It can be, but Android doesn't really play nice with external game controllers. You can get it to work, but it's definitely not plug and play. If you want a handheld that can also be plugged into a monitor/TV, you'd probably be better served getting something like the Steam Deck.

Do you need to install the emulator or just the roms of the games? Sorry for the dumb question, i am.new to this kind of console but i am very interested on playing some psx/2, ds, n64 games...
They are fairly similar in design, the emulators, so when you learn about one you have over 75% of the tools to go to a different emulator. You can also do this purely off of your android phone. I think SNES, PS1/PSX,PSP could be a good start. Low file sizes and good emulators for those with save states. You're gunna need to get more familiar with managing files too. So a file managing program on whatever device you want to use to do these operations on (phone, tablet, PC).
I like Z Archiver. I'm just a beginner at these things, but to get going it's really about getting stuff organized and knowing where to put it, without going too far ahead and not trying to emulate something out of your devices capabilities, though that can be fun to try out too! Lots of settings to mess with with most of the main emulators. Just remember what you tinker with! Or you might have to hit the default settings button and start all over. "Per game settings" on an emulator are great to have for this reason, steam deck has some stuff on it like that. Also a recently taken down popular emulator...LEMON?
I decided on the new Anbernic RG556 instead of this one simply because of comfort. Great ergonomics and even better OLED screen are the toppers. No it's not as powerful as the RP4 Plus, but it's close enough to not matter to me at least. Good review, sub'd.
If it were just the a slight power deficit that the screen and ergonomics had to make up for, I would've chosen RG556 as well, but a head-to-head review I recently saw mentioned some other points that have me leaning RP4pro - the sticks on the Anbernic had some pretty egregious cardinal snapping (though they did mention that it could be alleviated by software update), and more importantly to my particular use-case, inferior WiFi with sub-par speeds and streaming performance. Factoring that the $30 price gap in the RG556's favor has since narrowed down to merely $5, and I'd be getting me an RP4pro with the optional grips if the newest rumors of Xbox finally getting in the handheld game didn't have me back in wait-and-see mode...
I've had my odin for 11 months now, it's def a good buy. I'd say its up to preference but I find the bigger screen is nice for ds games if you want both screens up at once. I also just like a bigger screen personally.
Is it true that the face buttons (abxy) are squishy? That’s a pretty big deal breaker for me. Anything squishier than the switch joycons or Xbox 360 controller makes it feel very bad for me personally. I need clicky!
Oh nice! Thanks for that info! I was worried there would be no natural haptic feedback of pressing a button lol. It sounds picky, but I once had off brand Switch controllers that didn’t have the haptic click that every controller should have, and it was awful. Thanks for the reply!!

It's very good for me. I'm mostly emulating PSP at the moment. I have played for a couple of hours the last 4 days and I still have 59% left.
