TBH I can't see a purpose for analog triggers unless you're mostly playing streamed games from SteamLink, xCloud or something similar. Other than that, the only games that theoretically could be emulated that would make arguably good use of analog triggers are on the Gamecube. Everything else always had digital buttons for racing games. And even for the Gamecube is hit or miss as it was the only console of that gen that had analog triggers and they were not exactly analog, they just had two stages, half pressed and completely pressed. how is the a button messed up? is it sunken in? my GPD XD+ had a sunken in A button, like it fell in and you would have to just tap it like a touch screen for it to actuate.
ok, its been a year since I've asked this... is there a handheld that can run the arcade version of Killer Instinct 1 & 2 at full speed without frame skip yet? and I don't mean a phone.
That's unfortunate, too many specific flaws. The screen tap issue will make games like COD Mobile have issues, because there isn't enough buttons for it. It's cool it can play up to gamecube. However I just bit the bullet, paid a little extra for a refurbished phone and got attachable controllers. Solved almost every issue I had with the GPD XD Plus. The only other issue was finding a good controller with mapping. I settled on the gamesir x2 type C. Which has issues but is more than playable.

@@TakiUdon So would you say the x18 stronger than the i7 and i7s or do you need to do more testing?
i7 and i7s can play psp games but can do play ps2?
how is the a button messed up? is it sunken in? my GPD XD+ had a sunken in A button, like it fell in and you would have to just tap it like a touch screen for it to actuate.
The texture is ruined
ok, its been a year since I've asked this... is there a handheld that can run the arcade version of Killer Instinct 1 & 2 at full speed without frame skip yet? and I don't mean a phone.
At below $200? The answer is No.
Do you can share the apk to mapp buttons?
Seems better than octopus and others, looks like the old archos gamepad.
Thanks
Beautiful ❤️👌
That's unfortunate, too many specific flaws. The screen tap issue will make games like COD Mobile have issues, because there isn't enough buttons for it. It's cool it can play up to gamecube. However I just bit the bullet, paid a little extra for a refurbished phone and got attachable controllers. Solved almost every issue I had with the GPD XD Plus. The only other issue was finding a good controller with mapping. I settled on the gamesir x2 type C. Which has issues but is more than playable.
Hi Taki. Thank you for all your great videos. My ‘A’ button is working so I hope yours gets fixed and that this isn’t a sign these buttons will break down quickly.
You have no strange texture on your A button? That should confirm they were telling me the truth.
@@TakiUdon Sorry I misunderstood the video. Yes my units has different texture on the ‘A’ button which isn’t found on the other buttons.
@@TakiUdon My ABXY buttons all feel the same. Do you mean your A button feels different because different materials were used or maybe it wasn't placed correctly?
*Wow does dreamcast games are running very smooth....how does N64 & PSP games run on it*
Isn't that amazon link to the old X18? Can't see the X18s on there. Awesome vid 😊.
That is their main store page, so I put it there. They need to stock it with devices from their second production batch.
Seems like a giant missed opportunity not to put a second smaller screen below for DS emulation, they were so close...
Regardless of price / performance / features, the BRAND NAME name is a deal killer. I can't give any product from that company to my kids, with the name "kiddy" in it, and I'd feel like an idiot getting it for myself.
Lol^^,
So when can we expect this OTA update?
Not on the GMS firmware
Is this console stronger than the GPD XD+?
Nice video. Your mic sounds pretty muffled though.
Never thought I’d feel the need to complain on someone’s table being too white 😂
Taki. I've got the base firmware. Won't allow me to install Google play. Can't update OTA. Says I've the latest version, which I hadn't, clearly.
The official Powkiddy instructions for installing don't work for me.
Could you post a vid showing how to update to a working FW, cos the one I've got is pretty awful.
Thanks for all you do!
The image that I was given (it should be the same as the one on their website) only needed to be placed on the internal storage. After that, you just need to go to the OTA settings option and you should see local upgrade. It will find the update on your device and start the flashing process.
@@TakiUdon Cool, thanks. I'll check!
I have a problem with x18s, after installing lineage os I decided to update magisk (for some reason ???) and got a bootloop. In search of a solution, I installed some not very suitable firmware, but the device did not start to boot up normaly. Today I found a firmware (.pac) specifically for x18s and installed it, but it didn't help either. The console is now a brick, it vibrates once when the power button is pressed for a long time and that's it, it doesn't react anymore, the led does not light up and the screen is black. Please tell what can I do about it
fixed by installing stock firmware via BeTools
I love clamshell designs. Too bad it isn't $100. If this thing could run Dreamcast well I'd be interested anyway.
RP2+ is your only real option if $100 is a hard limit.
When I download I app then installed it the icon don't show up . How this I add apps icon ?
This is why I just use the standard launcher. Go to settings and type home. Change it to the second option and don't look back.
Your amazon link is the x18, not the x18s.
Is there a handheld device out there that will play Sega Saturn well? Nice video :)
This device should not have an issue with most Sega Saturn games from the videos that I have tested.
The issue with Saturn is that none of the devices that can play it have 6 face buttons and triggers. For stuff like radiant Silvergun you will want all the face buttons.
@@TakiUdon nice. Looking forward to a full review.

Which is why I bought the Pi Boy DMG.
Unfortunately, I still can't get Saturn to run full speed.
@@TheObserver85 that's unfortunate. Maybe at some point they'll get an optimized version of SSF running on the rpi4. It ran ok for me on the odroid xu4 which is pretty similar. Lots of little graphics and sound glitches tho. It runs amazing on my Android phone using Yaba Sanshiro and a retro bit Bluetooth Saturn controller.
That's solid
Does it come with games?
Can you try xenosaga for the ps2 emulator?
What's that black thing shaking?
i'[m happy with my GPD still even though it doesnt play NGC
It can play some, it's just a lot more work.
