Zachary Mazur yes so true this is a summary of like the whole "proving triangles congruent" and "proving lines parallel" units in geometry
Yup, and that is because Michael is a good teacher. He also doesn't have to compensate for slow learners, because one could just re-watch the video, yet a school teacher would have to go slower and repeat themselves to make sure all the students understand. If the teacher could go at their own pace without interruption, it would of course be quicker.

At 4:23, Michael says, "Now Thales's Theorem tells us that the two other points,
where these rays contact the circumference, are diametrically opposed. They are on opposite sides of the circle and a line passing through them will pass through the centre."
Isn't this the converse of Thales's Theorem? Yes, the converse is true as well, but what was stated in the video isn't Thales's theorem; it's the converse.
Yea this is what I'm thinking as well, and the proof at the end does not prove the converse. I think the proof of the converse follows from the inscribed angle theorem, and I found this proof of that: ua-cam.com/video/MyzGVbCHh5M/v-deo.html

That was wonderful, but at the end you proved this:
Given that you have a triangle with vertices on a circle, if one edge is a diameter of the circle, then the opposing angle is a right angle.
You wanted to show the converse:
Given that you have a triangle with vertices on a circle, if one of its angles is a right angle, then its opposing side is a diameter of the circle.
Granted, the steps to prove this direction were also explained very nicely in the course of the video, so it's not the biggest crime of the century.
That’s what I was thinking!
Is that not the same exact thing? Or is it not true that if you have a right angle, then the opposite side is always the Diameter of the circle, given the vertices are on the circle

@Ben Höflinger You need a perspective, a right-angled perspective.
@Ben Höflinger Well, aren't we all more than one-sided? It seems irrational and it goes round and round before we ever feel bliss and we will probably never meet true happiness. I suppose that is a-parallel and it is nice seeing someone with a similar and congruent "vector-of-view". I wish you the best of luck for your endeavours and remember plot the points on your graphs clearly and ensure you check your formulas and inputs before submitting.

Best intro to any video on youtube

is this sarcasm? because I assume the vast majority of dislikes are due to the intro
Tweogan That intro is absolute gold! The hell are you saying?
By definition, inscribed angles, angles that lay on the diameter of a circle, equal 1/2 of its corresponding arc length. And, a central angle, an angle that lays on the center of a circle, equals its corresponding arc length. A diameter is basically a straight line central angle. So, a straight line, which by definition equals 180 degrees will always have a corresponding arc length equal to 180 degrees. As I said before an inscribed angle is 1/2 of its corresponding arc length. So, an inscribed angle with a measure of 90 degrees will have a arc length of 180. Connect these points and you have a straight line central angle or, simply put, a diameter. Two diameters intersect at the center of the circle, so this is another way to explain Thale's Thereom.
I remember learning this in 3rd year highschool geometry and it stuck to me. Really useful stuff; but the Thale's Theorem was new to me. Thanks Michael.

It would eliminate the need to draw two right triangles and would have the use of just the one triangle. If you need to double check, you can always draw a perpendicular bisector on the hypotenuse OR draw another triangle and verify the center of the hypotenuse matches up with the other center.
