I have always loved this Icon, of an image. I have a daughter born in 1979, and this was very popular during that time. I’m going to start a few small baby/youth quilts for my ‘hopeful’ great-grandchildren. Happy sewing/quilting!

I had my first beautiful baby in 1979, I made her a beautiful Holly hobbie pram quilt, everyone stopped to admire her and the stunning quilt, she's 45 now and living in America with her own family, a long way from her home in Ireland, thanks.

Wow, that brings back memories. When my 54 year old daughter was very small, I made her a Sun Bonnet Sue and Overall (?) Sam quilt. It was fun to make and she still has it. Lots of tiny pieces. No heat n bond back then.
    Your embroidery looks terrific!

Someone appliqued this quilt using this exact Sunbonnet Sue pattern when my mother was born in 1930. It was never quilted, unfortunately, until I was born in 1953. That was my mom’s favorite quilt block. I have some of her pieces to still put together and blocks she gave me and a pink sheet for the back fabric. Years ago when my mom used to quilt in the 70’s she used cardboard and I have her magazines and some of them have her cardboard templates.
You did a wonderful job! I’m sure the original quilter would be pleased that you’re finishing her work. I hope to one day finish my mom’s. She’s only been gone two years. Hopefully soon so everyone could enjoy seeing her work 💐. Thank you for the inspiration.

This pattern is almost identical to the one in 101 quilt patterns. By Ruby McKim. Older soft cover book , but might be found as reprint @ amazon. I've had the book for almost 50 yrs., used so many times. Used patterns as is, changed sizes, changed settings, etc.!,etc. First made the sunbonnets when G., Mother taught me to hand applique when 9. She cut them free hand, every one doing a different activity. Wish I still had that quilt. Used an old flannel blanket as batt, old precale sheet as back. I'm just turned 77. Wow... long time ago & still making quilts.

I was writing to tell you all about my three generation quilt (twin size) like that and POOF it was gone. Too tired to rewrite except to say it was made by grandma, mom and me. Grandma born in 1890s, mom 1914 and me 1953. Gma appliqued, mom put quillt together and handquilted and I did the binding. Plus I have lots of blocks and her paper patterns.

I wonder if the tag meant that the blocks were 30s blocks, since the fabrics were 30s style. That is an unusual way to appliqué, but I like the effect. Your little lady fits in perfectly. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them.

The sun is shining and I’ve found a new video from you 🎉🤩 What a perfect way to start a Sunday morning 😊 I don’t usually like appliqué but then I’d never seen it done like this before - and I love it 🥰 Thanks Beth 👏👏🇬🇧

I love that heavy appliqué stitch, I have used it before.

Loraine Leuschke 💝✂️ I discovered a way to sew faster and easier even as a beginner, I talk more about it in my channel, I hope it helps those who need it.

Does anyone have a pattern for a teen sue? My mother made one for my sister many, many decades ago. I have never found the pattern.

Can you borrow your sister’s quilt and use the window method to copy it? Or go visit your sister?
