I am a Nov/22 IF class grad. This course is so perfectly done and simplifies the IF lifestyle. DyAnn is an excellent coach. I was about to enter my 60's and wanted to be more fit. For the 1st time in my life I am in control and lost over 100 lbs and I am maintaining. Hubby joined in out of the blue although not as clean as me and still dropped 35lbs. We both love the lifestyle and DyAnn's always available to us for any help we may need. 20:4 fasting is freedom.
I haven't seen a medical Dr for years and I'm in my late 60s, I haven't talked to one who speaks first about nutritional remedies, because its not in their wheelhouse. I have approached memory making moments by finding ways to live as usual so as not to feel nauseous or exhausted later. I don't even bother to watch videos that say fasting is unsafe, I feel marvelous on longer fasts.
Jan 2023 grad here! Jump into class! It changed my life and it can change yours too! You will learn a lot about 20:4 IF and how you can incorporate it into your life. It's not that difficult once you get the hang of it! It's helped me lose weight and has given me an "energized sense of calm" as Dy Ann says and I don't obsess over food anymore, thank God! I do the 20:4 IF and it works for me! I eat mostly whole foods, and I make sure to get enough protein so I'm not hungry during my 20-hour fasting window. As long as I'm in a caloric deficit, I will lose weight. I also allow for a treat or two occasionally and my favorite meal. I plan my fasts around social gatherings and my daily schedule so I don't feel deprived. I also drink lots of water and try to work out consistently but that's something I need to improve! Keep up the awesome work Dy Ann! Your class and podcasts and upbeat attitude have really made a difference in my life on my weight loss jouney! 😊
Just found you. Enjoying all your videos. Thank you. You think like me. I'm 68 and have only been doing this for a month. I'm at a good weight but no more dieting brain after thinking "food" since I lost 65 lbs in 2010. I feel SO free and excited to make this my final lifestyle!
I agree with all you say. ❤ I've been listening to you for almost 2 years. I love IF. I've never taken your course but have done IF off & on over my life. So ever since finding you, I do my best to do 20 hr fasting everyday. I definitely believe that 20hrs works best just from my own experience. It truly is so simple. Thank you for all you put out for women ❤ (I watched your video 1 day after you posted)
My new doctor took my blood results and told me that all my blood work came out great EXCEPT my cholesterol was high and that it was the fasting that’s causing it…she told me I needed to eat breakfast cause “breakfast is the most important meal of the day “ (I wanted to ask her why is she quoting Edward Bernays like it was the gospel?)…mind you now she’s as big as a house but she’s going to give me advice. 🙄 I opted to find another doctors going forward…👍🏽
Doctors really don’t understand nutrition. What makes DyAnn so inspirational is that she understands that all women have different bodies and we need to listen to our bodies. I took her first course back in 2018 and find her way of teaching to be realistic!
Dr. Mindy Pelz says to IF and vary the times which only made it harder for me ! 13 hours one day 17 others it just made it impossible! I like 20:4 consistency it’s easier !
Yes I agree. So for me in the beginning I stuck to 20 hours until I was able to slide in & out of a fast easily. Now I incorporate fasting according to my cycle as Mindy suggests. It takes time. Just do what we for you and incorporate other suggestions as you see fit ❤
I am so grateful for this video. Just what I needed to hear today! Thank you Dy Ann 💗 Your program has made such a difference in my life. Nice to look and feel my best.
Thanks for the “ no nonsense “ approach! Gained way too much weight over winter because of not using self control. Doing the 20:4 , day 2 was good but I ate way too much in my 4 hours. I was diagnosed pre-diabetic a while ago and lost weight out of fear and crazy exercise. But it all came back. I’m 60 and post menopausal so I have a lot of belly fat. I also have been taking cholesterol medication for many years and I wish I could get off them. Well, any way thanks for what you do. Can’t really afford the class at this time but love watching your videos.
Very good advice. I have been in the loop of gaining and losing the same weight over and over. I have also done the long fast and overeating and getting nowhere. You're right!
Btw I loved this video so much. I’ve been missing a lot your live coaching videos. And in this one it was like old times when you used to answer all of our questions. You’re so natural, really missing it ❤❤
I know I miss it too! But I have to play the YT game. And my regulars weren’t even showing up for the LIVES as regularly! So that was really hurting my channel growth. I will do one of these a month. To give us that LIVE Q&A feel. So nice to see you!
November 2023 graduate, thanks for another great video. Joining the IF class changed my life and it all started with the mindset shift ! So many of these questions were answered in the course and also by listening to your own body and experience. Try it out and let yourself feel like you can do anything!!!
I did 2MAD today for the first time successfully! I had such a hard time before . I even did some rebounding trampoline fasted ! Felt great it’s so convenient to eat 2MAD with IF . I was so busy training my service dog ( TBI PATIENT HERE ) and menopausal which makes it even harder . Thankful for the info here ! Thank you !
February 24 course graduate I absolute love the freedom I have to figure out which foods work best for me. I’ve been given various meal plans over the years and half the foods listed are foods or meals are not foods I like or enjoy. Figuring it out for myself empowers me!

@DyAnnParham yes you really did make me think and everything you said is true. It's been 5 days now doing 20:4 whilst premenopausal. And I listened to you and studied how my body is feeling and I feel GREAT!!!...my inflammation has gone down, my tummy flatter, I feel lighter, I'm loving not having to plan what to eat for brekky, lunch n dinner. I look sooo forward to my feast meal and have fun planning that 1 meal whilst trying to get a good level of protein in. I swear I look a bit slimmer too😁....but the most AMAZING thing that has happened....my craving fir alcohol has gone. B4 fasting every evening I'd have to have a few glasses of wine...now...after I feast im so full the thought of alcohol is a no no. Thank u sooo much!!!!.....the other day..I looked at myself in the mirror at how fat and bloated i was and thought...... my life is finished. Now I'm excited😁😁😁😁
Holy cow! You must have been reading my mind DyAnn!!! I was just thinking about quitting fasting all together because i feel like it makes me binge eat! I now understood its my mind set. AND i dont fast on the weekends! Hello?? Yeah i am starting again today. Thanks so so much for helping me understand. We are all so blessed to have you❤
Day one! I’m hopeful. 59 and hope to start this journey between 16:8 and 20:4 with the hope of settling into 20:4. 🥳🤷🏻♀️ love your approach and attitude. Ty!
Two days and I’m already adjusting to 20:4. I seem to do well until the 11th hour and then I’m ready. Walking daily an hour and really plannng my meals…@1500-1700 daily. Really feel this is the right path. Starting off grateful.
Said Dr suggests a 36 hour fast to help promote weight loss but not to undo poor eating choices. I love a 36 hour fast to rest & keep me on my goals. Definitely a game changer for me.
In all fairness to the person asking how to get enough protein in, in a 4 hour feasting window, I don't think they were asking for "what do I eat"? Your body does need a certain amount of protein each day depending on age and weight. Older adults (over 50) need more protein and getting the required amount in 4 hours is about impossible. Your body can only "process" a certain amount at a time. I don't feel like the question was really addressed properly. I think this is important for people to understand if they're going to do a 20:4 hour fast daily.
That is not true. New research out. So depending on what research you choose to follow. It can be possible to get your personal protein goals in when feasting for 4 hours.
Adding to this question do you eat a chicken and say a streak in that 4 hour window? Or is the whole chicken breast enough? Along with some veggies I know I couldn’t eat all that at once. One dinner seems enough for me.
It’s true our bodies adapt to a rhythm weight loss plateau. For some menopausal women, might need to do a longer fast “consistently” in order to tap into fat stores and live a normal life. Whether 20.4 or 36 a healthy mindset approach is needed for all IF and time restricted eating.
I have been doing this 20/4 for week now. Meals are beans and vegetables. All whole foods. I have gained 5 pounds! Can you eat too much during feasting? Is this temporary?
I am a beginner faster😊 I am 61, about 50 pounds over weight and tired of feeling sick and tired. Starting watching you about a week ago. I am a week in of doing 20:4 fast window. I start fast at 6 pm and end it at 2 pm. The only time I really struggle with it is about 5 hours in. Start getting uneasy feeling in stomach. But once through that I am good, not hungry. Even when my breakfast time comes, I don’t feel hungry which is strange to me. I ate myself over weight mostly from boredom and habit, not stress. Hoping this helps with hot flashes which I still struggle with as well I hope it helps me sleep better. FYI- I just weighed myself and have not lost anything. I don’t feel any different at all. Should I be fasting even longer then 20 hours as I don’t feel hungry after 20
Hey DyAnn , thank you for all this information. I have one question, I think I know the answer, is it as beneficial if I have to change the start and end times of the fast during the week? for example, I might fast beginning at 6 o’clock in the evening for 20 hours on somedays and on other days, I may start at 8 o’clock in the evening for 20 hours. I know it seems a petty point but in terms of my families needs it’s relevant. Thank you.
That is the beautiful thing about a FASTING LIFESTYLE vs a FASTING DIET! We work fasting around our life not our life around fasting. If you are enjoying the lifestyle you create you are more likely to stick with it. ❤️
I know your videos are geared to women in their 50’s but I’m 41. Would fasting for 20 hours be something you would recommend for my age as well. It’s not that far off from 50 and my weight gain has had me feeling so hopeless. Thank you!
