This ABSOLUTELY had me on the edge of my seat the whole time, it brings an entirely new level of enjoyment to think about how this is actually advancing your racing career! GET IN THERE LEWISSS
You're demonstrating the very essence of racing. If you're not constantly struggling at the edges of grip and power, you're not really trying. Every turn, lots of little adjustments, a bit of a wiggle, all the trappings of someone dancing on the razor's edge of control. Excellent showing.
Really appreciate him including his crashes and errors. Just shows that mistakes are part of racing and of the learning process. Great stuff and well deserved win!
Honestly this is one of the things that I've wanted to see my whole life. Someone taking what they do in a video game and really going for it in real life. See if those skills truly do transfer! God I can't wait to see more of your IRL racing!
I'd like to draw your attention to DTM then. Tim Heinemann, a 25 year old guy coming from RaceRoom just did a weekend with two second places on his DTM debut!
Honestly, I think you are a natural racer. The aggression you show in the car is A1. I could actually see you doing something in motorsport if you keep at it. Respect and well done
Well he IS doing something in motorsport and has been for a long time actually... This stuff doesn´t exactly come out of nowhere. But I agree that from my viewer perspective it looks like he´s a natural
Brilliant video mate! When you see the whole team at the end standing next to that P1 board, you realise that the driver isn’t just doing this for themselves, they have a whole bunch of hard working guys and girls that they are doing it for 👍
There's clearly still some of that fog effect used on early 3d games, I get that render distance is difficult in vr but come on... Even the skybox gets derendered at some points 9:05 the networking gets a bit strange at times
23:35 “OOOHHHHH YYYYEEEEEAAASSSSSS…. HHEEEESSS DDDONNNEEEE IIIIITTTTT!” Amazing job Steve. Been waiting for the video for a minute! Loved every bit of it!
I can know happily say that I was here on this historic day to witness Super GT win his first ever IRL race. Can't wait to see his first video in either group 4 or 3 cars
HE'S DONE IT! Great race, really good awareness and good mentality to come back from the incident in qualifying and gain confidence and trust in the car.
thoroughly enjoyed this look into racing, especially because it's not glossy, overproduced or misleading. It's easy to see the passion of everyone involved and the skill it takes to be competitive. thanks for this Super GT and cheers on the win!
Seeing you driving on track inspired me to do the same, so a month ago I went to my first track day - with the family wagon. Had the best time ever so I went and bought a ‘97 Porsche Boxster, and I’m having so much fun with it on track. It makes me so happy. Thanks Super GT for the inspiration! And Godspeed Scott Speed!
I actually cheered out loud when you said you'd won. Amazing step-up, Steve, and all the digital racing paying big dividends. VERY satisfying to watch through the last few years to this point.
Never comment on videos or anything, but been following you for about a year now and just want to say it's absolutely amazing that you finished first, an accomplishment you can be proud of for the rest of your life, Congrats brother!
The commentary adds so much, I was trying to watch some real life, PoV races on youtube but all I found was raw, uncut, no commentary stuff and I am sure there's an audience for that as well, but for me it was like... watch one lap and then I am out. Where as here I could watch 8 hours of this. Big congratulation on the win, hope to see more in the future.
A+ driving from a simtuber is the kinda stuff i love to see. Way to go man! Looking forward to seeing you grow on the real tracks and see what classes open up for you with the clear passion, skill, and determination youve got. Plus the social media presence helps :)
I think the reason why we are here even though not a GT content is how you comment on your own race. so much fun in it. Well deserved for the 1st position!
That race 1 was awesome, love how you weren't shy about putting in the overtakes despite being there to get your signatures. Also I'm glad they still gave you a signature for race 2 despite contact with that car that spun.
Excellent. What a great story. Thanks for the in depth commentary keeping us all up to date on what was going on. I had a feeling you had taken it, but so hard to be sure. That was great to watch, thanks
This is a very good story. Trust me. I had this once. A million years ago, I was autocrossing a 1989 CRX Si in SCCA events. I should mention that I worked at a Honda dealership, and had as demos a series of CRX Si's. Sticker in the window and dealer tags. I was new but in a points chase. So when I saw a flyer for a local Corvette Club holding a non-SCCA autocross, but claiming to be following their rules and classifications, it seemed like a good chance to practice. I show up and I quickly notice no imports. Like, I saw none. I go to sign up for D-Stock (CRX, GTi, etc). None. How about E-stock (Mr-2, Fiero, etc) None. So I have to sign up for F-Stock (Mustangs, Camaros, etc). And their "stock" included massive rubber and wheels, open headers, anything. "I have no chance.." I said. Until I took the track walk. Hmm.. The course was in some of the parking and the staging area of a drag strip. And half the drag strip to a cone you pivoted around. The section leading onto the dragstrip had a section designed to bust everyone down to almost walking speed to keep speed down on the dragstrip. But it was set up for very wide cars with even wider rubber. I was pretty sure that I could JUST thread the needle flat IF I pitched it at the end and caught the drift just at track's edge. Or spin off and eat guardrail. Hmm. If I do this, where will I brake down from mach 1.2 to the cone? Dragstrip was featureless. I used to carry a white shoe-polish stick with me to mark sidewalls for pressure adjustments. So I made a series of small hash marks in white on the far side. I decided this was "stock." So, it takes me a few tries, but I finally stick the section, vibrate a cone at the exit, carry massive speed through there compared to anything else. Braked a little early for the crazy speed difference, and just finished tidy. I was alone, and pitted in the boonies. I couldn't hear the loudspeakers. I changed rubber, gathered my kit, and went to the trophy presentation. They get to F-Stock, and they announce everyone from position 32. The car, the year, the driver, any sponsors. Takes a long time. I knew I did well, so I didn't focus in until 10th place. Got nervous by 5th place. By third place I figured they screwed me. "And in first place, some dude in a Japanese rollerskate with a dealer tag" and then the guy walked off-stage. Walked up, grabbed the trophy and said "Thank You" loudly. Gracious, the crowd was not. To say the least. I will mention that I am 6'2" 240 and wrestled in college. I only mention it because I think it mattered just then. So, driving out in my stock as stock can be CRX, between the rows of Mustangs and Camaros with side-pipes and rubber four inches beyond the bodywork, I made sure to hold the 1st place trophy out of the sunroof. Pure Gold.
Great to see you joining us in the mx5’s 🤙 FYI, difference in engine power is down to the team/driver developing the car not the class you’re in as the car technical regs are identical, silverstone is the track you’ll see it the most with those long straights! Tyres are more important in these cars than +\- 5bhp 👍 hope to see you again this year
Congratulations! Its so amazing to see you find your corner of success over these last few years. You are doing great things and I look forward to keeping up with your future escapades.
Congratulations! That looked like so much fun and you can easily notice the confidence rise with each lap / race! Very well done and congrats again on the P1 :D
Bravo! Great runs Steve, well done...& congratulations on the win! Thought about getting into MX5 racing myself, it is so popular. Look forward to more racing content, keep us updated.
Amazing content. Thanks Steve! Congratulations on a brilliant composed performance. Loved watching the video, even when the two cameras were out of sync for the last race!
Just such good racing content!! I watch a ton of motorsports, and I love all your GT videos. They are more entertaining than a lot or real motorsport! Your super calm commentary versus your knife edge driving is excellent. We get to see 2 extremes of your personality...and everything else in between. Thanks.
Congrats on getting these opportunities to get a real drive and signatures for that license. Might be cool if you did a video in the future on the process you’ve gone through to secure your seats in these races with these teams for the aspiring drivers out there. Keep up the fine work!
What a fantastic result! Your race craft is second to none and it paid off well here to day in all your races. The win was certainly the icing on the cake! Well deserved and well done!
If they add Silverstone to GT7 (which they should) they should make this daily race a or b in the Mazda touring car. It’s such a fun car to drive and I would love to do this race in GT7
Ive never driven the MX5 on real track, but it's my favorite drive on iRacing. If you can extract speed from the MX5 you can drive anything fast. It's quite unforgiving at times. It doesn't have much power so I found the secret was to carry as much speed as I can in the corners. Keep the momentum up in that car and you can take time off laps quickly. 1600-2200 irating MX5 on say Okayama Full is as competitive a race as you could ever ask for. Love it. Congratulations! I've been watching your videos for a few years now, and im happy to see you have a feel-good moment at a professional level. Even if it is to upgrade your license.
Congratulations on a great weekend of Racing and your first real life win! You drove very well in a car that seemed slightly over-steery. Some fantastic moves and an unstoppable momentum forwards. At 11m 49s you were Sir Lewis Hamilton on Verstappen into Copse. One correction; the Supercup and clubman classes run an identical spec car. Looking forwards to the next stage of the adventure that your international C license opens the door for. Trivia for your fans: Martin Plowman who strapped you in on the dummy grid was the winner of Le Mans in LMP2 in 2013 and LMP2 WEC World Champion.
