- This will be the shortest Recycled Review wait ever. I made the most of amassing 30 bottles, so attempted two back-to-back. Let's see how it goes!
Since you all waited so long for RR16, I tried to be efficient this summer and record two back-to-back. Now back from my summer slumber, I've knocked this scrappy effort together as best I can in order to bring some additional content during the channel's quiet summer weeks. It might not be technically polished, but these reviews rarely are and I hope, as usual, you can roll with the messy symptoms of recording outside and being bereft of videography skills.
Remember, it's always only one man's opinion.

Kilchoman Machir Bay is not only Bourbon matured, it contains a minor share of Sherry matured casks, see front of the box.

I bought a bottle of High Coast Älv after this video, my mind went directly to Glencadam. Very happy with the purchase :)

Cheeky, Roy, throwing in that final half dozen bottles when for all intents and purposes the video was done and dusted! Great additional value to get those final quick hitters. Like you, I'm hoping to see the return of Arran 14 soon, but somewhere recently I read that it might not reappear until 2025! I'll have no problem with that, as long as Arran maintains it as a first-fill and refill ex-bourbon expression. I certainly wouldn't want to see it turn dark brown, as we've seen with the newer iteration of Arran18 in the last few years (excuse me while I weave and duck to avoid a thousand projectiles from incensed sherry lovers). And yes, the Kilkerran 16 truly is a quiet whisky that demands its own quiet time to be genuinely savoured. I really enjoy the obvious barley and grist notes which indicate a gentle spirit that shows its new make provenance truly - very well balanced. On top of that, it has a delicate interplay of sweet and sour notes, which I find fascinating. Finally, full agreement from me on that Japanese Yoichi - the fill level is going down very slowly only because I've become quite precious with it. Elegant and subtly peated single malt with an exceptional balance. Many thanks for the deja vu with a recycled review - just about everyone's favourite quick whisky review format these days. Shall look forward to the next - after you've had time to study a few more expressions. Cheers.

Really enjoy your recycled reviews Roy! Ww spend a lot of time in Japan so get Yoichi for ¥4500 about £22. Worth trying Miyagikyo the non peated its also similar profile and a great partner. Keep an eye out for Sakurao, Togouchi both from the same distillery near Hiroshima but Tog is aged in a rail tunnel in the pine forests so wonderful profile as opposed to the one aged by the ocean.
Another to watch for is Kanosuke a blinder dram in every form ive tried.
Some stunning whisky coming out of Japan right now in addition to the traditional flavour profiles Suntory and Nikka provide.
Offsetting vote for the background music here. I like it personally, not that it matters too greatly. That music is just part of the adventure now: Keep it.

Cheers for another great show Roy. I seem to juggle with Powers John's Lane bottles like you do with Speyburn 15, I can't live without it!. The great thing that I always take from these shows is that we should never be afraid to try something new. The Yoichi is another excellent dram and I would love the Flora and Fauna range to be upgraded to a fully 46% natural presentation, we live in hope, cheers!

Your last review seemed to edge a bit against that, and it was reassuring to hear the always open, honest, and "common sense" thoughts today. I look forward to every one of these recycle reviews and appreciate the effort you put into providing us with "one man's opinion" on a nice cross-section of whisky. It is so sad to see the Diagio products slipping in quality and value. Flora and Fauna is too expensive in the US. I did love the Arran 14 and keep watching to find one. Great reviews and much appreciated. So many good whiskies out there and it helps to have feedback of your experience to help me make my choices for the limited bottles I buy. Thanks, Roy!

Many thanks for releasing a recycled review on your summer holidays Roy, watching while drinking the dregs of a Kilkerran 16yo 2022 release. Been on a wee journey with this bottle, initially loved it then my enthusiasm waned somewhat, no doubt due to drinking far too many cask strength heavy hitters but come the last third of the bottle everything clicked & whole heartily agree with the 9/10 score, so much so managed to find another bottle on auction, slàinte 🥃
No excuses, Roy! We need #18 soon!🤣 Speaking of Arran and madeira casks, I hope Arran revive their madeira cask finish, along with the 12 CS. The 12 CS and 14 are interchangeable for me in 1/2 spots.
That Arran 14… I miss it so much. I pretty much enjoyed every exprssion the have put out (I’ve tried, besides the 14, the 10, the 18, the Machrie Moor cask strength, the regular Machrie Moor and a couple of their non age statements), but this one is still my favourite.
Another great batch of reviews. Loved seeing the Balcones in that round. Their Texas Single Malt is one of my favorites. I noticed you managed to find a full on pour left in there as well.
Another great review Roy! Speyburn never ceases to impress me for the price agree with the 9/10! Glen Moray is brilliant value too! Daftmill has the most unique flavour profile in scotch. Instantly recognisable, engaging and complex. I love it!

Thank you so much! Here where I live it's rather hard to get good deal on whisky, especially more knows brands. Your suggestions have been so helpful! I bought the bottle of that Old Perth and loved it immediately. Also bought Speyburn 10 but 46% ncf. I'll need more time with that one, but I feel I got a good deal so it's okay. My brother likes it quite a bit :)

Greetings from Brussels! PC10 is brilliant, but price is hovering around 60 quid in some places: STILL better than Laga 16 though!
I find the Senaig smokier than the PC10. After I was halfway down the bottle the smoke was less dominant and I could taste more of the distillate and the sherry influence slowly shone through - loved the end of the bottle more than the start.

Cheers Roy for two reviews in such short time! That Yoichi is a beautiful sipper and honestly most of the others you recycled are as well. I sympathise with what you said about with more bottles acquired it takes longer to finish off them but hey that is a good 'problem' to have 😃
Älv is a good one 👌 super pungent overripe orchard fruits. Enjoying the Cinco II currently.

I'm sipping Balcones Lineage while watching this since I missed most of the premier. And sometimes you really would think it's a heavily cask influenced highland single malt.

Next time you're in Texas you should try Balcones Lineage. Their entry level single malt. One of my favorites and a great value at around $40 USD.

Balcones make exellent single malt. I haven't try the Meridor yet, but I can't wait to.
While listening in the yard I stopped, took out my ear buds…realized it was the thunder in the background that your mic picked up that I was hearing, not the clouds above me.
Arran 14 ... One of those I really regret not sticking up on! Hopefully it comes back. Best Arran I've had and I'm a fan of all I've had.

Ralfy has been on about Madeira casks and how it pairs with scotch. You and he are not wrong, its fucking amazing. We got a 13yo Glenallachie in the market that is finished in that and its just delicious stuff. Cant wait to find more thing finished that way!

I love that Yoichi Single Malt, but it's reached $100 here, which makes me think twice.

Lovely video as always! Since it's taking longer to get through bottles, perhaps you do a quarterly video of 3-5 whiskies that surprised you (feek free to interpret that word in various ways). Less about the full bottle journey, and more about your evolution as an enthusiast

Madeira cask Tyrconnell 15 may be the only one I've had from those casks, and you are correct... it's a cask that suits whisky very very well. I wish I could find more.

PC10 is one of my all time favorites. Unfortunately, it’s now $100 in my area.

Corryvreckan is peak Ardbeg for me, there is no reason to buy their Committee releases when they never can match this bottle. It is in my top 3 together with Laphroaig Lore and Octomore 10 year Dialogos.
Speyburn 18 is a belter imo

Yoichi was pretty hard to find in Japan for the past 5-10 years, but we are now seeing it more regularly, as they expanded production big time. With the present exchange rate it's less than £25 over there, which is a great price. £70 is a bit ridiculous. I look forward to their age statements coming back in more than tiny droplets.

My experience in the UK is that you very rarely find it for under £50, which is expensive for a NAS whisky even at 46% alc.
Another vote for NIKKA DISTILLERY, be it for YOICHI or MIYAGIKYO. 🥃

Ooof. Corryvreckan is one of my favorites, but I’m in the US and that bottle is north of $135. You said £60 in the UK? I’m jealous.
Eh port Charlotte if £54 on master of malts and dearer in wisky and bevy shops .expensive for a 10 year old .

A good whisky with a good price,50-60 euro here in Italy,for a 46 % abv,un chill filtered liquid.
Wow, no chance I'm getting Port Charlotte at that kind of price where I live, 7/10 for bad value, 9/10 goes to Ledaig 10, a solid 30% cheaper and often on sale. The peat to get now for me.
Tried the rassay Roy, cracking whiskey loved the malty, nutty dark berry fruits( dark fruit gums). What's it gonna be like when they release a 10 year old like leideg. Boom😃
