some tree stips
Man how long is that field! That stuff is thick!
it is 1/2 mile long could actually cut some mile long rows but try to keep sections separate
Nice looking windrows! Going to be able to take two together?
ALWAYS rake two together... even on 12 foot tall haygrazer
Raking 2 windrows together saves time/diesel fuel.👍
Would Triple set up make a real difference???
it would be about twice as fast... maybe even slightly more maneuverable... BUT for now this works great for me
I don't know what fancy hay is worth but a neighbor sold all of his pivot corner grass hay for $295/ton. Last years reject heated Timothy is selling for $275/ton. I bought my in laws hay for $100/ton standing and now they think I robbed them. Looks good Ted
ill pry sell this less than you payed and i had to do all the work too LOL
How big is this field?
200 something but there is some trees and a bit of farmland in there as well
Where are you guys live what size is your tractor and discbine
South Dakota 316 mower new holland tractor is a 7220 magnum

powerram92 e mower has built in float control. Also has no down pressure
@@tedkahler9738 do you know if it's the same for a brush hog
powerram92 bush hoggs don’t have float control

it is fucking dangerous machine.
yea wouldn't recommend sticking your arm in there
seeing much for pheasants?
Seen quite a few in certain areas other areas not so many
@@tedkahler9738 Ya, I've seen more this year than the last few. Seen the most around our alfalfa and grass mix field.
Why pto shaft so long
How else would the power get to the cutter?
That hay is so long
yes it is
Huge? Are you kidding?
much bigger than the ones you have on your channel....
