I really like how even then, the difference between NTSC and PAL is not only the language options, but also the speed. With the whole 50hz being PAL and 60hz being NTSC. Not only does the cube spin slower heading to the menu in PAL, but with NTSC, there is a smoother frame rate. I don’t know, just thought it was interesting to see that come into effect here.

I owned an American (Possibly Canadian?) version, which only supported English, and I spent so much time on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, like it’s my most played game on the system, so this brings back memories, I also wonder why we didn’t get a version with a French language, as the country is primarily French speaking, probably due to Nintendo not knowing originally?
The NTSC-U version of the GameCube was released 6 months before its European counterpart. So...they didn't remove any language for the NTSC-U version. They just added those extra languages for its European release. :P
It's rather Disappointing that the Korean Gamecube is just. The Japanese Bios. The games (Or one of them (Super Mario Sunshine) is in English, Region coded to be Japanese for a Japanese(Korean) Gamecube. It's super Baffling
@@MrNoobNub I think, in the Americas, the DS was the first system to (an extent) normalize multiple languages besides English. Before then it was very rare for a (non-PC) game to have more than just English.
In case you dont know yet, Korean Gamecubes are JAPANESE. The only difference is that power cord has pins for Korean type C outlet (EU ungrounded) and is 230V 60 Hz instead of Japanese type A (American ungrounded) and 110 V 50/60 Hz. And the games with Korean packaging are Japanese region (actually only 2 are in Korean, vast majority in English and rest in Japanese) + imported games from Japan, as I said Korean and Japanese Gamecubes are the same thing.
Because Russia couldn't get a Nintendo Gamecube at the time. When Various Cloned consoles exist. (And probably other various things that i wouldnt know) Until The Nintendo Switch officially got Localised

Fun fact: The Nintendo Gamecube was the first Nintendo console to ever have italian language.
Also portuguese
Mostly because older consoles had almost no menus
I didn't know
@@nooknight14Nope, PS2 had it first as far as I'm aware.

Seeing the gamecube menu in Brazillian portuguese hits different
yes...im a Brazilian
The transition noise scared the shit out of me when I was little I used to run out the room whenever it happened.
Funny. I never liked silence in games, now I don't care if does or doesn't.
I didn't know GameCube menu had music until today.
Tbh, I didn't even know how the gamecube menu looked like until today.😅
I just like how the European languages put the translation for Memory Card on the bottom of the English version.
Yeah, in case you don't know what the hell a memory card is, or how to call it in your language, which is justified
Finally, BilingualCube
I've never seen the portuguese GameCube menu before
Yeah, me neither.
Mostly because only brazillian and bilingual pepole use this language

I can hear difference between PAL menu music and NTSC menu music.
Too bad the American GameCube did not arrive with Latin Spanish language
Also, Why is the Dutch for 'Press to Start' the only one not in all caps?!
I find it really odd that NTSC consoles don't have a language option like PAL consoles do
Wonder why they axed it for NTSC?

Now I wonder how you got a Brazilian GameCube, since GCN is from same era as PS2, maybe be hard to find an GCN in my country.
This is emulated - sadly I don't have one

Mine doesn’t have the option to change the language ?😢
American version then
I wonder if its possible to reverse engineer the text in the gamecube menu somehow
man this ui has a certain vibe to it

It's a language setting.
