I think this album represents the end of an era for her, with "Lust 4 life" being a parallel for "Born 2 die". It's definitely a polarizing album but a grower as well for sure, Can't wait for your NFR reaction, that album literally changed my life
This album is definitely a grower. In the beginning, I only liked 2-3 songs from it. But after a few months I started paying more attention to it and now it's in my top 3 favorite albums of hers. With time you'll see the beauty of each song in this 😍😊. Also! - White Mustang can also be heard as "Why am I staying?". The next time you play that song, you'll hear it! - "White Mustang" and "In My Feelings" were written for G-Eazy. Lana had a short relationship with him but he was really shady with her. In short, he cheated on her and when she helped him write a song, he took it and released it with another female singer (that's why Lana says "In My Feelings": "While you're taking what is mine, well you know what you're doing").
Erm, the "why am I staying" thing is one of those things her fans came up with and hasn't been confirmed, by the way. I think that's important. It's good to be clear and let people know that Lana never said anything about "white mustang" sounding like... "why am I staying?"
@@Matthew-ij3zm No, she hasn't confirmed it. But that doesn't mean that she didn't do it. Lana plays with words and their sounding frequently. She also did it in "Ultraviolence", "Money Power Glory" and "Salvatore". It's a pretty recurring theme and I doubt it was unintentional on her part. 😊
@@nicoletalamprou That's fine, you're free to create/believe whatever interpretation or theory you want and everyone should respect that. But that's all it is. It's not a fact, it's not technically the truth and that's important to mention. When you guys share these theories, you always forget to say that they've never been validated by Lana herself. I prefer the people reading and the reactors to know that, while some of these theories might make sense, it's ok if they don't see it. I think this one about White Mustang is incredibly silly, I don't think it sounds like "why am I staying?" at all and it's important to let people know that as far as we know, Lana wasn't going for that and it's ok to disagree with the fan THEORY. TLDR; I just don't want people to confuse Lana's fans interpretations with something she's confirmed or validated in any way (I'm sure I'm gonna have a lot of fun here when y'all start with that nonsense about Blue Banisters and freaking bruises). 🥰
@@Matthew-ij3zm i lowkey agree 🙈 if i recall correctly, the "why am i staying" theory was suggested by a literal child who didn't know what a mustang was 😭 and their sibling who had a lana fan page on IG shared that lol
@@laincoubert7236 Right? I mean, I don't mean to be rude or anything, it shouldn't be a big deal. It just bothers me cause people always share these interpretations (and sometimes some conspiracy theories) in a way that people reading might think that Lana must have stated something about it. And it's not that uncommon for her to make simple choruses with a lot of repetition, it's funny that some people think there needs to be a special reason in White Mustang's case 💀
I felt the exact same way when I first listened to this album. And half of it I just stoped listening for a long time. But for some reason I started to listen the full album again and I feel different, I like it so much more and I understand it much more, it has a 70s vibe that I wasn’t familiar and used to before. It’s just a cute album, so so cute ♥️
I love how much you pay attention to the lyrics cause I got into Lana's music because of the instrumentals/production I finally understand the lyrics much better cause you analyze it

i think it’s important to remember what the climate was like when this album first came out. trump was newly elected as president, tensions between america and north korea were extremely high, american politics were everywhere, and lana was reflecting on her americana aesthetic heavily
yes groupie love is so sweet 🥺❤️ this album was made for her fans (she even called us "her kids" in the trailer of the album) so i feel like this song may be also about our relationship with her. "love" is also about us, we're the kids who are young and in love.

Did you know that 12 years ago, on September 26th The Weeknd discovered Lana Del Rey through tumblr, and was the first one to ask BBC Radio 1 to put 'Video Games' on their playlist. In fact in an interview Abel admits that when he met Lana, he felt that he had found the girl who was writing in her songs, that is, I found her muse for her songs. The Weeknd and Lana met in 2010, the year in which the Weeknd launched "Trilogy", and it is seen that they became very good friends, so much so that the voice of a woman who sounds in "Lonely Star" is inspired by Lana del Rey and it should be clarified that Lana helped a producer the album, "BBTM".On the surface, The Weeknd and Del Rey might seem like very different artists. After all, The Weeknd’s music hip hop and soul sound feels more in line with someone like Ariana Grande. Meanwhile, Del Rey’s career lives much more in line with rock-infused pop. However, the two artists are much more similar than the genres of their music might reveal. For instance, The Weeknd and Del Rey both often capture a dream-like quality in their songs. In addition, their lyrical content dips into dark territory, such as their preoccupation with drug references. So it makes sense they would work well together. And so they have. Beginning with The Weeknd’s 2015 single “Prisoner,” they’ve worked together on five songs.Although the Grammy Awards have yet to bestow a trophy to Del Rey, her work certainly makes a huge impact on The Weeknd. In fact, the “Blinding Lights” singer once revealed just how vital she is to his own music. In a 2015 interview with Pitchfork, The Weeknd explained the interconnected nature of Del Rey’s music and his own. “Me and Lana have been friends for a long time. I’ve inspired her. She’s inspired me. I feel like we’ve always been talking to each other through our music. She is the girl in my music, and I am the guy in her music. It’s just this ghostly collaboration that feels the most natural on the whole [Beauty Behind the Madness] album. Even the whole monologue intro on “Lonely Star” from [my 2011 mixtape] Thursday - I just realized now that that’s Lana. That’s Lana’s voice. I mean, it’s my voice pitched up, but it’s her. It’s who she is. She was definitely the first feature that I wanted to bring on this album.” The Weeknd and Del Rey are more than just collaborators, it seems. The pair’s music - according to The Weeknd - is spiritually linked. Perhaps this revelation puts into context not only the collaborations between these two but their respective catalogs as well. As great collaborations he has Prisoner, Party Monster where Lana makes Background vocals, Stargirl Interlude, Lust for Life and Money Power and Glory an unreleased remix by The weeknd for the album kissland but the original is from Lana's album Ultraviolence.Anyway, long life to this wonderful collaboration. Abelana Forever 🥰🥰. September 26 Abelana Anniversary. 12 years ago The Weeknd discovered Lana on Tumblr and they became friends ❤❤❤
Actually album is really divided into two parts; lust and life. Lust being the songs till Coachella Woodstock in my mind. They tell the story of her lust since honeymoon, also love was a thank you gift for her fans and White Mustang is about G-Eazy and the story is basically about G-Eazy being with Lana and Halsey at the same time; also white mustang actually means Why am I staying? cause of the way she says it. And for the second part; like I said itself about life and politics in 2016-2017 also the fear of war and things never changing. Hope you see this comment, I love your videos and I am so excited for the NFR reaction.
Lust For Life has been such an on and off album, there was a period I didn’t like it. then there was a period I was like this actually so good, and recently been indifferent. But lately with the 7th anniversary passing I fell right back in love and can’t believe I was so back forth with it cause it’s just amazing
this album is definitely a grower. an interesting thing about this album many people have noticed is that the first half represents lust and the second represents life. thats probably why you feel a sudden shift at the halfway point
I love to refer to this album as a "transitional" album. It was two sides of lana that she tried to work with and didn't quite hit the mark but she showed us where she wanted to go next with "Change" cause she said that song was the direction she wanted to go towards in the next album. I wish she could revisit making an album full of hip hop beats like this but she shines strongest in songwriting nowadays, and the following albums show that.
13 Beaches, Cherry, Groupie Love, Coachella, Woodstock in my Mind, When The World Was At War, We Kept Dancing, Beautiful People Beautiful Problems, Heroin, Change and Get Free are the songs I play when I listen to this album, loved them all first listen, and still do to this day, underrated album imo.
LFL is her most underrated album. It amuses me how ppl concider NFR as her best when this album has Heroin, Coachella, Get free, Beautiful ppl beautiful problems, Cherry, When the world was at war bfore, In my feelings and White mustang. The whole production, styling, meaning, aesthetics are just stunning. For me, it is in the triolgy of the her best lyrics (with Blue banisters and Ocean blvd..without mentioning Sirens) and a new and fresh approach of her to brighter scenarios, political positions, optimism and beautiful poetry without leaving her dark side. Her deepest and complex album...with Ocean Blvd now
This album confused me a lil at first cuz there was so many different topics she sang (not a bad thing just so different) also having so many features (she never had before) It’s such a different album. But still soo many good ones on here forsure! ❤ My favs - Cherry, Groupie Love, Coachella, Tomorrow Never Came, Heroin, Get Free
Yeah, the album does have 2 distinct parts to it. The first half from Love to Groupie Love which is more popish and oriented towards love problems. And Coachella marks the transition into the second half, which is more folky and more political and personal.
I always thought of Born to Die, Ultraviolence, and Honeymoon as a trilogy. Lust for Life is the end of an era in a way, or a transitional album. In the first half it feels very reminiscent of her older style, where she’s still heavily playing into her Lana Del Rey persona - singing about failed love, and drugs, and life in the fast lane. The second half is more about the woman underneath Lana Del Rey - who was there before and after her - and the woman that sort of “takes control” of her discography from here on out. Evinced by her own personal thoughts and vindications on society in the latter half, which introduces the real person that we start to see in all of the next albums. Not that Lana Del Rey wasn’t her, but more or less that Lana Del Rey was a caricature of herself, and in Lust for Life she’s broken this wall. She dedicates Love to her fans, and addresses the real world numerous times, destroying the facade that it’s all a song. Especially in Coachella, where it feels like the line about children is Lana recognizing all of the teenagers, and young people who have leaned into the ideals portrayed in her music, and how she understands that she’s not a role model, and doesn’t wanna be. It reminds me of how The Weeknd plays a character loosely based off of himself and his own experiences, especially earlier on in his discography. After Lust for Life, she’s not the over glamorized, personification of herself anymore. She’s Elizabeth Grant, which super ties into Get Free a little bit. It’s a send off of sorts. (Although I think that Get Free has multiple meanings, this has always felt like one to me.)
this is such a great explanation of how I’ve always viewed this album! In combination with the first half being lust and the second half being life, I’ve always viewed this album as an actual “Swan Song” for the Lana Del Rey persona. we obviously still get little glimpses of the Lana we all came to love from the BTD era but she feels so much more authentic and unapologetic in her albums to follow this one. I love all the fourth wall breaks in the album too, reminding her listeners that she’s still a human being underneath all of “the fame the fortune and the legend”
@@heavenbratt Thank you! I never actually thought about the first half being lust, and the latter half being life that way before! I guess I should have since I recognized the separation in the album, but you summarize, and put it all into words so well!!
I love all Lana’s albums, and I am excited to watch you progress through them! I think my favorites are Blue Banisters and Ocean Boulevard so we’ve got a bit longer until you react to those but I’m so excited!
I totally get ya with the "listening to music as an escape", because it's so easy for songs to take me to certain places with how they paint pictures, and when it gets too real, like it's a lot harder to want to listen to those songs more often. I could appreciate them still, and some I would still consider as favorites though I hardly listen to them. Anywho, always love your music reactions (esp Lana, cuz I found ya through that!) and I look forward to the next :DDD Much love!!
I just want to thank you for everything you doing, cause i never seen channel like yours on Lana and her lyrics in songs❤ my first song i ever heard from Elizabeth was high by the beach, never know what she singing in 2015 in radio but her voice was haunted me.. in that year she started to be my favorite singer and i lisened all her albums, available at that time. Everytime i travel somewhere in car on sunset should be her song. So happy to see Lana on your channel, but anyway do what YOU like to do ❤ any reaction is the best if it has feeling. Although a lot of people dont like this album, it has a apecial place in my heart I just remember the rollout and loving every second of it. It was also the tour I saw her front row in an arena for. Anyways, NFR is definitley her best and one of my favorite albums of all time. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on that masterpiece.
yesss she was watching her friend's husband performing in coachella, and that would be Father John Misty!! he's also great friends with her, he's the man on Freak music video and they have 2 collabs songs later on. Coachella is so well written it amazes me. songwriter of the century.
The hyphen between Coachella and Woodstock was like a wormhole, which brought us from 2017 back to 1969, you can tell by the track list before and after this song. It's like an interlude that links the album. The first half of the album was really pop and hip-pop influenced, like the trap beat and the feature of the Weeknd and ASAP Rocky, while the second half was more country vibe, like the guitar and piano in production, and Leonon and Stevie Nicks feature.
I liked Lust for Life very much at the time of the release because it brought back to me the sound from Born to Die, which I liked so much. At the time I was disappointed with NFR and COTCC because I was missing that old sound. I had to make a conscious decision, saying like "okay, Lana's not gonna do that anymore, let's hear what she has to say now" and since that moment, I've really appreciated her "new sound". Which, by the way, seems to impress music critics as well, as her last four albums all have 80+ metacritic score, which is impressive. I wonder what your impressions will be on NFR.
This might be a mixed feelings for first listen, there are songs that are hits for first listen. But this is a grower album, i mean we got Love, Cherry, Groupie Love and Get Free. This album is also has the best Intro and Outro tracks.
This album is a love letter to her audience. Cherry is truly one of the MOST iconic tracks of hers. You should see the little choreo she has for it live.
I cant wait for NFR. Get free is such a perfect lead into that album because in the albums before lust for life she kind of plays this character who is deluded by her relationships with men. Lust for life to me feels like the first album where she is trying to show insight on her own life, however it kind of gets lost in what it truly wants to be. However in NFR it is so much more refined and has a very pointed cohesion that almost odes a farewell to the persona of a woman who gets lost in her relationships. Every album after NFR is different in the fact that she starts to shift from the love of her relationships to the love of her family. It is like you the evolution through her music to someone is realizing that true love to her comes from family and it is very beautiful.
This my stan album. She announced the cover art on my 20th birthday (the best day ever). As someone who has been her fan since the beginning, this album kind of sums up everything. This is her best album for me, all the production, THE AESTHETIC (pls check out all MVs) and melodies are perfect!

The song "heroin" is about Lana's ex-boyfriend who died because of heroin.
i’m pretty sure it wasn’t an ex but one of her closets friends
@@Sebastian-wj7bcNo it’s the guy she wrote Yayo about. Rob Debuss who did actually date Lana.
@@Starryeyedobsolete really? I never kbew ab this
@@Sebastian-wj7bcit was in fact a bf, the same she wrote yayo about
I felt the exact same way when I first listened to this album. And half of it I just stoped listening for a long time. But for some reason I started to listen the full album again and I feel different, I like it so much more and I understand it much more, it has a 70s vibe that I wasn’t familiar and used to before. It’s just a cute album, so so cute ♥️
I love how much you pay attention to the lyrics cause I got into Lana's music because of the instrumentals/production I finally understand the lyrics much better cause you analyze it
I really can’t wait for NFR😭 please post it asap
I was just watching your honeymoon reaction! Omg
Summer Bummer not being dead last FOR ONCE? I have to Stan
I've always loved Summer Bummer, it has impeccable vibes and I'm not afraid to say it 🗣
Million Dollar man is my favorite Lana song too! so cool to see someone love that song as well. been binge watching your lana videos, its super cool to see your reactions to them. and I love to see that you love Tomorrow never came because I see a lot of people not really liking that song. I am sad to see you dont like Heroin or God Bless America but thats the fun of watching these is seeing peoples reactions. Please keep doing these Lana reaction vids!
this album such a masterpiece❤🎉
13 beaches & Cherry are the 2 elite from this album 🙌❤️🔥
Im soo excited for the NFR reaction, one of my favorites
i think it’s important to remember what the climate was like when this album first came out. trump was newly elected as president, tensions between america and north korea were extremely high, american politics were everywhere, and lana was reflecting on her americana aesthetic heavily
The fact that she released NFR after makes this album even deeper IMO
Cant wait to the NFR reaction !! your ears will be blessed
yes groupie love is so sweet 🥺❤️ this album was made for her fans (she even called us "her kids" in the trailer of the album) so i feel like this song may be also about our relationship with her. "love" is also about us, we're the kids who are young and in love.
literally diving into lana’s discography with you. I wait for every single video to dive into it cuz your thoughts about her songs are so accurate, simply love it
Did you know that 12 years ago, on September 26th The Weeknd discovered Lana Del Rey through tumblr, and was the first one to ask BBC Radio 1 to put 'Video Games' on their playlist.
She was definitely the first feature that I wanted to bring on this album.”
The Weeknd and Del Rey are more than just collaborators, it seems. 12 years ago The Weeknd discovered Lana on Tumblr and they became friends ❤❤❤
pls i need the nfr reaction ASAPPPPPPP i cant wait for it and everything that comes after it
NFR changed Lanas sound completely
claiming cherry as ur track is so iconic its one of my favorite songs she's ever made "why? cause I love you sooo muchhh"
I like how honest you are when you dont like a song (but is also open to it) I think this makes it more exciting when you actually like a song :3
Omgg A Summer Bummer Loverr 😭😭 SUMMER BUMMER LOVERS ARE SO RARE WHEN IT COMES TO THIS ALBUM...
That's me! Have you heard the version where it's just her?
Omg I was really looking forward to this reaction!!
13 Beaches, Cherry, Groupie Love, Coachella, Woodstock in my Mind, When The World Was At War, We Kept Dancing, Beautiful People Beautiful Problems, Heroin, Change and Get Free are the songs I play when I listen to this album, loved them all first listen, and still do to this day, underrated album imo.
get free is the perfect transition to NFR
Hello, I'm eagerly waiting for your new video about NFR! I don't even speak English haha but I'm here because of you
First of all I love love love the new background setting, it’s cuuuuuute. ❤
Her deepest and complex album...with Ocean Blvd now
This album confused me a lil at first cuz there was so many different topics she sang (not a bad thing just so different) also having so many features (she never had before)
It’s such a different album. But still soo many good ones on here forsure! ❤
My favs - Cherry, Groupie Love, Coachella, Tomorrow Never Came, Heroin, Get Free
Yeah, the album does have 2 distinct parts to it. The first half from Love to Groupie Love which is more popish and oriented towards love problems. And Coachella marks the transition into the second half, which is more folky and more political and personal.
Cherry was a great song to claim. It's my third favorite on the album. My favorite being Heroin followed by White Mustang.
Top tier taste 🔥 Heroin is my all time next to Blackest Day
I always thought of Born to Die, Ultraviolence, and Honeymoon as a trilogy.
NFR is really different 🤍
I want to see your reaction to Lana's
latest album soon
In white mustang I think she’s actually saying “why am I staying”
Lust for Life is perfect from the beginning of the song to the end…..
Anywho, always love your music reactions (esp Lana, cuz I found ya through that!) and I look forward to the next :DDD Much love!!
last song on lust for life ends on the sound of ocean waves/beach it kind of flows into the vibe of nfr
And your reaction is the best)
Although a lot of people dont like this album, it has a apecial place in my heart I just remember the rollout and loving every second of it. It was also the tour I saw her front row in an arena for. Anyways, NFR is definitley her best and one of my favorite albums of all time. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on that masterpiece.
making us wait over a month for NFR is criminal 😭😭
I keep checking to see if she uploaded, but nothing 😭😭. And NFR is the album I was looking forward to the most.
Welp, she always does this with lana reactions 😭
yesss she was watching her friend's husband performing in coachella, and that would be Father John Misty!! he's also great friends with her, he's the man on Freak music video and they have 2 collabs songs later on. Coachella is so well written it amazes me. songwriter of the century.
Tomorrow never came is such an underrated masterpiece I’m glad to see your appreciation of it 😭😭
The hyphen between Coachella and Woodstock was like a wormhole, which brought us from 2017 back to 1969, you can tell by the track list before and after this song. It's like an interlude that links the album. The first half of the album was really pop and hip-pop influenced, like the trap beat and the feature of the Weeknd and ASAP Rocky, while the second half was more country vibe, like the guitar and piano in production, and Leonon and Stevie Nicks feature.
Thank you for being true and honest through this experience.
NEXT IS NFR YALL OMG OMG OMG, THE BEST ALBUM EVER AH
I liked Lust for Life very much at the time of the release because it brought back to me the sound from Born to Die, which I liked so much. At the time I was disappointed with NFR and COTCC because I was missing that old sound. I had to make a conscious decision, saying like "okay, Lana's not gonna do that anymore, let's hear what she has to say now" and since that moment, I've really appreciated her "new sound". Which, by the way, seems to impress music critics as well, as her last four albums all have 80+ metacritic score, which is impressive.
I wonder what your impressions will be on NFR.
When she claimed cherry 💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻
SLAY
Cass is our babe 🍒
This might be a mixed feelings for first listen, there are songs that are hits for first listen. But this is a grower album, i mean we got Love, Cherry, Groupie Love and Get Free. This album is also has the best Intro and Outro tracks.
Norman it’s coming!! fav album
This album is a love letter to her audience. Cherry is truly one of the MOST iconic tracks of hers. You should see the little choreo she has for it live.
I have been waiting months for this!!! ❤
This is her best album for me, all the production, THE AESTHETIC (pls check out all MVs) and melodies are perfect!
lust for life is definitely my favourite album cover art, i love seeing her smile, anyway i love this album and i feel like get free is about getting free from the industry like it talks about the rainbows and how you get lured in but theres no real security there. really great cant wait for you to hear 'dealer' too for angry lana
OMG I just found your channel today, saw the video about Ultraviolence and Honeymoon and now you release the video for Lust For Life? I love your reaction's
I really love how you analyse the songs and the album in general. Thank you so much for this series I really enjoy your videos ♥
OMGG yess finally, i have been waiting a long time for thiss!!
"Oh this song is gonna be my personality for the next month." LOL!!! Welcome to the cult! Also, literally me, AFTER EVERY LANA SONG!
My top 3 from this album are Get Free, Cherry, and Heroin.
NFR is in my top 3 along with Ocean Blvd and Ultraviolence.
I cannot wait for your reaction to NFR and Ocean Blvd!!
In white mustang, instead of “your white mustang” she says why am I staying
Seeing her preform Cherry in real life is a spiritual experience
My second fav from Lana 😍😍
Oh no you have to give those songs in red a chance. Change is one of her best. It grows on you. And heroin. Very deep song
loved your reaction sm!! & so excited for the NFR one as well. and girl if you want angry lana just wait till u get to ‘dealer’ on blue banisters. can’t waitt❤
this very album sets a period to her previous album chain and starts a new more thoughtful and peaceful one coming right into it with sounds of the ocean and a peaceful beach at the end of "get free". as she said, shes moving "out of the black into the blue" (which is her favorite color)
