  • In this video I am taking a look at a recent eBay purchase. Seeing exactly what I have got and giving it a clean. I am also taking a new approach to my videos after taking a year off of making them so the video is a little bit random.
    The components consist of:
    PCChips M530 motherboard
    S3 Trio64V+ with 2mb memory.
    Yamaha YMF ISA soundcard.
    Thanks for watching!

I had probably a half dozen customers I built cheap PC's using that exact board. Their reliability was either dire (failed in 6 months) or rock solid. I actually kep a stack of them so I could replace them quickly when they failed. It looks like you got one of the reliable ones. It's funny, machines like this were completely obsolete by 1998 and I scrapped dozens if not hundreds of beige boxes, now they're starting to cost actual money again in some cases. I guess it all depends on where it falls on the desirability/scarceness curve

Even just the beige cases are beginning to cost a fair bit

Nice system, glad to see the shipping damage you showed us at Twitter wasn't all that big, I'm quite puzzled by that heatsink retention mechanism thing, some sort of thick steel wire?
