So many people who have no idea what grass roots racing is like. The whole point is to learn and get better. Mike is fully aware how slow he is and how much he needs to improve, that's the reason he's racing.
You are NOT, "technically a racing driver", you ARE a racing driver. A level 1 racing driver, but, every one starts at level 1. And, seriously, race 1 in the freaking rain? Mad props for that.
Just watched all these today after hearing Mike mention it on OxBox a couple of times. As someone who's always had almost no interest in motorsports I have to say it looks like a lot of fun with a huge amount of hard work and discipline behind it, and I'm really happy Mike got to realize his dream. Now back to watching him talk about games on his usual channel :)
Brodie Bennett He's part of OutsideXbox, if you aren't aware, which is a (brilliant) gaming channel--but I would absolutely watch a Mike racing channel. Or a Mike looks for change in his couch channel, frankly, because he's thoroughly entertaining.
Fantastic series, living your dream... all the emotions you describe, fear, thrill, passion, etc. rushed through me on those first track days on serious circuits. Nice job!
I was racing that weekend as well! I've been racing for a few years and definitely found that one of the worst weekends I've been at for changeable conditions so it's great to see how well you coped. I can tell you for sure that I was nowhere near as composed for my first race a while back and it was bone dry!
No I’m just saying that maybe if they released a seperate video with the full race footage and also this video it would be better.in my opinion just the racing footage would be boring because the pre race is maybe bigger than the actual race and there might be some more to learn from in that than just race footage if you’re watching this video as a information source to start racing yourself Sorry for the run on sentences
Well done, Mike! I'm so excited for you! The next racing game you play, you need to do a bit where you're pretending to be snobby and correcting everything-- "Oh, in a REAL race, it wouldn't be that way at all," lol. =)
Good luck and a big thumbs up to Mike! That'd be awesome if you guys and Mike could add another video just about the maintenance routines and costs of keeping and racing this so-called entry-level race car...
Brilliant series this as its actually achieveable, we all love supercars but they are not achieveable for most, this feels like if i REALLY wanted, i could do this, also feels like bumping into somebody i used to know even though i only ever saw him on xbox videos.
How tall are you Mike? That looks like a really tight squeeze to get in! I'm 6' and I can get into my Caterham SV ok, but I really fancy the G40R......if I could fit! Cheers, great vids.
ptonpc we saw the video this year however his car has 2014 plates so unless its second hand (and the video seems to show it being built for him) it would have to be 4 years ago
That's how most lower-level rearwheel driven racing series are in the wet (typically not 15 seconds, but very often between 8 and 12 seconds) because you have guys with very little experience compared to guys with huge experience (EG. experienced karting drivers that has made the jump to car racing and are starting in a lower-level category, experienced drivers that have been in the certain series for a decade and so on). It just shows you how much of a challenge wet weather racing is.

Living the dream, there's nothing I'd rather do than racing.

I think Mike should consider starting his own UA-cam channel!
I'd love to see what happens next :)

I went through similar process and now I'm racing, follow mine!
Yep, his own CHANNEL. Get it? Mike CHANELL? Ok, that was bad.
I’ll see myself out.
That 2nd slide was well controlled. Lost position but didn't spin. Great work!
Fantastic series, living your dream... all the emotions you describe, fear, thrill, passion, etc. rushed through me on those first track days on serious circuits. Nice job!
I'd love to see a full on board of each race
DH Skips
That would be great!
Get sponsored, get fit , get pole !!!!! Get in there Michael!
Great item....1st race....and recorded...well done that man !
Well done fella, long may you continue

Nice work Mike. Great to see you living the dream. This is really well shot also.
So awesome mike!!! Congrats!!!
Im really enjoying this series, hoping it goes for the full first season. C'mon mike !!!!
This is such a great series! Thanks for making this.
Yes Mike!
This is brilliant! It shows that anyone with a passion for racing can get off the sofa and actually do it.
as long as they have £40,000 of throwaway cash lying around
This has been an absolute blast to watch. Genuinely interesting stuff--even to a total racing outsider like me.
I can't believe how little onboard footage of the racing was shown. Would've been really enjoyable to see. Next time please!
Ummm it’s a race.camera footage from the inside might be hard to capture
@@spades7632 are you daft? The video contains onboard footage, just not enough of it...

I'm still enjoying this. Keep them coming.

Well done to you, Sir! You’ve always wanted to do it and now you’re doing it. Inspiring.
Just glad the race doesn't go full Mike
Good luck and a big thumbs up to Mike!

This was a great series, thanks for sharing.
And good save.

haha their conversation with other drivers felt like first day at a new school to me
Shame the weather isn't ideal. I have to agree i hope this series continues all year very interesting
Loving this series of vids!!!
Nice job mick!
We need a follow up series, Drew! That would be really great..
Mike doesn't have the money to do another season
I actually prefer driving in the wet. I feel it improves overall car control.
Great effort.... Great episode!!
Great videos keep it up! Starting to fall for Ginetta watching these!
Anyone fancy giving me 35 grand so I can do this? It looks like the best experience ever!
Well done, hats off to you
such a good series
Congratulations Mike ! All those years of driving games seem to have paid off :) Next stop GT Academy ?
Well done - great vid- good luck in the next 👍🏼
Great stuff! THANKS!
This is so cool
Great video!
Very cool!
Is that the guy from Outside Xbox?
That's what I thought, pretty sure it is.
Yep
yes see the first ep
That was a great recovery honestly. Yeah you were slow, but still, you had fun.
Hey, at 3:42 you can clearly see Agent 47 messing with Mike's competence. No fair!
Every circuit in the U.K. is the slipperiest one in the U.K. when wet 😄
6:25 that initial d moment in the shingo race lolololo
Nice 360 bro, haha good save.
6:27 IT'S GASLY!!!
That was great
How tall are you Mike? That looks like a really tight squeeze to get in! I'm 6' and I can get into my Caterham SV ok, but I really fancy the G40R......if I could fit! Cheers, great vids.
Around 5'10", I believe. The height of all Oxboxtra members get mentioned in one of their Q&A's.
i swear to god I'd be so tempted to attempt to drift like halfway through the race 😂
Ginetta may be dead
but this Ginetta is alive
Would like to see more episodes even if it just go pros and voice overs.
What's the purpose of the X on the back bumper of each car?
David Cowie it's signifies a novice driver, you have to have it for your first few races.
David Cowie
It marks the spot.
Parkski Thanks.
Hahah! i remember my first race!....
so all this happened 4 years ago? the car is 2014 reg and we saw him buy it new in the 1st ep
No. It was this season. He got his car earlier this year 2018.
ptonpc we saw the video this year however his car has 2014 plates so unless its second hand (and the video seems to show it being built for him) it would have to be 4 years ago
His twitter feed confirms he bought the car this year. I've tweeted with him previously about it.
is it 2nd hand then?
Are you french ? Because you where at the Paul Ricard when you where kid!
I'm pretty much a racing driver -Alex
Mr Slow!!
english accents are interesting.
I like this guy but he inescably reminds me of the guy from inside Xbox.
He is that guy from Xbox
Parkski Are you pulling my leg? I swear he was older. 😂
robisfantastic watch episode one of this series
Parkski cool thanks!
*Outside Xbox
WTF. 15 seconds between the fastest and slowest drivers. To be frank, that's not very good at all. Not by a country mile.
Thumbs down cause you called the condition disgusting 😑
Buying your way instead of earning your way
lmao, i really hope you are joking.
He's having fun?
And by "earning your way", you mean selling your soul to the sponsors so that they can buy it for you, right?
What do you even mean? He bought the car and has practiced a lot
Dave Taylor flog.
Mate you really need to improve the people you are racing are also novices.
helpful advice, I'm sure he hadn't considered improving his driving skills
Race Life he should have started in a really amateur series. Maybe even karting for a few years
Cameron karting is more tough than what he is doing
Race Life I'm talking 4 stroke endurance karting, the most amateur you can get.
Cameron yah
