It ain't an ultra instinct feeling, cause dodges are so broken it's hard not to get a perfect dodge. But yeah most people don't know how broken dodging is.
@@MartialArtsNk yeah, for few ennemis dodge is the only way (exept if you have 80 in blocking skill with the carapace buckler, best shield in the game even in ashlands) and dodge have very huge amount of I-frame so its not that hard
Dodging is useful in certain situations but IMO it just drains your stamina too fast, making you unable to counter attack in many occasions. For me and my game play, blocking is the way to go. Just farm tf out of blocking skills with dozens of skeleton archers you can gather from skeleton spawners (eveil bone piles) in swamp biome, and you can max out blocking in just half an hour. Also parry is OP, if you block right before enemy damages you, it not only staggers the enemy but also takes 2x to 5x more damage while being staggered. @@Sean-pb5cn yeah blocking, specifically parrying, is goated too, but your point on stamina is a bit eh as parrying and rolling take around the same amount of stamina regardless, and good rolling substitutes the advantage of stunning your enemy for the advantages of taking 0 damage and avoiding any status effects (fire, poison, tar) that would otherwise bypass the block
In my experience, the most dangerous enemy in this game is overconfidence. I died so many times because of it. Sure, lets attack these 10 billion dverg mages with stars in a 1 square meter room head on, i have the best gear and food, what's the worst that can happen? That was my biggest death spiral over a 1k+hours in Valheim, let me tell you that.
Goddamn...Thats tough to read Just got into Mistlands and i think i did good to respect those lads. I always try to aggro seekers near outdoor dvergr crates and it works half of the time i would say.
@@christopherbelanger4220 The most important thing is to not let your guard down. I respected them too, but i just got cocky and greedy. Never again. If you want to take a dvergr tower, proceed VEEEERY carefully, deal with them one at the time to the best of your abilities. Bonemass power and fire resistance potion (or Fenris set) will help you tremendously
My biggest mistake in this game is often getting into bad situations, I’m very reckless in games and sometimes it pays off well. Sometimes I get myself in a death spiral against a group of Seekers.
It's easy to do isn't it. Just a bit more. What's over this hill. I am doing well I can scout more. Just big open plains I can see for miles, just be cautious. Suddenly it's night, you're in a swamp being chased by two wraiths and 4 draugrs, you're wet and unrested, run into a plains with a squad of fullings and a couple of deathsquitos and on the other side is another swamp when you meet your demise. Far from a shore. Far from a portal. LOL. Took a while to recover that body. But skirting mobs in the plains and having a basic bow for the few deathsquitos (after the try with finewood bow) made it an adventure. . . 🤣
Running away should be reserved for fights that are absolutely hopeless for you, i.e. getting too close to the plains when in a swamp and getting a stray deathsquito or fuling coming after you when you are in late bronze or early iron gear. Tough but manageable fights you should always stand you ground for, and be prepared for those fights to happen with good foods and having meads as a backup. When you run away from tough but manageable fights, i.e. an abomination in the swamps when you're in bronze or early iron gear, you run the risk of pulling a whole bunch of other mobs on top of you. Now you have the situation where the abomination, a bunch of draugr, oozes, and leeches are all on top of you, and one wrong move leaves you with a corpse surrounded by an army. It's very easy in those panic situations to run into a rock or a tree that you didn't see, or accidentally go into deeper water. Also, you are incredibly likely to run out of stamina and be unable to defend yourself when you do get backed into a corner and have to fight. When encountering a tough monster, and you want to go further, use a bow to bring it to you rather than trying to run past it or fight it wherever it is. This makes it less likely you'll have to deal with wandering mobs at the same time as the tough monster. Preparedness and situational awareness are key. Even if you are in late game gear, don't get complacent and wander through the black forest with no or little foods, as a troll can still take you out if you aren't ready for it. Or a 2 star draugr archer in the swamps, a pack of wolves with a 1 or 2 star alpha in the mountains, a 2 star fuling or a group of growths in the plains, etc. I also don't hang out at base without eating anything. At base, I eat either early game foods I have leftover, or foods that are easily made from entirely farmable crops/meat like bread. That way you aren't caught with your pants down during a raid.
also you can easily dodge big enemies, usually even without sprinting. With trolls you just barely get out of range when you just walk straight away when they attack (with walking Its not consistent because 1) they can have a log and 2) they sometimes also move a bit forward when they attack so they get just enough distance to hit you/they get pushed forward by something else). I use trolls to chop wood I cant obtain / mine copper for me, I just come to them, let them start the attack, sprint away and repeat, I rarely get hit. But it also depends on the terrain, sometimes you cant do stuff like this, then you have to just run away. Best thing to do is walk away, when the troll swings sprint a bit and then again walk, you dont lose much stamina and usually you regain every point (if youre rested/eiktyr).
Almost every death ive experienced in this game that wasnt lag induced was due to over confidence or complacency. Taking it slow, having an escape route at all times, making sure you are properly equipped and stocked on food, and knowing when to turn back will avoid 95% of deaths. The other 5% you just gotta git gud
Overconfidence is the biggest killer for me too as I am a gamer most of my life and a souls veteran and I can beat this game on normal difficulty with almost no damage, but hardest difficulty and mods that make mobs stronger is where I get over confident and say yolo this is easy and then get rekt! 😂😂
I'll add accidents to my list of main death causes. Though I suppose that can be a form of complacency. Not quite judging the reach of the pointy fist golem and getting yeeted off the mountain. Backing into bushes moving away from a Troll. Darn slopes sucking my stamina bar in 1 second flat. Getting dogpiled by greydwarves who hold you in place for big blue and his club. . . LOL. 🤣
My favorite weapon is a knife. There is no movement penalty so it is ready at any moment while running. A bow and knife will defeat almost any enemy. Frostner is another great weapon when you can get it. I'm 82 and a little slow at dodging. Thanks for the video.
I am familiar with each of these strategies. My biggest downfall is not paying attention to my food timers, and not having the right mead's on hand for a given biome. Carelessness will kill you faster than anything else.
A veteran like yourself absolutely would be! totally agree. Many of my deaths are related to impatience in fights when i should just tame my time and recover my stamina and eat some food
If you corpserun from dethskito, you can trow down a fire place if one runs for you and bait them on it so they BURN (large one is more effective). If there is to much high lvl enemys to handle --) RUN FOREST RUN... but in zig zag so you dont get hit by a arrow or fireball. Also higher lvl armor also migrates damage from falling trees and poision. 1.st thing you should unlock is deer pick and dig a trench araund your base (start small for start). You can later expand once you get better tools. Instead of wooden walls, you can make mudwalls next to trench later (you can add wood walls and stone on top of them for decor later) Always carry portal mats when you explore. If you find yourself in nasty situation, place down a portal and run (also.. be sure you have un-named portal in main base for this) It also helps you from moving gathered materials directly into main base and saves boat travel time (wich could end up in seperent attack). Trolls + fire arrows = laugh
Great tips! You're not the first to mention the tree damage not being pure so I believe i have made a mistake with that. The poison/fire is different though I believe. My understanding is that say a blob hits you with a poison attack that deals 20 damage without armor, rather than do 20 dmg right away it does 10 tick of 2. If you then wear iron armor it then may reduce it to 10 damage dealing 1 tick over 10 seconds. But if you take the damage and then retroactively put the armor on, the ticks won't be reduced since the armor wasn't on for the initial hit. Wow! Word vomit there. I hope that makes sense.
Well done video! My tip for survival - the buddy system. I've been seeing mobs prioritize tamed mobs over myself. Having a friend who can't hear a Gjall lead the way also works...
You should just get an irl buddy for that. You know what they say, you don't need to run faster than the wolf, you just need to run faster than your friend.
With a copper knife and good knife skill you can sneak up on a troll and use the special attack (middle mouse button) to do massive amount of damage. Usually over 60% of their hp. Then just keep hitting them and the stagger will interrupt their first attempt to retaliate. Make sure you have 2 of 3 of your food slots with good stamina foods, and give your stam a second to regen after the sneak, and just before striking.
More specific to the combat section of this vid, but one thing a player really needs to learn for better survivability is how it is hard to hit a mob if you are at a different elevation. Gotta love how you cannot hit a wolf who is an inch lower than you, but that wolf can sure take a bite out of you if you are an inch lower than it! Solutions are to reposition, run, or use one of the AOE hammers. Most important though is just learnning how to read what terrain will cause this and what won't. But I certainly die from this "feature" even when aware of it.
I'm still very new so I'm glad to know that prioritizing stamina foods is actually a decent move, I'm learning how to block and dodge in my singleplayer world so my bf will stop telling me how I'm supposed to play lol
Would it make anyone mad to know I've never died to a tree in Valheim? Trees actually tend to fall in the direction you're facing when you cut them, angled trees notwithstanding. This gives you SOME degree of control over where they fall; just stand opposite the direction you want it to go. Assuming the terrain doesn't roll the log, you're usually all set. As for death loops, here's a general point that will save you from lots of ambushes: STOP SPRINTING EVERYWHERE. If you're in hostile territory, slow down and keep your stamina high. The worst ambush happens when your stam bar is empty so let off the gas and walk a bit.
haha yeah. trees are really only a threat when you're just straight up not paying attention. Really good point to save your stamina when you really need it. Underrated tip!
You just having played it enough. 😋 For me I find they don't always go in the opposite direction from the cut, so I try to leave enough stamina for after the final blow doing a little jump into the tree to 'push' it in the direction I want it to fall. Angled trees not withstanding as they often are already falling by that point. So I like to plant my trees where I can cascade them easily and work around the grove pushing towards the centre. Saves some axe work.
@@therealbahamut Sadly - That is not a claim I can make. LOL. It doesn't tend to happen much anymore, but trees have killed me more than some of the bosses.
I had the craziest domino effect happen to me yesterday while chopping down trees. I couldn't even tell you what happened exactly, but a tree got me from a random direction. When I came back to get my stuff I swear at least 20 trees were knocked down from this. Never seen that before.
Spazzy: "I'm talking to you, Viking going into the mountains with troll armor!" Me: *Just finished fighting Moder with a chestplate and no pants. Trying to recover that full troll armor set.*: yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah that tracks.
damage from falling - didn't know it is capped. This type of death is common when fighting stone golems. Need to watch out when facing toward mountain slope, esp when one activates bonemass power and gets too confident.
yeah! as long as you have 100 health you will always survive the fall. Good point about bonemass. I bet many people think bonemass will reduce fall damage but it doesn't!
I remember one situation then I sailed very far and died to deathspuito and I sadly didn't have backup ship to get back there. I rage quited that world lmao
Ohh - I've done that too. . . Worst I had was out sailing to collect ship load of ore. on return decided to go around the back of the Island to chart it and connect on the southern side. Turned out to be a very large continent, found a river but that led to inland sea, got out and further round no end in sight, decided to collect a convenient cloudberry patch. Squito got me. Even with what I had mapped, it would take at least 30 mins of sailing. Once I mined more copper, tin, smelted and built a new boat let alone gear. . . LOL. But that's some of the fun of Valheim. Where what seemed to be a shortcut turns into a nightmare slog that after 1 hour you decide to sail back the way you came because it might be faster than proceeding. Even when I mod - I tend to never use the teleport items to remove the need to sail.
@@sociallyferal4237 Yea, had a similar but not death squito but a troll with a log that came out of no-where (as in not surveying the landing site) and of cause having forgotten to replenish food while sailing. Same thing, no land way to get back and no spare ore to build a boat and worse, lost my only set of troll armor and had to take down eikthier to get new pick axes ;) Took better part of two hours to gather all the resources to get back and fetch my corpse.
While it leads to lots of wasted potion use (in my experience): have healing meads on your hotbar for quick access. Less cheat-y than the logout trick is to go through dungeon entrances or portals while on fire or poisoned (particularly poisoned as it lasts much longer). The countdown continues but the damage ticks don't occur while the transition is happening which means the total damage taken is reduced and you just might live!
You also forgot to include that, for the mistlands gamers, you can lure baddies to them Dverger camps. Wizards and rogues make quick work of most of anything, and can distract any gjall that spotted you earlier. Another tip is taming animals. Having a breeding pen around your base just makes you have tons of allies in the form of wolves and lox so that raids don't outnumber you so easily.
I find trying to move the animals about to get them to the right base is too much of a hassle. Perhaps if they updated so 'follow me' works on portaling. Though perhaps the devs really don't want people to boss fight with their 60+ beastie friends. 😂
@@loffel1700 Yup - I understand your point. I didn't enjoy riding the lox as much. Felt more troubling than just running about to me. It's just the games where you don't have any good spots near mountains for bases and having to harpoon drag or slow follow me paddle to where you do have a base. Once there - a wolf pack is delightful. Just wish that in follow mode and you use a portal, they'd follow through it also.
I once was playing with my friend, farming deathsquito arrows for bonemass. It wasn't that bad, we always left the plains till night. But we found mistlands, and it was tempting. I saw a rabbit and yell out "RABBIT", then nothing stops my friend to run in mistlands for rabbits. Eventually, we found dwarf camp, and he says: "Dude, go outside." But I didn't come in time, and army of enraged dwarves already craved our deaths. That was such a deathloop, i think by the end of it we both lost our sanity. I easily retrieved my items by distracting dwarves with bugs (items were close to camp exit), but my friend died in the end of it. So we tried many tactics, from distracting dwarves with bugs, to leading Loxes to their camp. The best one was him drawing dwarwes one-by-one and me shooting them down, though. After my 13 deaths, and his 53 deaths, we actually cleared out their camp but resources from that blue glowing box (or how you call it) disappeared(
My advice is to move in the borderland between two biomes if possible. When in serious danger you can run into the other biome and the creatures starts to attack each other, and you may escape death. Another tip is to avoid overconfidence and try to run when in serious danger. To play safe (as a coward) usually works.
I am totally new, and even new to gaming! i have learned so much from your videos and am having a great time. i fear i am adddicted to this particular game now. my daughter and son in law joined in and wow thats fun too!!! gaining skills
Surprised you didn't mention the best tips for corpse recovery. Keep extras of your prepared food, or the materials to make it, in addition to any biome-critical resistances like frost resist pots or poison resist, in a chest near your spawn point. Ideally also have a return portal any time you arrive somewhere with your boat, named "BOAT" that you break and take with you when sailing. Lastly, get the rested buff and turn off auto-pickup. Finally, run with a naked inventory. This ensures that you can immediately grab your tomb in one go, and that everything will immediately return to its previous inventory position. The corpse run buff in addition to the stamina+health bonuses from food and regen from rested will make recovering your body quite easy, and a return portal will make it a quick process easily completable within the duration of your food/potions.
Best advice I can give is REMEMBER TO EAT. Check it twice. I did something today that I saw a streamer do twice, that is go into planes without checking my food. I noticed after the first deathsquito stagered me with the black metal shield up followed by a quick death.
Here's the thing with fall damage. I mostly die to it in the Mountains, but not because I don't have enough health. it commonly has terrain notorious for catching you on small spots but don't stop your fall. My group of friends refers to this as 'Bouncing' as you take multiple instances of fall damage at a time, usually a crippling 100 damage and a finishing 50-60.
A well thought through video, not sure there would be much new information for an experienced player, but wish I’d had this as a reference guide when I first started playing Valheim! I hope the algorithm picks it up and rewards you for the significant effort you’ve clearly made in producing this! 👍👍
opportunity + sloth is a killer you find something you want but you're not really prepared for it; you find a Troll, but you don't spend 30secs walking to the other side of it to see 7 Greydwarves with a star'd Shaman with them who are gonna aggro landing your boat 'just anywhere' and then coming back 2 days later and it was destroyed by wandering mobs and the components have disappeared good habits and discipline will save you a lot of resets on your deathless runs
Honestly the best piece of advice I give people is; play it like dark souls. Every. Single. Enemy. Attack. can be rolled and avoided with s. Even the Slimes/Oozer's poison cloud, even Cultists fire beam.
I ALWAYS install the "slope combat fix" mod. It allows you to swing your weapon higher or lower based on the angle you are holding the camera. It's subtle at first, but once you get used to it, it means you no longer have to fight only on flat land, and you'll never want to play valheim without it.
omg there is a mod for that? Awesome. That issue with combat on slopes drives me crazy, especially when using the spear. I cannot understand why the devs never fixed this and instead we need mods for this.
@@MartialArtsNk Depending on your swimming skill - it still might not save you. It didn't me. LOL. Leviathan is vast ocean stretch went under and destroyed my boat while doing so. I did manage to swim to within sight of land which made collecting my stuff easier. Still had to sail to retrieve my cargo of ore though.
I feel like I'm missing something, because with late game armor trees falling on you only do a few points of damage. It seems like armor must mitigate it somehow, and it's not pure.
You're not the first person to mention this so i think you might be correct. I couldn't find anything definitive online but did test lower tier armors and couldn't see any noticable difference in damage. However, like I said, a few people have mentioned as you have
I had to subscribe and like since you called me out on the troll. Armor being in the mountains. LOL. Luckily, I had an upgraded fine bow and fire arrows. And the sense to place down some fires to be able to survive.
Logging out for poison damage: in losing the rested bonus, it is a sacrifice that would only be useful IF you were going to die from the damage. Logging out while exploring just to get rid of damage you can take is a waste. Build a structure, lite a fire and sit of a sec to heal to max.
Oh no! The serpent shield is one of the best shields in the game for that reason. Its still a tower shield though which isn't my fav but thats all you can do!
A tip for getting your stuff back is to eat 2 big stamina foods and one big health food with some stamina, then make the RUN OF YOUR LIFE. GET YOUR STUFF. RUN BACK. Works every time as mobs can't keep up with you running around naked with a TON of stamina. Stamina regen meads also come in clutch, add magic for a protection bubble while you run.
Preparation and planning, never go out half cocked, slow and steady wins the race. Never turn your back on an enemy, you can't block running away. Repair your gear, restock the arrow supply or bombs, have meads and health potions and the gear and weapons for that biome. Upgrade your gear when they become available, learn to perry it's a life saver as well as dodging which I don't do enough of. Lol
Bull$hit, the never turn your back to your enemy part, the rest is good. Blocking takes a lot of stamina, sometimes it's just better to turn your back, run, roll and recover your stamina. Don't forget to sheath your weapon and shield while doing it as they drastically decrease your movement speed. And this is even better if you're wearing light armor which beats heavy armor in most scenarios. Choose when to block and parry, and keep in mind dodging (rolling) is way easier and safer than parrying, parrying is an offensive skill, not defensive.
I am a keen player, very keen. I am just not a good player. Thus, I build, collect (hoard, rather), organize, farm, and decorate our base and only go out killing / progressing when my brother plays with me. He is the muscle and I am the support picking out weaklings from a distance. I am such a pansy and get scared when I see a lox on my own, even after defeating the Queen (with my bro). :') What would I do without my bro. LOL.
The thing that helped me the most to get skills in Valheim was my light armor/unarmed build. (Currently in mistlands) I only use weapons when it makes no sense to go with my fists only. Example are...Some bosses, stone golems, drakes, seeker soldiers, gjall etc. It all started for fun with a personal seed that i used to build creative shits in.😂
I always wanted to avoid dying and then I ended up playing everything as safe as possible, ran away from every slightly tough fight etc. Then I realized Its not fun anymore, I just get stuff around my meadows base, place portals everywhere and avoid every danger. Its not that fun anymore. I die from time to time and usually Its fun, then running for your stuff and having insane experiences, running away from trolls or stone golems :D makes the game a bit more fun. But Im still careful, It can get cruel or annoying when you cant get your stuff and you die everytime you get close to your stuff.
I do have a question I was wondering about Do base structures still prevent enemy spawns when near dungeons and caves? Me and a friend are planning on trying to make a base out of a whole black forest island that happens to have a ton of things like burial chambers and troll caves according to the map on the seed we found
As for your end of vid controversial question: I wouldn't do it because I prefer immersion - and your other advice like just have better food in you (once available) can make your idea moot. But if you really want to do that to clear the status effect, consider that doing your idea ALSO *clears your rested buff*. I don't think that trade-off is worth it.
@@SpazzyjonesGaming absolutely, its a big food and time saver, eat food to prep for aboss and drink a potion, wait for it to heal to its fullest and logout then drink another to get full hp without having to wait the 2 minute cooldown. Saves you like 3 to 5 minutes of food effectively.
Food and rested buff are a must yet I still forget lol and I’m still trying to get better at fighting the gjall without any fire meads lol although I still die! I think overconfidence is probably usually the reason I die, or you just get blind sided by too many enemies! Overall love the video
@SpazzyjonesGaming it's more about boxing the trolls in so they glitch out on the trees. Once that happens, use a bow to take them out from range. Also, if you lure them to a hill and set off a chain reaction from the top of said hill as they come up, that can cause heavy damage to them as well Messing with their auto pathimg a good tactic. In our games, we often chop down trees around our bases as a way to slow things down.
what is snapping button?its not in options.maybe in mistlands still havent and added in 0.117 ha! or not show as option or changeable in keybinds!Dorood Dear
I think the default is Q & E to cycle through (have to have hammer out and usually the build piece you are trying to place selected). Good for trying to build out a bridge, or keep a wall level / fill in lower blocks you can swing around to it snapping on something more convenient to place.
I was surprised by a raid while building today "The Stirred The Cauldron!" I have never heard of this one I didn't have any health food, just honey lmao. I died like 3 or 4 times.
@@SpazzyjonesGaming Yes but when talking about the best buff you should compare their effects. "The misthare surpreme is the best health food" is true, even though it might be hard to cook it.
Logging out to remove poison does seem like a cheat to me but it comes with a downside as it also removes your rested buff. Even though blobs are weak to blunt damage I like to take them out with a knife. I dodge roll backwards then use the knife secondary attack to close the gap and take a stab. Perhaps it is because of the s but the blobs attack looks like an aoe but as long as you roll you can stand in the cloud after the initial dodge and not get poisoned. I'm definitely going to have to try that dodge roll towards them now though. Thanks for that! Also I swear the game keeps track of your rested buff and tosses some extra mobs your way when you do not have it.
thats fair. Its certainly controversial but to your point also comes with a downside Glad you appreciated the dodge roll commentary! it can be tricky but does work great. I think you're right about the game being aware of your rested buff haha
The blobs do have an instant area of effect attack mate, trolls do too, dodge still works on it as long as you time it well. Rolling into them could get you hurt though as long as you got more than 1 blob, as the second one would hit you.
My first foray into the mistlands was entirely peaceful right up until the point I found my first infested mine. 4 regular seekers, a 1 star seeker, and a wandering gjall came at me the exact second I got close to it. The fighting drew in more wandering seekers. Then the other player and I got caught in the worst death loop I have ever experienced. It got so bad I was considering posting on reddit asking for some other viking to come and bail us out. Eventually, after many, many recoveries and deaths, we finally our gear closer to the edge of the mistlands, and I was able to sneak in, get my stuff back, and cover my friend while he got his stuff out, then we hightailed it out and questioned whether or not we wanted to continue progressing. We did stick with it, and subsequent runs were considerably less unlucky, but that was one hell of a first introduction.

Sure, lets attack these 10 billion dverg mages with stars in a 1 square meter room head on, i have the best gear and food, what's the worst that can happen? That was my biggest death spiral over a 1k+hours in Valheim, let me tell you that.
overconfidence is definitely my nemesis
Goddamn...Thats tough to read
Just got into Mistlands and i think i did good to respect those lads. I always try to aggro seekers near outdoor dvergr crates and it works half of the time i would say.
@@christopherbelanger4220 The most important thing is to not let your guard down. I respected them too, but i just got cocky and greedy. Never again. @@simplycinclair8979 a great way to play!
But skirting mobs in the plains and having a basic bow for the few deathsquitos (after the try with finewood bow) made it an adventure. . . 🤣
My biggest survival tip is dont panic.. recognise when you dont need to run and dont... Get that stamina up to fight or get put of there
Smart. Unfortunately, I panic all the time!
That's my secret Cap... I'm always panicking
Could not agree more!
Absolutely
Overconfidence is the biggest killer for me too as I am a gamer most of my life and a souls veteran and I can beat this game on normal difficulty with almost no damage, but hardest difficulty and mods that make mobs stronger is where I get over confident and say yolo this is easy and then get rekt! 😂😂
@@MSeroga YEP!
Thanks for the video.
i love knives too! Glad you enjoyed!
A touch of irony... I died while watching this video... Too little to late I'm afraid...
hahaah nO! Next tip: Don't play valheim while watching Valheim
Instead of wooden walls, you can make mudwalls next to trench later (you can add wood walls and stone on top of them for decor later)
Always carry portal mats when you explore.
"Don't enter a biome until you're properly equipped!"
Me, fighting Seekers in silver armor before I've even fought Bonemass, "Oh."
hahah been there
Well done video! My tip for survival - the buddy system. I've been seeing mobs prioritize tamed mobs over myself. Having a friend who can't hear a Gjall lead the way also works...
That is a good one. It s much easier if you have a pal
Good tip. Daggers are so good when you get that backstab bonus!
Also, if you use a portal when poisoned it resets the effect saved my butt a couple times today first discovering the swamps!
I actually didn't know this. Excellent tip. Thank you!
But I certainly die from this "feature" even when aware of it.
the elevation differences can be such a pain in the butt
I'm still very new so I'm glad to know that prioritizing stamina foods is actually a decent move, I'm learning how to block and dodge in my singleplayer world so my bf will stop telling me how I'm supposed to play lol
its definitely my preference! nice! Show your bf who is boss haha
A standing torch hidden with a wood beam should be the most resource efficient spawn protector IIRC
That’s a good one
@@sociallyferal4237 See? We're both doing what it takes to never die to trees.
Which I still haven't, by the way.

12:10, it is best to use campfires as mobs will not target them and they prevent spawns even when extinguished
great tip!
Smart! I need to give health pots another look
These are good ones too! Maybe will have to include in a future updated video!
I find trying to move the animals about to get them to the right base is too much of a hassle. Perhaps if they updated so 'follow me' works on portaling. Though perhaps the devs really don't want people to boss fight with their 60+ beastie friends. 😂
@@sociallyferal4237 wolves can follow you, and lox can be rode on! That can help! But my suggestion was for base defense
@@sociallyferal4237 true. It would be nice if animals could be leashed to then be brought through portals, I agree.

Awesome! Welcome to gaming and welcome to Valheim! It's an amazing game and I'm grateful you have been enjoying my videos 😊

Here's the thing with fall damage. I mostly die to it in the Mountains, but not because I don't have enough health. it commonly has terrain notorious for catching you on small spots but don't stop your fall. My group of friends refers to this as 'Bouncing' as you take multiple instances of fall damage at a time, usually a crippling 100 damage and a finishing 50-60.
very good point. I've died bouncing myself. A couple quick successive falls

I ALWAYS install the "slope combat fix" mod. It allows you to swing your weapon higher or lower based on the angle you are holding the camera. It's subtle at first, but once you get used to it, it means you no longer have to fight only on flat land, and you'll never want to play valheim without it.
ooh I gotta check that out
omg there is a mod for that? Awesome. That issue with combat on slopes drives me crazy, especially when using the spear. I cannot understand why the devs never fixed this and instead we need mods for this.

And rest up in your lvl 15 or more comfort hut so you can run even faster and get less tired as well as faster stamina regen
Food is essential
Agreed. Max rested is a must
Running into mountains with troll armour is EXACTLY what my dad does every time. tho he does it with skill and he doenst die often.
absolutely tank!
Lol
Agreed with all. I agree, being smart, patient, and prepared is the key
Ah so thats why i died so many times wearing deer cape and troll armor on swamp

Also, if you lure them to a hill and set off a chain reaction from the top of said hill as they come up, that can cause heavy damage to them as well
Messing with their auto pathimg a good tactic.
In our games, we often chop down trees around our bases as a way to slow things down.
@@jameshadland3217 smart! yeah you can really cheese them pretty easy if you know their autopathing well. Good tips!
I find campfires to be more aesthetically pleasing for preventing the spawns around base.
Fair
I found out long ago the way you survive.... keep your health up
I can't argue with that
I was destroying goblins one at a time with a bronze buckler because it was fun lol
boss
My solution is logging out, going to a different world, recover hp, and then going back
yeah that definitely works
Now i only need to remember these
hahaha
what is snapping button?its not in options.maybe in mistlands still havent and added in 0.117 ha! or not show as option or changeable in keybinds!Dorood Dear
It should show at the bottom of your screen when placing build pieces but I'm not sure if you can change the bind
I think the default is Q & E to cycle through (have to have hammer out and usually the build piece you are trying to place selected). Good for trying to build out a bridge, or keep a wall level / fill in lower blocks you can swing around to it snapping on something more convenient to place.
I was surprised by a raid while building today "The Stirred The Cauldron!" I have never heard of this one
I didn't have any health food, just honey lmao. I died like 3 or 4 times.
That is a nasty one. The bats in particular reek havoc on your tamed creatures if you have them
Look forward to "Hi Gjall" then...
3:23 "...gives you the best buff in the game" while talking about the rested buff. This is wrong. The best buff in the game BY FAR is the corpse run.
Except you have to die to get it!
@@SpazzyjonesGaming Yes but when talking about the best buff you should compare their effects. "The misthare surpreme is the best health food" is true, even though it might be hard to cook it.
@@chtyldubreux5950 thats fair
If you mean catching the hares, try with Amber staff. Works marvelously. 30 minutes and you have 20 of them .@@chtyldubreux5950
deathloop is sad but for the deathsquitos just use a bow
gotta be accurate
Problem in logginng off is that it removes the rested buff as well, it's the payment for cheating :)
exactly!
Atgeirs are a supplemental serving of clapperoni and cheese.
haha they sure are
Logging out to remove poison does seem like a cheat to me but it comes with a downside as it also removes your rested buff.
Also I swear the game keeps track of your rested buff and tosses some extra mobs your way when you do not have it.
thats fair. Its certainly controversial but to your point also comes with a downside
Glad you appreciated the dodge roll commentary! it can be tricky but does work great.
I think you're right about the game being aware of your rested buff haha
The blobs do have an instant area of effect attack mate, trolls do too, dodge still works on it as long as you time it well.
Rolling into them could get you hurt though as long as you got more than 1 blob, as the second one would hit you.
This wouldn't save you from a two star seeker with a bunch of zero star seekers from jumping you the second you enter mistlands after a long sail
Very things will! You have to be very skilled in combat to overcome that
My first foray into the mistlands was entirely peaceful right up until the point I found my first infested mine. We did stick with it, and subsequent runs were considerably less unlucky, but that was one hell of a first introduction.
i found out that when you use eiktyrs forsaken power and corpse run you use no stamina when running
oh yeah your stamina regen is crazy in that instance
Are you tired of getting bullied by your lack of skill in building? Dont worry the tutorial is here! So no one can bully your houses anymore in valheim! ua-cam.com/video/4F6RwyGEtFs/v-deo.htmlsi=lw8lruFE-WrSldsp
Noooo I embrace it! Wowwow, thats an old video but holds up today!
@@SpazzyjonesGaming see you on saturday and ye its crazy that the building has stayed same for 3 years...
@@Frostenblitz yeah it has for the most part. only real change I can think of is the cycle snapping you can do now
the best way to not die is being good at the game
not wrong
arrogance is my problem, then i get tilted with no stam and die, so i do same thing with three stam foods, then get 1 shot by a mosquito or wolf that snuck up on me :)
Similar to me. I'm always too overconfident and if gets me into trouble. I have found the Ashlands has forced me to become a much more conservative player
meadow mobs fear fire... just have your torch out and they wont melee you. They will throw rocks.
yes thats a good one. They will run from you when you have a torch
I think that works on the Greydwarves also. Trolls and Skeletons - not so much.
wait, what!?!? I've been playing Valheim for 1792+ hours and not once have I noticed there are different colored forks!!!? WUT! that alone is revolutionary, I can't wait to see what your actual tip is gonna be. and yes, I've been known to take a whole ass tree to the dome with the expected results more than a few times. Usually followed immediately with a what just happened then oh.. lol.
yeah! it wasn't part of the original game but they added it in the hearth and home update I believe. There is also a different color for eitr foods... but the color escapes me at the moment
Not me yet again falling off my roof and dying at home, never happened, what are you talking about?
hahah ... Who me? nahhh
Pro-Tip Number One: Turn down difficutly level and/or set enemies to passive. ;-)
Haha that definitely works
Respawn. Pick up anything and die again on the spot for a free Corpse Run buff to get your stuff.
Yeah, I'll call that a cheat.
I agree. Definitely not how the game was intended IMO
