I've been racing with Mike this year in the GRDC and been able to achieve 7 podiums out of 8 races!!. I'm going into Ginetta GT5 next season and if you're looking to continue this series next year with another driver i'd love to get involved.
This series has really bedded in nicely. I had a hard time really liking Ian very much at first, because I haven't done what he's doing (car series...I've done car trackdays and amateur karting series) and yet I'm so much more prepared, so I was irritated at his nervousness and inexperience. But to see them really get into the series, and that conversation with Adam Hay-Nichols in particular, demonstrates the pleasure and camaraderie and personal development that comes with amateur racing. He's really developed in his calmness and his understanding and he's getting on with it. This is roundabouts where I wish EVERY driver was in their development, honestly, even just for road driving: humbled, inspired, and calm.
...what do you expect? You buy the car, you pay for them to run the series and support your car with crew, safety, insurance, mechanics, engineers, and vehicle transport, and if they have to fix your car, they charge you for the parts. The labor is included in your fee! It's actually a pretty good deal if you need any repairs. That 7 pound part would've been a couple hundred pounds with labor charges.
+Matt Clark I am aware of all of that. However it's their fault the car isn't working, you wouldn't expect to buy a new car and to pay for parts if it breaks in the first few months! That's mad
I hear what you’re both saying but kind of edge toward Mr Bandit’s view here - if a part like that fails I’d have assumed they would sort it for free. Obviously if you crash I would expect a repair bill but this seems a bit odd as a basic non-consumable item has simply failed.
Am I right in thinking that Ginetta looks after the car between races? You don’t have to transport the car to the track and find space for it in your garage, right?
I’m really enjoying this series, thank you so much for your work on it
And for making it available for free, rare on today’s UA-cam
Cheers

Christopher Salkeld did you get paid when you achieved podiums ?
Keep the episodes coming a unique look at grassroots racing
Some say…... he’s the dude from Outside Xbox…..and they’d be right actually :) Loving the series Mike, good luck at Brands Hatch !
Brilliant series. Shows us all what accessible racing is available later on in life!
Hope you manage many more races Mike.

I hope there is more to come!
Ginetta: He's showcasing your cars, your race series, and you charge him for a bloody relay. What has the world come to?
Right?! And the issues came up due to whats seems to be an engineering defect.
Bear in mind he has already crashed the car, relay looked cracked, probably not ginetta’s fault.
Such a great series.
is it possible for u to upload all the full/raw race footage, or would that constitute some type of tos violation with ginetta? great content, btw.
That would be awesome
Wait... it's really MIKE from outside xbox? ??
Dolphino Egglet I know! He's great there, and he's great here. I have no real interest in racing, but I'd subscribe to "Mike Races" in a heartbeat.
Great series! Keep it up!
Go Mike! :D
I like Mike's rival's car number XD
I think you should do some extended versions of these with more race footage
The other racer in the last battle looked like he was participating in Formula D hahahaha
This series have a great core message: "If this mophead can become a racing driver, so can you."
The guy in the last battle thinks he's Ricciardo with those dive bombs lol
Sorry, they charge you for the parts?! Didn't you pay for the car, do they offer no warranty? O.o Not very confidence inspiring, £7 or not..

I was thinking the same. That should have been in the warranty

Sounds like we have a wait for the next race :( ?
How do u afford it
You could promote more adults in karting. You can get much more seattime and a much higher sense of speed.
"I'm media, you're, uh, youtube..."
"Verstappen levels of blocking" first Uber cringe of 2019 for me
So when are u changing your name back to Xcar ???
Is he really becoming a racing driver, though?
Well done mike... no difference between you ‘from you tube’ and that over inflated ‘journalist’...
Mike also writes for Top Gear magazine (or at least he did), so he’s not quite just a youtuber.
It's quite sad to see the huge difference in lap times. Some people are obviously just pay-to-play drivers with no real natural talent.
Well, they're learning
Isnt that the point of this race series, to allow normal people to be able to experience motorsport?
Don't need this advice. thanks. I'm already the bollocks.
