I've been racing with Mike this year in the GRDC and this has brought back so many incredible memories! If your wanting to continue this series i'd love to get involved.... (Glad my celebratory pool dive made it in!)
This has been a lot of fun to watch! I've yet to do any car racing myself, but I've done 3 amateur indoor karting championship seasons and 9 track days over the years; I'm mentally mashing the two together and really enjoying Mike's experience. That said, I would really advise people like Mike who are looking to start racing: just start in a go kart. It's WAY more affordable, and it's a very, very educational way to start. Mike would've had a much more competitive Ginetta season with even a single rental karting championship under his belt, IMO. I remember learning about determination and feeling entitled to push and succeed, reining in overdriving, handling coming back from penalties while keeping your cool, and mentally practicing your focus and attention while behind the wheel. I learned so much in go karts, not just about racing and driving, but about life, honestly.
Great documentation of getting into the start of racing , well filmed , with Mike coming across as a nice guy , with a passion , look forward to his ,I'm sure continued journey. 🇬🇧
This was a great series, even for a non-gearhead like me. I hope you guys keep it going during the next racing season. Also funny to see coworkers Jane and Luke in there...
Of course it is possible to race for a lot lot less especially in the UK, look at the BMW Compact cup for example. You could buy the car, convert it, pay for all the races and it'd cost you £3k-5k, TinTops is potentially even cheaper, But as far as im aware the BMW Compact cup is the cheapest single make championship.
@@themightydash1714 You mean 30k to 40k? I googled ginetta grdc, first result brings you to a page with a 36k pounds + taxes for the car and championship.
Very well put guys. Glad you touched on how motorsport really gets under your skin and becomes almost a part of life. Can't wait for it all to start again, the winter is a welcome break but already sucks!
Very entertaining and honestly some amazing driving. No wonder you were always such a race game specialist ;) Really nice to see: keep it up, keep living the good life, I loved everything about this. Good on you chum, well done.
Was looking to get in to the GRDC this in 2020 but Covid-19 put the brakes on that. Still looking at 2021 and these videos have only deepened my enthusiasm for it. Great videos and really really interesting to watch...nice work chaps.
I must say im impressed. So today i have been gathering some information about racing and how to join the racing world and i swear that this stroy felt like im the one who was trying so hard to drive this car, now im feeling confident about my racing career, i feel like im going to be really good in racing i sure hope so, but now i need to finish my exams and then i will do my best try to join the racing world because that's my dream i want to make it come true, i don't like studying and i don't feel like im going to succee in it.
Great series really insightful but was a bit scant on details, like COST as this would be the main thing to point out. Perhaps you weren't allowed to quote costs but knowing, what he spent, car, insurance, parts and repairs and then where he finished, what the car would be worth afterwards etc would have really taken this up a level.
Awesome series. I can relate verry much as i build a racecar last year, did 1 test race, and will start my 1st full race season next April. The race series i am in its the dutch 206GTI cup, wich will cost around 5-7k €/year. Good luck this year Mike,
Here in the States, there’s organizations which specialize in entry level “crap-can” Racing. From The 24 Hours of LeMons 🍋 to Lucky Dog Racing League to World Racing League there are vast opportunities for an aspiring racer without necessarily breaking the bank. Not sure if the UK has that but if so it would be far cheaper to do this than the semi-pro series like the GRDC or G40 Cup.
This car is at least 10s faster on a 4km+ track than a similar weight/power ratio car with semislicks and lsd diff in Assetto Corsa, I imagine it doing the same in real life. It trail brakes very well like a porsche gt3
It is odd driving around the Ring and notice people watching, spectators. Not being a car guy. and I spent too much money for a Track day at Spa. I never figured out the big down hill left hander. Always too slow around that one. Rouge was easy to figure out. Clear points for turn in. The wide open turns are harder for me. get lost in the turn. "08.08.19 Spin" I have had coaches but never raced.
I’m glad he enjoyed himself, but the whole ‘buy a car for one series’ thing bothers me. He now owns a car of dubious value, and there doesn’t seem to be anywhere to race it. Do those cars fit into any other category once they’ve done the series? Personally I’d go with a driving school or two and then the purchase of a car for a starter formula or saloon car series. If you like it, stick with it, or sell the equipment and move up the food chain. Shooting your financial bolt for this series seems to leave you with memories, but it just might not completely satisfy the itch.

Luke and Jane hanging out with Mike on the track was a nice shot! Great series pls make more of this sort!
Luke and Jane spotted at 0:34
YESS i saw them and kinda forgot for a second that they actually exsist outside of OX
It was so wholesome to see them there supporting Mike!
Thank you it has been great watching Mikes journey and seeing him improve both his racing skills and confidence in front of the camera.

It was great to watch Mike as he went on this journey. I hope he manages to get back to racing. Thanks Carfection for this series.
Probably the best and most inspirational mini series. Absolutely loved it. Hope for more
Great documentation of getting into the start of racing , well filmed , with Mike coming across as a nice guy , with a passion , look forward to his ,I'm sure continued journey. 🇬🇧
Thanks for putting together this series of videos. It was fun to ride along with Mike as he did something many of us would like to do someday.
I have loved this series!! I just started rallying and a lot of similar challenges and emotions.
Keep it up. I keep watching the stories of people getting into motorsports and want to do it too
This was a great series, even for a non-gearhead like me. I hope you guys keep it going during the next racing season.
Also funny to see coworkers Jane and Luke in there...
So, where did he place in the championship?
9th
Out of how many?
16
That's not bad.
In my program it said it's a series and there are no championship points being scored
Really enjoyed this series, respect to all the drivers for doing something that they love and having fun whilst doing it :)
I’ve really enjoyed this series of videos. Best of luck to Mike in whatever racing he does next and thanks for sharing his experiences.
At the end, what is the total cost of your season ?

All the spin outs would have made me nervous as hell.

Great series! Hope you get to do more racing, you seem to love it! Thanks!
Thank you Mike for showing us it is possible!
Well done mate - great to follow you from the start to finish - WISH FULFILLMENT- 💯 percent
Always great and contagious to see someone leaving his dream👍✨👏✨
Why it is not possible to go this series twice?
wow this was incredibly useful and entertaining thank you. i hope mike is still racing to this day
Great story! More!!!

see comment of
Christopher Salkeld: "Pending how each driver did it between £20k-£40k+. I did arrive and drive and spent just below £23k".
I was watching this whole race weekend
Like many have said, “more of this.” A follow up would be great
great serie
thanks for sharing and doing what many of us dream
however main question here: what did all this cost ?
Very enjoyable series

i hope they do more this is the only good thing on this channel
Great fun. I drove a Ferrari 360 around Silverstone before. I want to drive a F1 car yet maybe Dubai. Big thumbs up.
Great series! I'm glad he finished! I would probably kiss a wall much more often x)

I don’t think I’d be looking to try something else till I’d felt I’d been some what competitive at the bottom wrung.
GREAT series.......but where did he come overall ?

Brilliant series
1:20 perfection👌
I wish this had more episodes!
Looks like so much fun. Now all I need is a sponsor. :-)
why won't he race next season?
@carfection whatever happen to the bmw videos of the M3 generation y'all was going to do ...... We are waiting ???? thanks

What was the Total cost for the season?
Would be interesting for someone to do the same here in the states
Dude i m just crazy when it comes to racing can you guys pls tell me if there are any requirements of joining a racing club
What's Mike doing now?
I missed something, why is this the last time he can race..? He bought the car, right?
How is this the first I'm hearing about this series?
Braeden Hamson because the times between episodes are soooo long.
Anyone wanting an affordable racing series look into the BMW compact cup.
ok, i need to start racing.
Keep doing it
keep going!
Why would you even say your happy to Finnish in 7th under safety car? Surly you’d want more time to attack?
I'm number 28 aswell.
I’m glad he enjoyed himself, but the whole ‘buy a car for one series’ thing bothers me.

That poetic voiceover with cheesy words ruined it.
