I did the qte version and the cutscene triggered just as I caught on fire from Eli's Molotov, it looked funny because I entered the cutscene on fire, and halfway through it, it went out and then I was all burnt with smoke coming off me.
Pretty cool that Kojima knows about Lord of the Flies. I know that it's pretty well known in North America (and I'd assume the UK), but I doubt it's super well known in Japan.

So many different ways to go about missions, hidden secrets, etc. I'm playing through this series Chronologically while obtaining a deep level of understanding of game mechanics and scripted moments. I started with Snake Eater and am ending with Guns of the Patriots. Right now I'm collecting dog tags in MGS2, so I'm pretty close to wrapping this whole ordeal up. I really don't understand why people hate mgsv:pp. Even now as I actually understand who Liquid and Solidus are, and what Revolver "Shalashaska" Ocelot would eventually do, it only made phantom pain's moments deeper upon reflection. and also... - Spoilers - Learning than Venom Snake =/= Big Boss made Peace Walker and MGS3 even better knowing that Big Boss you've been playing as does not turn evil, but an MSF soldier does.

Cus the mgs5 story is a shit send off for ppl playing the game for 20+ years. No major zero. No major plot or character development. No proper ending. Its understandable for newbies of the series to love mgs5. The vets have come to expecting a substantial story character plot with layers and layers of great conspiracy and meaningful purpose to every main and supporting character. This didn't have any of that. It had great game mechanics. Thats it.
Hate to break it to you, but Big Boss most definitely turned evil. Venom was just following orders. Big Boss' orders. Big Boss ended up being "The Man Who Sold The World", plunging it into an eternal proxy war without end, recruiting child soldiers, etc. The mess that the world became in MGS4 was because of Big Boss. Not to mention forcefully stealing a man's entire identity away from him and forcing Big Boss' will upon his, effectively destroying everything he ever was. Big Boss was about as villainous as you can get. People get confused because there was no "THIS is the moment where he goes bad!" followed by maniacal laughter. None of that happened. In Big Boss's mind, he was the good guy, and he kept believing it right up until Solid Snake killed him in Metal Gear 2. His descent into villainy wasn't a cartoonish one, but a very real thing. You can't always expect the audience to be led by the hand to the answer. Particularly not in Kojima's work, and ESPECIALLY not in MGSV. Kojima didn't feel the need to inform you, flat out, that Big Boss became a villain. He expected you to figure it out yourself.
Best method: sneak up to the boat without getting on it. Throw a magazine at the room Eli is in. Immediately start charging Stun Arm lvl 3. School's out.
I've only had to do this once but using the cardboard box trick makes it very easy. Even if he sees you in the box you can walk straight up to him. You can also let him "settle" and sneek up and tranq him. You made this look harder than it is. Trust me I'm shit at this game but still did it first time 😆
You do realise that many of Boss's crew are actually more skilled than him? All Big Boss has to him really is the legend. You gain many crew members that have more skill than snake during Peace Walker, and the Medic was "The Best"
Method 4 : Quiet with Guilty Butterfly (Tranquilizer round) could take Eli with 100% accuracy, all you had to do just lure him to her line of fire then he just fall asleep, I remember when I play this mission at the first using this method, in the end she just 👌 at me when she took down him, a nice little detail that Kojima did
I had Quiet set to "cover me" to deal with the rest of the child soldiers as I approached the boat, to have her take out Eli as well. Only after watching this do i come to find out its a boss fight!
i brought quiet to the mission, you know, to take down all those kids. Well, my initial plan was to do cqc with him, and it's pretty tough. Then he suddenly fell asleep, and several seconds later I realized that I allowed quiet to "fire at will", so she just shot him in the face like any other npcs.
I had ordered quiet to scout the area and didn’t realise she tranq’ed him without me asking. I was searching around for him for a good while before I realised he was already passed out on his ship

I love how battered down and armorless Solid Snake fare better fighting adult Liquid than whatever it is "Big Boss" doing fighting kid Liquid in the third way.
You can get him trapped against a wall with stun automatic weapons by repeatedly knocking him down. He won't even be able to move a bit while you have bullets in your clip. If you shoot just a few shots at a time you can knock him down many many times. The only thing you need to notice is not to knock him off the boat.
Just run around... All elevations of the boat... and let quiet do all the work. Whole mission takes 11 minutes but you'll get an S rank for basically rubberbanding your controller
The first time I saw child jogger soldiers the first thing I thought of was "kill 'em before they breed" then I was told I couldn't kill them. So lame.

Right after landed from copter, I sent Quiet with guilty butterfly to scout and gave cover me order, suddenly mission is updated to extract White Mamba, she took down the whole camp, I did nothing lol.

You don't need to throw a magazine. Just zap him with the Stun Arm.

You could also use your fully charged shock arm stand within 20 metres and then shock him

By far the easiest way is to use the stun arm (fully charged)! You don't even need to be close to him since it has a 45m range.
If snake wasn’t held back by not killing him snake can just use his bionic arm and slap the boy once and that boy would be begging for bed time
