I just got a beautiful 2018 mt07. After a number of bigger and higher performance bikes I just love the simplicity, low weight and fun factor of the 07. It also feels more retro than modern retro bikes because it’s raw and doesn’t have loads of electronic aids. Cheers for the videos CC, ride safe Brother 🙌
Between these two bikes I'd choose the MT07 but my heart and brain are with those who long for a MT07 SP (MTR7). Add the R7's better brakes + the other upgrades mentioned and I'd happily pay the the R7's retail minus some for the fairings. Fixing the MT07 up would cost as much or more than just getting the standard MT09 (standards components are roughly equivalent to R7 upgrades) but I want a 270° P-twin so likely Yamaha is going to lose me as a customer to Honda(Hornet), Suzuki (GSX 8S), or KTM (Duke 790).
Yeah I don't understand why Yamaha won't make a MT07SP. However, I'm content with my MT-07 as it is with my mods but it should come with fully adjustable suspension.
For me the MT07 is by far the better variant of the CP2. It's my opinion, but it's just too much fun. Even though I have a MT09 SP. I still miss my MT07. It is the ultimate hooligan bike that's not a supermoto.
I love this lil bike, that exhaust sound track sounds so good. The MT-09 with an Akra sounds good too but the CP2 with an akra has the edge. You can't go wrong with any of the MT bikes, they are all great street bikes. Supermoto is #1 tho!
Love the R7 but went with the MT-07 as the insurance here in Canada restricts "sport bikes" same engine but literally because of the fairings it's double in insurance if not more...
I would choose the yamaha yz250 which is 214 pounds dry and 50.5 horsepower for the dirt. The 450 4 stroke has a little more hp 57 but heavier but ok too. Once you start making jumps and wheelies too you'll have a great time. GO Cycle Cruza !
My catless M4 on my GSXR sounds sic. throws big fire. 😁Like your channel, but you will never convince me that my Gixxer was a bad choice. Been riding for a long time. I am 48.
Gixxers are nice, no hate. I nearly bought one back in the day but I went with the cbr600rr at the time. However, you no longer have to ride track bikes on the street with all of the cool naked bikes they have now that are better tuned with low end grunt for the street and no fairings to deal with. MT-07 easily. Although making the r7 a naked bike with bars on it might be the move just because of the better front end and suspension…until they release a mt07 Sp at least. (It’s always a good day when I get my comment in before cruza’s pinned comment)
The R7 is designed to excel at the track (and riding twisties). The MT-07 is designed more for urban city street riding which most riders do the majority of the time. So many people get caught in the looks of a bike but it really comes down to how it rides on the street, you'll be more comfortable on the naked bikes.
I thought the t7 would out accelerate the mt07 because it has slightly shorter gearing. But my cousin has a 2022 t7 and I have a 2022 mt07 and my bike is quicker and has more top end. And I weigh about 35 pounds more than him. Odd.

I love all three but hate fairing which takes out the R7, I love the MT 07 but now in my old age I am drawn to the retro look so for me it's the XSR 700

Thanks for viewing and sharing your thoughts. The ADV bikes are great for cruising and touring, my only issue is with them marketing them as "Adventure" bikes when they should really be marketed as touring or cruising bikes. The weight is only a concern if you start riding them off-road. Thanks for the video suggestion, I'm working on other types of videos like you mentioned. The R7 is a cool looking bike, I love the mt-07 looks as well but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. When you throw a leg over a bike the looks don't matter anymore but the ride quality does and you'll be much more comfortable on the MT-07 and enjoy it more. Riding around the street on a track bike can get tiresome after long rides because of the aggressive riding position.
@@CycleCruza I agree with you. The MT07 will most likely be my next bike coming from a Ninja 400. The increased torque will be awesome to have. It’s about time for me to upgrade. I’ve had my Ninja 400 for 3 years now. I don’t see a need for an inline 4 engine on the streets. The roads I ride on are 25mph-55mph anyways. It does matter what you ride in michigan because I went to a charity biker party on a metric bike and was told I couldn't park it on the event grounds because Harley riders wouldn't like it.
Yeah it looks odd, I actually like my 22' screen better. It looks like they just slapped a TFT display on the new 2023 MT-07 without a thought about the looks of it.
You keep mentioning the track you should head out there you have a good time. It's really not much different than street writing if you're not good enough to be doing the crazy stuff on the track you don't have to but you can work your way up.
If you're going to buy a sports bike,why wouldnt you get the r1?on the r7 you'll just spend your time waiting to get buzzed by big brother!personally i'll stick to my superduke r,which has supermoto mode if you want fruity!
shouldn't I think but you can also I think like just need to keep it slow I believe idk ,,, but yeah you can but do it slow you know that's what I've learnt from these videos and it's basic instinct you know slow and steady day by day or month by month you do it better 💖
Not as a first bike, it is much too powerful for a new rider. Start small and work your way up, you'll be a better rider for it and also it is great to experience all different bikes but from my experience after owning 12 bikes of all sizes, the small bikes are more fun for city riding, you can utilize more of its power and throw them around more. Riding a fast bike slow around town is a bit lame and if you light up the streets speeding you can end up in jail or dead. Fast bikes like the R6 supersport and superbikes are best enjoyed at the track where you go as fast as you want and really enjoy the bike more.

R7 has better (old R6) upside down forks and front suspension, plus stiffer frame. The R7 has a gazillion of GYTR factory tuning parts. I refused to buy the MT-07 with the almost 10 year old, crappy suspension (yes, it's laughable crap). I refused to buy the R7 because it's overpriced and you get basically nothing in return, not even an autoblipper QS in 2023. My Husky 701 Supermoto is easily a better street bike and a better track bike as well.
The R7 front fork is a bit more rigid, which is great for the track but you'll feel bumps a bit more on the R7 compared to the MT-07. The MT-07 suspension fine for me and my weight but maybe it could an issue if you're heavier, idk. Supermoto is #1 most fun you can have on a motorcycle but it is nice having different types of bikes to mix it up. I got the MT-07 for chilling on the city streets and rip it here and there. The MT-07/R7 CP2 engine sound with an Akra exhaust sounds so awesome, I just love listening to this bike.

Bruh you crack me up with the Harley shit it sounds nothing like it. No more than a v8 bmw sounds like a lobey classic American v8. It sounds as close as you’ll get with a parallel twin though I’ll give you that
I put a clip of a Harley rev in this video to compare it to the MT-07, they sound similar, but not exact, the Harley has a little bit more raspier tone. I just love the CP2 sound, I rev bomb this bike eberywhere like all these Harley riders do. 🤣 One lady yelled out of a car and said she thought I was her brother on his Harley. lol I was rev bombing it as usual.
@@CycleCruza it sounds as close to a v-twin as a p-twin can for sure…but there’s still a lot missing, especially at idle and lower revs. They’re just not offset enough to be true Harley sound with that potato potato effect

I used to have an MT 07 and now and R7. I feel the R7 handles better and overall build quality has been improved.

Love the R7 but went with the MT-07 as the insurance here in Canada restricts "sport bikes" same engine but literally because of the fairings it's double in insurance if not more...

I would choose the yamaha yz250 which is 214 pounds dry and 50.5 horsepower for the dirt. The 450 4 stroke has a little more hp 57 but heavier but ok too. Once you start making jumps and wheelies too you'll have a great time. GO Cycle Cruza !

Gixxers are nice, no hate. I nearly bought one back in the day but I went with the cbr600rr at the time. However, you no longer have to ride track bikes on the street with all of the cool naked bikes they have now that are better tuned with low end grunt for the street and no fairings to deal with. MT-07 easily. Although making the r7 a naked bike with bars on it might be the move just because of the better front end and suspension…until they release a mt07 Sp at least. (It’s always a good day when I get my comment in before cruza’s pinned comment)
The R7 is designed to excel at the track (and riding twisties). The MT-07 is designed more for urban city street riding which most riders do the majority of the time. So many people get caught in the looks of a bike but it really comes down to how it rides on the street, you'll be more comfortable on the naked bikes.

Hi Have you tried the t7 because it's the same engine and in the t7 it supposedly runs better , and you can ride the t7 very comfortably and off road
I thought the t7 would out accelerate the mt07 because it has slightly shorter gearing. But my cousin has a 2022 t7 and I have a 2022 mt07 and my bike is quicker and has more top end. And I weigh about 35 pounds more than him. Odd.

I love all three but hate fairing which takes out the R7, I love the MT 07 but now in my old age I am drawn to the retro look so for me it's the XSR 700

Thanks for viewing and sharing your thoughts. The ADV bikes are great for cruising and touring, my only issue is with them marketing them as "Adventure" bikes when they should really be marketed as touring or cruising bikes. The weight is only a concern if you start riding them off-road.

The R7 is a cool looking bike, I love the mt-07 looks as well but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. When you throw a leg over a bike the looks don't matter anymore but the ride quality does and you'll be much more comfortable on the MT-07 and enjoy it more. Riding around the street on a track bike can get tiresome after long rides because of the aggressive riding position.
@@CycleCruza I agree with you. The MT07 will most likely be my next bike coming from a Ninja 400. The increased torque will be awesome to have. It’s about time for me to upgrade. I’ve had my Ninja 400 for 3 years now. I don’t see a need for an inline 4 engine on the streets. The roads I ride on are 25mph-55mph anyways. It does matter what you ride in michigan because I went to a charity biker party on a metric bike and was told I couldn't park it on the event grounds because Harley riders wouldn't like it.

You keep mentioning the track you should head out there you have a good time. It's really not much different than street writing if you're not good enough to be doing the crazy stuff on the track you don't have to but you can work your way up.

Not as a first bike, it is much too powerful for a new rider. Start small and work your way up, you'll be a better rider for it and also it is great to experience all different bikes but from my experience after owning 12 bikes of all sizes, the small bikes are more fun for city riding, you can utilize more of its power and throw them around more. Riding a fast bike slow around town is a bit lame and if you light up the streets speeding you can end up in jail or dead. Fast bikes like the R6 supersport and superbikes are best enjoyed at the track where you go as fast as you want and really enjoy the bike more.

R7 has better (old R6) upside down forks and front suspension, plus stiffer frame. The R7 has a gazillion of GYTR factory tuning parts. I refused to buy the MT-07 with the almost 10 year old, crappy suspension (yes, it's laughable crap). I refused to buy the R7 because it's overpriced and you get basically nothing in return, not even an autoblipper QS in 2023. My Husky 701 Supermoto is easily a better street bike and a better track bike as well.
The R7 front fork is a bit more rigid, which is great for the track but you'll feel bumps a bit more on the R7 compared to the MT-07. The MT-07 suspension fine for me and my weight but maybe it could an issue if you're heavier, idk. Supermoto is #1 most fun you can have on a motorcycle but it is nice having different types of bikes to mix it up. I got the MT-07 for chilling on the city streets and rip it here and there. The MT-07/R7 CP2 engine sound with an Akra exhaust sounds so awesome, I just love listening to this bike.

I put a clip of a Harley rev in this video to compare it to the MT-07, they sound similar, but not exact, the Harley has a little bit more raspier tone. I just love the CP2 sound, I rev bomb this bike eberywhere like all these Harley riders do. 🤣 One lady yelled out of a car and said she thought I was her brother on his Harley. lol I was rev bombing it as usual.
