@Austin John Plays unrelated to the video, but do you know if you KO your box legendary in the initial story encounter on Spear Pillar, go beat the E4, then come back in the post game when Dawn tells you it's respawned, is the legendary still able to be shiny hunted, or is it just a clone of the one you KO'd?

I love that you dont have to actually catch every single pokemon to complete the pokedex, it makes everything so much easier. I literally went through the entire story without worrying about catching any pokemon for my dex and just focused on training my team, and by the time I beat Cynthia I only needed 4 pokemon to complete my sinnoh dex. As of now I only need one, its a burmy, and im watching this video to kill some time while I wait for honey trees.
There's a Bug Catcher in Eterna Forest named Donald that has one!
Still have to catch it for the shiny charm, tho.

I found a carnivine in the great marsh after searching for so long and this was also before I knew you just had to see them. I didn't get the catch and it ran and I was so sad but my heart jumped learning I just needed to see it
Speaking of the Ghost-type gym, I loved how one of the trainers comments on you purposely getting the questions wrong so you can fight all the trainers. Nice fourth wall break right there!
Yeah, until that it kinda bothered me that the kids in the gym might think I'm too stupid to calculate correctly 😂
A good tip for people that are breeding!
When collecting your eggs from the nursery man, if you talk to him so he turns to look at you, you then will be able to know when the egg is ready as he will turn and face his original position. Like the breeder in SwSh when she changes animation to indicate the egg is ready to be collected but this one is less obvious :)
For anyone who sees this: I wish you all my extra shiny luck as I managed to get 5 shiny ralts off of one chain. Good luck hunting!

My first encounter in eterna forest was a shiny Budew with great nature and stats also. Currently hunting for shiny Dialga, so I hope the luck holds on!

Pro tip for frienship evolutions. If you're having fun in the Grand Underground, put a soothe bell on one of your friendship mons. I had my Crobat after having a Golbat for 2 levels. Put those steps to work for you.

"A pokemon that there is a very good chance you have not encountered is a Wooper," Not only did I encounter a Wooper during my one mandatory trip into the Great Marsh to get Defog, but I encountered a random full odds shiny Wooper.

I haven’t even progressed past picking a starter (trying to patiently get a shiny but my patience is running out) but I love watching all of these. It makes me realize I’ve got a LOT of work to do.

Sinnoh pokedex is pretty easy to complete. My one tip would just be to fight every trainer before postgame, as well as getting the riolu egg from Riley on Iron Island, encountering the friday drifloon and visiting the solaceon ruins to see an unown.

You dont have to go to Iron Island,there is an NPC that has Riolu in one of the caves. I have national dex and never been to Iron Island

Hey Austin I found something useful, you can save before you encounter Mesprit on any route (when it’s on the same route as you) and if you don’t catch it with a quick ball you can reset it and it’ll still be on the same route when you reload the save file 🤟
Catching misprit is easy. Send out a gengar with mean look and your good to go

Hor happiny and clefa an even easier way of getting both is a trainer that has both, she's right outside the cafe on route 210 where you can get moomoo milk
I'm surprised that he hadn't seen a magikarp, considering like 70% of the fisherman trainers have at least one or more.
He did say he skipped as many trainers as possible. He basically made the senerior relatable as if you forgot a trainer it two.
Just played thru the game. After fighting every Trainer on each route, catching the spirits before the E4, Cynthia’s Milotic completed my dex. I don’t feel like I “tried” to complete it, it just happened naturally.

Hey Austin! Might be a good video to highlight everything you can do in postgame. Giratina, gym leaders, underground grinds. A couple other things I found out even as a semi experienced player
I didn’t know about Wooper being at Route 212, but I did encounter one or two in the “Safari Park”
Also, love your content. I watch your BDSP videos all the time. Spoilers or no, I watch them over and over again.

I remember back in the day in diamond and pearl even platinum you had to catch all 150 to get the national DeX. I had 900+ hrs on all the games back then.
I have a theory I'm really confident about for mysterious shards. When you first enter the undergound i think the spawn rate on those shards are higher. I have left and entered and just farmed the walls nearest me 4 times in a row and gotten one every time.
Wait what are the shards for?

Still tho I avoided a lot of trainers to try not not be as overleveled and I completed 94% of my Pokédex its really easy to complete the regional dex in this game since you don’t have to catch the Pokémon
I just beat the game, with 138 and that's fighting trainers
Was only missing tentacool, riolu and the legends
Shiny luck to all! Today has been my week, full odds shiny stunky and then a shiny drifloon hatched in my 3rd eggs, no shiny charm, no masuda method. I'm buzzing haha.
I just want Austin John Plays to know that I really appreciate the massive amount of work and time he puts into these videos for us every time a new game comes out.
You can get Drifloon by turning the clock back to Friday the 19th, too instead of forward to Thursday right before midnight. And Thank Arceus you can do this ‘cause I forgot you had to see Drifloon by purposefully answering Fantina’s questions wrong otherwise. Now I can get my Eevee and Latias (though she’ll take a while longer.)
Thank you for saying this, I set my time forward and was having no luck spawning him then I set it back, flew into the town, walked into the wind works, back out and he was there, the Pokédex is now complete :)
Yeah I forgot about fantina fail and just went through and thought oh no. I set my date forward and prayed it would work and thankfully it did
Don't know if its been mentioned yet, but there's a trainer in Eterna Forest that has a burmy. Only figured it out cause another video showed it.

On the way to the electric gym a fisher man has a finneon. It's super easy to complete the dex with seeing everything. Everything is on a trainer. I caught only two things. A carnavine, and two woopers. Everything is there for you if you fight EVERY trainer.
A trainer in Victory Road has Carnavine.
@@JJKSauce I know but I caught one in the marsh. Like I said, if you go hell bent on defeating every trainer in the game like I did, you will complete the dex. Literally the only pokemon you need to seek are the legendaries and your starter pokemon. Everything else can be found via trainer battle. No joke.
For riolu, there is one trainer in the cave that leads to the 1st gym. You need rock smash and surf for this.

I don't know if this is well known but if you're just looking to add the burmy to the pokedex without catching it and avoiding the honey trees. There's a trainer on Eterna Forest who has the burmy.

If you don't feel like messing with the clock for Drifloon for whatever reason, the trainer with Drifloon is in the 2nd area/question in the far right door. The sign will say '50 ->'

The closest I came to completing the pokedex was playing ▶️ Pokemon ruby and emerald I had a next door neighbor. Who had a similar game and we traded .

That time trick with Drifloon has helped me immensely, I heard somewhere on UA-cam that I had to actually wait because if I time skipped the game would give me a 24 hour penalty of in game events and it wouldn’t even work for drifloon but.. alas, it did!

You can also find Quagsire in the Grand Underground very commonly in the Fountainspring Cave after getting Defog and in the Safari Zone.
In fact I caught a Quaqsire in the Grand Underground.

Whoever coded, then whoever approved, the Pokédex default sprite “angles” should be fired.
You catch the Pokémon, or it evolves, it’s perfectly aligned. Then the Pokédex opens and it’s angled at a 35* degree angle to the top left corner.

@@phil2160 You genuinely think that the model looking up into the a random corner. Or being slightly off set. Some are even rotated. Meaning you see more of their under half or top half. Rather than a uniformed isometric angle that literally any and all icons/profiles utilize.
Can’t even fathom thinking that it “looked good”. This isn’t even a diss on the game, or being nit picky. It’s objectively a major flaw.

I have to say this game did finneon and lumineon justice they look so pretty and the glow is so good it’s a shame I didn’t know they did that because I would’ve used one on my team but gastrodon is prob better.

You can actually get riolu in your seen Pokédex as early as you obtain surf. Go to the bottom chamber of the cave west of the rock gym’s alloted City, surf to the far left, and the veteran trainer you find there leads the battle off with riolu.
I ALWAYS forget to fight the drifloon trainer in Hearthome gym. Welp I hope I remember to visit valley windworks this friday because that's the only one I need.
Actually managed to find drifloon because of you. Heard the only way to get it was to mess up in the ghost gym. Thanks man!

Riolu is used by the trainer at the bottom floor of oreburgh gate, you can battle him once you get surf, there's also breeders on route 210 (South) who use a range of baby pokemon, including happiny and cleffa
I swear, the exact moment you talked about the only enemy Driftloon in the game, I fought exactly this one trainer and his Driftloon in the gym.

Enough people left comments asking "Where's Prinplup?" There's a Trainer at Route 212 near the Trophy Garden (Pokémon Ranger Jeffrey). Battle him, and you're good to go. Speaking of the Trophy Garden, you'll want to go there if you're looking for Pichu (I had to look it up because I never bothered going there). There are trainers you can battle that have Pichu on their teams, but catching one is better than trying to find a trainer who has one.
The 8:00 AM Cleffa did'nt work for me to get Cleffa,but worked for me to get Drifloon XD
It's incredible than i got a cleffa first try in mount coronet and i didn't know it was 5%chance in night time!( i encounter it in night time first try !)
I'm waiting until Friday to get the Drifloon, then I can finally start the post-game. But I have caught 113 Pokemon in the region already))))
I'm just grinding the elite four to get my moms at a high level before getting the national dex. I highly suggest people do this if they want level 100 mons because after you get the national dex, the elite four will get a lot stronger.
