@@stinksorstonks1498 Eh, abstract art can be cool. Sometimes it's about interesting shapes, nice looking colors, extreme distortions of reality... It often takes the same skills as naturalistic art. The crossing of the temperature reminds me of the fly hitting the windshield concept. If you map a fly’s speed on a graph with forward motion represented by a positive number and the speed in the opposite direction as a negative number, the line crosses 0 at some point. Meaning at some point the fly came to a complete stop when it hit the windshield before moving in the opposite direction. But for the fly to be able to come to a complete stop, that would suggest the windshield was at a complete stop at the same time.
@sladewilson9741 the key is that if one place is 20° and another place is 30°, there must be an unbroken gradient in between that goes from 20-21-23-24-all the way to 30, and including every number in between those ofc. And that would still be true if the 20° place and the 30° place are right next to each other, it would just be more compressed. So, if you picked a point on earth's surface that was 20° and another on the exact opposite that was 30°, and you swapped those two points by sliding them at the same rate along an unbroken path so that they're always exactly opposite each other, then at some point the temperatures would intersect (one is going down and the other is going up) and be the exact same temperature. It doesn't matter what that in-between temperature is, the idea is just that we know it exists.
I found two antipodes that are both on roads. Point one: N 22° 18' 22.6372",E 114° 10' 36.5714" (West Kowloon Corridor, King's Park, Hongkong) point two: S 22° 18' 22.6372",W 65° 49' 23.4286" (RP69, Jujuy, Argentina)

I find it funny how after all of the "four" stuff he does in the end, he blinks 4 times before the video ends. Not sure if that was intentional or not, but still pretty funny.
Its probably the center of expansion. If expansion occurs in all directions, then there would be no effect on the center because it's being acted on equally in each direction.
Well, think about it this way. Take a balloon, draw a bunch of dots on the surface, and now blow it up. Clearly, every point has moved from it's original place. I believe the law he is talking about only works when you conserve dimensions. So if you had a 2-D picture and you expanded or shrank it in only those 2 dimensions, this law would hold. But the balloon is a 2-D surface expanding in 3 dimensions, and when you do that you can get every point to move. Our universe is 3-D but is expanding through higher dimensional space, so no this won't apply to the universe as a whole.
+David Stagg but if you want to use that example, shouldn't you label every point INSIDE the balloon, as would be in the universe? This would mean that there is a fixed point in the universe, even though, it's probably a vast empty point in space.
He actually has quite an interesting humor side. He seems to like the type of strange offensive and self embarrassing comedy and I bet is somewhat friends with them. Especially after he met the real them.
11:00 I was very curious about this statement, but I was having issues using the sites suggested. Anyway, I found it: Turns out that if you dig a hole in the sea between Peru and Chile, you end up in the China sea, both in the Pacific. Neat.
You can actually move every molecule in a mug to a new location. Stirring a fluid is not a continuous transformation, because the spoon can "cut" and "glue" points from one position to the other.
That's only if you use the spoon to remove liquid from the cup, which is arguably not part of "stirring." However, the spoon could touch the bottom of the cup and create a "hole" in the liquid, so you could move every point that way.
This one was definitely not as good as others. I am a fan of the super profound era of Vsauce, when videos like "Cruel Bombs" and "Mistakes" were always happening.
Michael Stevens is the only man in the universe capable of making a smooth transition from talking about a guy who drew a pepe on the moon to saying the number four in every sentence
The 9 works for single digits if you include them as a decimal like 1.0 and move decimal when you add. So 1.0 would minus .1 to create .9. Which I find interesting when thinking about the E8 lattice and how its a fractal of triangles. The square root of 9 is 3, a triangle. Quarks breaks down in 3's, add up in 3s to make protons and neutrons. The Electron creates a fixed point forming a triangle from nucleus, etc. At the center of the E8 lattice is a hexagon (Most energy conserving shape) made up of 6 even triangles.
Not a lot at all. It's not like they have to figure this stuff out and prove all the theories and such, it's already known. They just have to present it in a way that isn't ripping anyone off. The "research" is the easy part.
hardly truckloads when up to like 20% of his fun facts are already stated in previous videos. don't get me wrong, i love Vsauce. just a bit sad when you have to wait months for a not even fully original video
On top of that if you wanted to make sure that you didn't stir any back to the part that you started with you could remove some coffee from the cup by oh I don't know taking a sip or pouring a bit out.
The same thing with four happens in Turkish as well. Four in Turkish is dört and no other number's Turkish name has the same number of letters as it's value.

First of, there is no center, secondly as far as we can say it is not bounded so the theorem does not apply.
+David Stagg but if you want to use that example, shouldn't you label every point INSIDE the balloon, as would be in the universe? This would mean that there is a fixed point in the universe, even though, it's probably a vast empty point in space.
I never really appreciated how good of an explanation Michael gives at around 6:00
"Hey, that's pretty good"
Did IDubbz rub off on you
I caught that too. I had to pause and replay it over a few times. That has to be on purpose.
He actually has quite an interesting humor side. He seems to like the type of strange offensive and self embarrassing comedy and I bet is somewhat friends with them. Especially after he met the real them.
ya I caught that too, I bet you idubbz and max told him to say that when they last met up
he even said it in the same tone. it's definitely intentional
It is on purpose, they did a video together a few weeks ago
11:00 I was very curious about this statement, but I was having issues using the sites suggested.
Anyway, I found it:
Turns out that if you dig a hole in the sea between Peru and Chile, you end up in the China sea, both in the Pacific.

Fantastic as always Michael! I hope that runaway scooter didn't break anything...

Sounds like it just fell down some stairs.

Number 9 is so attractive I'll have two of them including a large one

ill have two number nines but rotate the first one 180 degrees
I'll have a number 6 with extra dip
You can actually move every molecule in a mug to a new location. Stirring a fluid is not a continuous transformation, because the spoon can "cut" and "glue" points from one position to the other.
THANK YOU
That's what I thought!!!!
Finally someone said it
True answer is in the comments, as always
That's only if you use the spoon to remove liquid from the cup, which is arguably not part of "stirring." However, the spoon could touch the bottom of the cup and create a "hole" in the liquid, so you could move every point that way.
I cannot believe the first drawn image the human civilization has ever left on another world is that.
there was no coffee in that mug... i feel deceived
*spoons a bit of coffee out of mug, shakes mug, returns coffee* Me: 1 Math: 0
Patrick McNalley I didn't say I used a spoon to do my spooning :D
yeah, thanks mate, but i think ill pass
Don't worry, I am sure the coffee will be back in the next video. =)
Clare Bear THE COFFEE IS ALSO A LIE
I reached the ending of the video and I didn't want it to end so badly. I need more vsauce in my life
This one was definitely not as good as others. I am a fan of the super profound era of Vsauce, when videos like "Cruel Bombs" and "Mistakes" were always happening.
Michael:

in denmark 2 is "to" 3 is "tre" and 4 is "fire" so we got alot of cosmic numbers
Michael Stevens is the only man in the universe capable of making a smooth transition from talking about a guy who drew a pepe on the moon to saying the number four in every sentence
12:15 "Hey, that's pretty good" you know your memes Micheal xd
Remedy.
I love when these completely unrelated channels do stuff like this.
The last Filthy Frank cake was made with Micheal if you didn't know. Its all more connected that it appears
Hey, do you wanna know some spit facts?
Why yes I do!
How much money did they pay Michael, again?
The "oh fourk" joke was at 14:44, which is spooky
What's the significance in "four-k" being at 14:44?
read your comment out loud, slowly.
he blinked four times too...
oh fuck
fourmidable!
Every time I watch this I am more convinced that Michael made this whole video just to tell people to only press the elevator call button once.
The fact that he blinked 4 times at the end as well was brilliant.
Did he seriously say "hey, that's pretty good"?!?
no iDubbz did.
12:16
He's friends with so I think it was a nod to iDubbbz.
Sean Bruz did you see the video with Michael on idubbz channel

The 9 works for single digits if you include them as a decimal like 1.0 and move decimal when you add. So 1.0 would minus .1 to create .9. Which I find interesting when thinking about the E8 lattice and how its a fractal of triangles. The square root of 9 is 3, a triangle. Quarks breaks down in 3's, add up in 3s to make protons and neutrons. The Electron creates a fixed point forming a triangle from nucleus, etc. At the center of the E8 lattice is a hexagon (Most energy conserving shape) made up of 6 even triangles.
12:15 He went and did an iDubbbz

Can you guys be glad he uploaded? You don't understand how much research goes into each video.
Tell em
Not a lot at all. It's not like they have to figure this stuff out and prove all the theories and such, it's already known. They just have to present it in a way that isn't ripping anyone off. The "research" is the easy part.
4
Yeah well if you wanted constant uploads of interesting facts wouldn't you go to a top 10 channel? We come to vsauce FOR VSauce
yup. editing takes a while I imagine, plus Michael does a LOT more than UA-cam
14:05 In spanish it would be 5 (cinco), and it works too, obviously spelling every number in spanish
También puede quedar en un ciclo de cuatro y seis
Fun fact: Vsauce got 10 million subs, yet he uploads every two months
quality not quantity
charley torres he most likely does truckloads of research each day for these videos which might be why the uploads are pretty slow
ExEDE that's the world's most irrelevant question if I've ever seen one
given the nature of the videos the work and time put in means we continue to get good content and info from the videos
hardly truckloads when up to like 20% of his fun facts are already stated in previous videos. don't get me wrong, i love Vsauce. just a bit sad when you have to wait months for a not even fully original video

Michael, we very much cut and glue when we stir, additionally, we have a third dimension, and liquids are compressible and ununiform.
On top of that if you wanted to make sure that you didn't stir any back to the part that you started with you could remove some coffee from the cup by oh I don't know taking a sip or pouring a bit out.
stop cutting your coffee! and don't put glue in it either, it tastes way better in a steak sauce, you ape
You know you are fucked when the video starts with the Saucemusic

The same thing with four happens in Turkish as well. Four in Turkish is dört and no other number's Turkish name has the same number of letters as it's value.
