Big changes to armor just dropped ! Check out the patch notes here! store.steampowered.com/news/app/892970/view/4199120329649538868
To bad we can't make a upgraded serpant shield with the ceramic plates
I would like that. Its weird that the bone serpent doesn't drop scales too
Bro imagine theres a crazy sea god set when you get a bunch of fish, serpent, and bonemaw items. Omfg if they dont add that I'm gonna be so sad
@@twocheezitz9182 that ssick!
Feathers are flammable. Combine forsaken power that has the wind at your back with that cape- worthwhile? I tend to go with magic but that refined eityr cost is gonna hurt. Really hope we have more sources of soft tissue.
Moders power DOESN"T work with the cape. Surprising. Seems like a mistake and am kinda hoping it gets changed!
@@SpazzyjonesGaming well crap- probably overpowered combo
@@sertandoom4693 you can find more soft tissue in the caves in ashland around 20-30 in the piles of goo looking things
Surprisingly few enemies use fire damage, so the nerf to the Feather Cape doesn't impact you too much in the Ashlands. Plus it can just be cancelled out with a fire resist mead.
Saying that, it's incredibly useful for anyone wanting to be a mage in the Ashlands. The bonus armor of the Ashen means nothing to a mage with a bubble, and the run speed is situational in combat. Jumping over enemy attacks is just a better way to dodge than running away, imo. Especially since running full sprint is the last thing you want to do in the Ashlands (especially as a mage).
I agree. my experience in the ashlands is that the feather cape nerf doesn't matter too much. In fact, now that it gives extra jump height and reduced stamina usage I actually think its a net buff
Ask set has a complete set bonus (you must wear all 3 pieces): -10% stamina cost for run/jump, -20% stamina cost for attacking, and +10% pierce damage (which is useless, as pierce is pretty terrible all around, but particularly bad in Ashlands). That being said: defense is king in the Ashlands, where you will regularly have 5+ enemies attacking you simultaneously. So if you are even thinking about attempting melee combat, flametal armor is the way to go.
you're correct. i made the video in the public test branch before they added the set bonus. Ask is so much better now
@@SpazzyjonesGaming I still think the heavy set is superior, as Ashlands is punishing AF.
I'm really enjoying magic in this patch, not only as a support in group but also for solo play. New set looks so much cooler than the old one.
Nice! Yeah the embla looks awesome. A lot like my fav set in the fenris! What staves are you rocking? I really like the trollstav but i think you definitely need to bring the ice/embers/protection staves from the mistlands to truly excel in the ash
@@SpazzyjonesGaming From Mistlands, all Fire for bigger aoe groups, Frost is great against single targets, like Morgens and Valks. Bubble buff is also amazing. From the new staves Troll seems great and the Dundr Thunder shotgun :)
I have flametal from per-ashlands realease. It used to look way cooler. I’ll check if its still on the server because it was an old save.
It did look cooler. The old version of it can't be used in the new recipes. You will have to mine it again unfortunately
i disagree, the blue and red tinge to the new flametal makes it seem like it's an ingot of exotic steel which us mortal norsemen can only fathom even existed. all of the base flametal weapons have a really nice gritty look to them. if they were the glowing yellow ancient metal they'd lose that grunge and it'd just be carrying around long bright yellow glowsticks. not to mention that you can't really visually design the glowing yellow flametal with the gem enchantments system, it only makes sense that it's a neutral tone metal that then gets enchanted into glowing red, blue, green magic.
I feel like it was a missed opportunity not to make the utility armor give you a carrying bonus. It wouldn't be disruptive to gameplay in combat but it would give it an obvious lane for mining and other acquisition runs
thats a big complain my a lot of players. EVERYONE is looking for more storage space on your person
Why do you call it utility armor?
@@Jonahhi i's covered in pouches and looks like it was made by carrhardt.
I wish they would add some new early game weapons and armor, too
Sign me up for that!
The Ask set got the bonus. Best armor in the game, all about stamina.
yeah they patched it. I KNEW that had to do something
Making the feather cape very weak to fire makes it a suicide option vs ghalls... but a very necessary peice traversing the mistlands
Yeah. you really need barley wine likely in the mistlands now.
Can’t you just wear the fenris leggings to counteract the flame weakness? I am rocking those, root harnesk, carapace helmet and feather cape in mistlands.
Barley Wine is superior fire protection in any case.
@@groovediggr8777 Fenris armor doesn't give you fire resist unless you are wearing the full set. You can offset your fire weakness into a resistance as long as you have barley wine.
gjall is easy to avoid when it comes to the fire part,. get under his butt and move sideways while shooting arrows, bolts whatever you wanna hit him with in the butt
Did you test the Frost resist on the new Feather cape? Maybe it could just be a description error? If it is intentional, that's kinda sad because it doesn't really make sense to remove it.
It is intentional. The devs did talk about it. They want to make other capes more viable which is my understanding
Frost resist is added back btw, but still very weak to fire.
@@frodo9649 Yeah that plus the ASK armor how has a set bonus. They patched both and i think they were good changes IMO. What do you think?
@@SpazzyjonesGaming Those improvement definitely make sense. The fenris set is still unbeaten in regards to movement, but better armor values and reduced stammina usage of the ask set definitely makes it an worthy upgrade while in the ashlands.
@@frodo9649 agreed
Get this man a Windows license ... :D
I really hope they make the round shield smaller, this thing is like the size of monster truck wheels
it really is obnoxiously large isn't it hahaha
I can still highly recommend a feathercape if you are gooing into ashlands as a mage as it provides a nice boost to mobility with its reduced jump stam cost and not many thing set you on fire in the ashlands
Good to know. Its still a blast to use
valkyries thooooooooooooo
@@bearpowder8807 they will light yo ass up!
@@bearpowder8807 Pop a barley wine if you encounter one they are cheap af
and how about the all times root harnesk? is it still viable against the mobs? would it be good against archers? for example? how about other new mobs?
Its definitely still great against archers but you really have to worry about the weakness to fire in the ashlands. I don't think i would recommend it there
Root harnesk is horrible
@@Th3VirtualGam3r wow! I wouldn't go that far
Don’t bring the root harness to ashlands where the set is weak to fire 🤣🤣
@@devilmaycry2283 Absolutely not! haha
Does the Fire Resist of the Fenris Armor overcome the new fire weakness of the Feather cape?
I believe it cancels each other out yeah. I do recommend having more armor than the fenris though. Its dangerous out there!
@@SpazzyjonesGaming Understandable, but I really want to keep my Feather Cape. I do have a Staff of Protection, and Deadraiser to summon Skeletons to act as decoys.
@@randalldederick the feather cape is the best! I understand. yes good call spawning distractions
Elemental resist effects always override elemental weakness effects. They don't just cancel each other out. So if you wear the fenris armor or use a barley wine or engage yagluth's power while wearing the feather cape, the resist effects from those will override the weakness from the feather cape.
@@JPRussell297 nice that is good to know. likely you can get away with wearing the cape in that case
So, water and lava kill you so quickly that the heat resistance is almost useless? So every armor set basically has no unique features? Even Embla set gives just a bit more armor (whis is ok, mages are supposed to be squishy) and only +15% eitr regen compared to eitr weave set. Man, I'm loving this update, but given its difficulty, half of the equipment is useless or mediocre.
Challenging ≠ unrewarding.
Yeah pretty much man. heat resistance does Not doo much IMO. i think this update you gotta play with friends or its REAL hard.
@@SpazzyjonesGaming I get it, but I expected more creative ways to make new armor rather than using basically the same stats and increase numbers
@@user-yw9on4lc4v thats fair
The embla set was buffed, now it has +130% eitr regen instead of +115%. Or in other words, the chest and leg pieces together have the same +100% as the full set previously, but you can combine it with a heavy helmet for more armor.
@@frodo9649 which now in 95% situations (base Regen + rested buff) results in 10% more Eitr regen (instead of 5% before the patch) compared to the Eitr Weave set.
i use to play wow and when i read the stats of a new piece of gear i was like meh... its not gonna make that big of a difference... ON VALHEIM THO U WANNA ALWAYS READ THE FINE PRINT!!!
100% Always!
Nah the mage armors eitr regen isnt as good as it sounds because your base eitr regeneration is 0 so the set gives you slightly higher regen than base stamina with no rested bonus and considering you need eitr to not die in one hit and to attack things the armor needs something better
i mean its objectively better than the Eitr-Weave no?
Your base eitr regen is not zero. If it was, you wouldn't be able to regen eitr without armor or being rested. The armor is still confusing however, since it says it grants 100% increased regen, but this is not true. T0ssACoin did a good video on eitr regen and he concluded that with the full eitr-weave set, you actually only regen ~44% faster than without armor. I don't think that either of these sets need a bonus, just as long as they make the regen rate for both armor sets true to what their description says.
@@alekruberry2939 very good point. Tossacoin does some great vids
is it just me or do the enemies in the ashlands do a stupid amount of dmg?
its a challenging biome for sure
Barley wine = fix
I don't find it very useful in the ashlands sadly
