Another guest appearance from my lovely wife who naturally wanted to jump straight from a $30 bourbon to one of the most heavily peated whiskies on earth...Enjoy 🙃
Your wife's descriptions are hilarious, I have watched 3 of your episodes now and the ones with her in it are great. You are more relaxed and the banter is fun. I feel like my wife would want to watch these videos and start drinking whiskey because of you two.
Your channel is absolutely great! Some of the best parts are the ones that other channels would edit out. The interactions with you and your wife are priceless! Looking forward to the next video. keep it real!
So fun fact, in Europe and most of the rest of the world have always been 700 mL. The USA was one of the few that had a 750 mL standard, and there was a law that prevented 700 mL bottles to hit the market. That law has since been repealed or expired, so everyone has been slowly going to the global bottle size of 700 mL. But, that is also good news because now we, in the USA, can get some of the more specialty bottles that we couldn't before! Cheers and great episode!!
Octomore releases are X.1 Scottish barley first fill American oak X.2 Scottish barley American oak plus a wine finish barrel X.3 Islay barley American or European oak X.4 Scottish barley in virgin oak
Thanks for the Octomore love. Not bragging in any wat this is my absolute favorite scotch whisky. I have 12 or 15 different Octomores going back to the first year of production. Thanks again for the review. (:
@@samthomas7740 Many times I have gotten fruits and vegetal notes, every Octomore is slightly different. Batch variation aside I will always have Octomore in my whisky cabinet. (:
I was fortunate enough to have a dram of 11.1 years ago and it was ... well life changing (my whiskey life) and have an unopened 11.3 in my cabinet I am saving for a special day. Great episode.
i've only had the pleasure of 14.2. my son and i scored a pour each at his local store that has a massive test bar when you enter, so you can buy single pours of hard to find or very allocated/expensive stuff. amazing! (The Octomore, that is)and the store is cool, too.
My first two Octomores were 14.2 and 14.4 - both are highly recommended. In 14.2, the Italian Amarone wine casks provide very nice aromas which, together with the first-fill Oloroso sherry casks and first-fill French oak casks, have a strong influence so that the youth of the whisky is no longer obvious. In the 14.4, the Colombian virgin oak casks provide really interesting flavors, although the 14.2 is more delicious for me. Thank you for your highly entertaining videos, cheers to your wife! She likes an older guy... 🤔😂
09.1 was my peat epiphany. I had it blind. So sweet, complex and rich. Before then I though all peat was like "hospital-floor", but this changed everything. Love everything peaty now.
I've had a dram of every release from 1.1 to 12. My favorite is 6.3 followed closely by 4.2. Currently I have approximately 25 different releases including non-numbered releases and 10 year old.
Congrats, you’ve hacked the algorithm! Adding a good looking partner to the content to draw in more of the, mostly, male dominated audience. Organic chemistry, great humor, attractive sarcasm, keeping it unscripted and playful, nice work. Refreshing. Glad to see my wife isn’t the only one that criticizes whiskey appreciation.
A have a bottle of 11.1. Not so much day care as elderly care and a hint of salami mold. That said, I'm not much of a "get a whiff of what the kids are doing" kind of guy ;-)
As a Scottish man I can tell you that 700ml bottles are the standard here (as it is across mainland Europe as well). 750ml is an American standard which our distilleries cater to for that particular market.
Has anyone ever mentioned that you two have similar noses?... is that what attracted you to each other? Ha! Not a fan of peat... and not a particular fan of Scotch. But I'm enjoying your videos.

And she likes peated scotch too. You’re a lucky sonofabitch!
Another great episode - love the dynamic with you two.

😂 she's funny. Have her make more appearances.
One of my favorite releases. 13.2 is one of my favorites over the years!

Watching you two is like watching what goes on in my own mind. So glad I came across your channel!
Octomore releases are
X.1 Scottish barley first fill American oak
X.2 Scottish barley American oak plus a wine finish barrel
X.3 Islay barley American or European oak
X.4 Scottish barley in virgin oak
Your wife's tasting notes are great. Lol
My wife is the same. You 2 are great together.
Props to the wife for being such a good sport. You can tell she's not a whisky enthusiast but goes along to make you happy. :)

😳 That sounds like a dream.
@@otbwhiskey I actually have an Octomore problem, problem is I can't leave one behind in the store. :D
Any comment on the apple juice observation?

Love all peated scotch! Octomore - all I have tried - are spectacular!!
15.3 is amazing. Recommend
A bar near me had the Octomore 11.3, the only one I've tried and the best whisky I've ever had!

I love the ladies honesty. She is right these are young.
Holy crap, that is one gorgeous woman! Nice whiskey, too 👍
You have to try them with a couple of drop of water... Don't remember with version I tryed but the smokiness went trough the roof :)
If you are into the smokey flavor you really need to try Copper Fox eye out of Williamsburg VA. It's super good
Worth just watching her reactions to you. 🤣 🥃
Just found your channel and subscribed! Awesome videos! Cheers from Canada!

Same for me, 3 weeks ago. After that all the others don’t make sense anymore

the wife adds alot. have her on more!
loved the video if you like the Dram and smokey give lagavulin 16 years old a go.
Loooooove Lagavulin 16 👌🏻
I have a bottle of 2.1 bought direct from the Distillery. Never opened it yet!
I have a bottle as well. They were up to 7.x when I visited the distillery, so I picked up a 7.2.
Love how you two interact like an old married couple! Oh, wait... 😉
Where can I get the illuminated stand from?
Octomore... another pour of Daycare Apple Juice. 8 crayons out of 10.
Every conversation around whiskey in our house!? 😂👫🥃
There's a lot of eye rolling going on.
Daycare apple juice. Mic drop.
got any honey whiskey? made from mead distillates?
I don't, but that sounds delicious! Do you know of any we might be able to track down?

Hey Kate - If you ever get tired of the pretentious Chad, dump him. I'm 60. Less talky-talky. 😉
