The pill doesn't give the martian interrogator any information in itself. He is an officer on the martian navy's flagship, meaning he has martian military intelligence backing him up. That's where all his info comes from. The pill just enhances his focus to make it easier for a well trained interrogator to see and ticks and clues on a person to find out when they're lying or holding stuff back. That's why he insisted on seeing Naomi's hands, too.
The woman with the distinctive voice who plays Avaserala is a famous voice actor in video games. For one example she voiced a quarian admiral in the Mass Effect games. She is in many, many others.
One thing I like about the show is that they don't explain everything about the world and trust the viewers to figure things out. Like the pill thing: from what's shown in the episode, I believe that it's a focus drug that increases perception and allows the user to read microexpressions, voice inflections, etc., essentially turning the user into a human lie detector.
BRUUUUUH.... I just now caught this watching it on your video. When the Morman asked if they wanted to go to that event or whatever it was, game night or something, that one buddy cop "gave out his information" right? Thing is, that cop wasn't "Captain Shaddid" as the Morman read off from the "handoff". Shaddid is the Captain of the District, their boss. He also said "keep calling me back if I don't answer, I really wanna go." He just pranked the Captain by signing her up for spam calls by MORMANS. XD
Oh yeah, S1E3 down, and "CQB" is up next! I'm going to have to go watch it right now, the hype is to real! Can't wait to see ya'll react to the next one, it's a banger!
What the Belters speak is a mix of English for a base with Chinese, Russian, Spanish, German and some other vocabulary with a simpliefied and mixed Grammar as a Creol is bound to have plus a set of gestures originally meant to communicate when suited up. Beware, this is the last episode of slow world building with "CQB" everything goes nuts and doesn't let up anymore until a little break in S03 😆. And remember that Miller's partner trying Belter Creol feels about as provocative and annoying as you'd feel about me blathering on in fake Ebonics, cheesy white as my complexion is😂 Best regards Raoul G. Kunz
Well this was a surprise given my comment last night LOL! Glad to see you two pushing forward because next episode is going to be LIT believe me! After that things will build up more with episodes 8, 9, and 10 answering a lot of the questions you two are going to have! Once this season of world building/detective case solving ends S2 and beyond barely slow down from that point. Just hold on as the show churns out the info throughout this slower season! You are correct about paying attention, this show above anything I've ever watched pays off ALL details (things said, things done, background stuff). I've watched the entire series a 10th time only to discover there were things I still ended up missing that I never knew they'd pay off down the road!!! They do that so much that there's things that'll happen in this season that you won't see paid off until Season 6 (you'll likely forget about it by that point too)!!!
Nice been waiting for this! Next episode is great too (I mean they all are when taken together, like you said gotta pay attention). There's not much action, but when there is it's pretty great. Clarification: Martians are human too, they were colonists terraforming mars (hence the "turn a lifeless rock into a garden" comment), that at some point seceded and formed their own nation. As far as we know at this point, the only life in the solar system originates from Earth, since faster than light travel is impossible.
I find the phrase "cold blooded" very accurate on many levels, not the least of which is hearing Wes (Amos on the show) say it regularly on "Ty and that Guy". Keep up the good work, I enjoy watching your show.
The pill the interrogator took is a focus drug. It helps him notice every little movement and bit of voice inflection so it helps him figure out when someone is lying to him.
I’m happy to see that you are sticking with the Expanse! It gets better and better. Have you watched Raised by Wolves yet? I would love to see your reaction to that show.
That little pill? Focus drugs. Helps him see tiny changes in expression or facial tics or eye twitches that might let him know they're lying, holding back, or having some kind of emotional response to something he said. Cool stuff. Tough break for Frank, though. But Chrisjen's a ruthless "ends justify means" type of politician.
Great reaction! And Great review! I think you two are really enjoy this show! And you're right, you do need to pay attention to the dialog. There are no wasted lines or scenes in this show! You think this show might be ruthless? You have no idea! Can't wait for the next one!
All of these questions very hard to answer, riiiiiiight? ...Enjoying your reactions. This show has more than a few surprises. It's what makes it great.
Dude y’all keep doing this it will work out in the end trust me. A buncha dudes are gonna find out about the expanse and y’all will kick some ass for it. And be the first or one of the first to have a full time.

"Remember the Cant?!"
The Expanse is just as much a commentary on socio-economics and politics as much as hard sci-fi.
Looking forward to your thoughts after you finish watching the first season.

They used a rock drill on Havelock. It is a kind of mining tool.
Lord have mercy! A Rock Drill?!?! That’s brutal!! 😬

That was so funny ! You guys wondering what the martians look like while seeing the crew on a martian ship talking to the martians...lol
Lolol 😂😂😂 we were expecting to see some alien looking creatures or something.
-Adison
