Rupaul adds to my happiness. He is regal yet kind and loving. Always dropping jewels of wisdom. Much respect to him for helping many to become more open minded, accepting and loving of themselves and others.
RuPaul is a reader and listener of Eckhart Tolle. I'm oversimplifying here but essentially he believes the body is just a vehicle for the self and not actually the self. It's very fascinating and incorporates spiritual teachings from many different religions.
I remember watching Ru's talk show "20" years ago and it was EVERYTHING to me. Rupaul has done entirely too much for all of us she gets enough recognition but also NEVER enough recognition. shes always been there and shes always been the captain of the ship...whether she meant to or not. Thank you mama Ru for all you've ever done!
Ru Paul has been in, and out of drag for years now. I remember seeing Ru out of drag years ago. To him it's a show. It's a chance to put his art on. And quite honestly as a bi sexual person. I think he is one of the sexiest people alive male version, or female version! And don't even get me started on his mind..Mmm just yes!
Makes me a little sad that it took the show moving to VH1 for late night shows to start accepting Ru, but still better late than never, long live the queens!
Rupaul was over 20+ years ago after SuperModel was his only hit record, and his show on VH1 which lasted a hot second. He should be thanking his lucky stars that in 2008 Logo was created and gave him a show otherwise his career would have been a flash in the pan MANY years ago
"I never got over the fact that I LANDED in a human body" sorry but that just sounds wrong. Shade Dawson would freak out over that :D :D :D #aliens or #lizzardPeople #illuminati ? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Okay, Ru, I love that youre making genderqueer and trans people more visible, and making them a normal topic of conversation and TV. HOWEVER. I also feel that by supporting drag, an art form created in a time when trans people could not walk outside (and im not saying its okay now, simply that trans people are more visible and again, thank you, Ru), by supporting drag, you support certain stereotypes of trans people being gay men in dresses, and trans people being required to wear ridiculous makeup and 'pass' to be considered trans. And I don't appreciate either of those stereotypes being perpetuated.
To an extent, that is true. I can see how people would think that from that outside looking in. Drag Race is revolutionary in that it's putting exclusively LGBTQ+ people in the main stream, and that's amazing, sure. It shows the humanity of the contestants all the while not taking itself too seriously, and that's attractive to a lot of people who haven't seen this sort of thing before. You can see this as a good thing or a bad thing. (For example: I think the narrative for some of the English-challenged queens is kind of condescending.) On the flip side, it's the perfect way for less open-minded people to dip their toe into the water.. Because RPDR represents the contestants so well, the audience grows attached to their personalities. The audience becomes more educated about LGBTQ+ performers because their counter-culture is thought-provoking. It makes you want to learn more about the person behind the drag character, and you learn more about the trials and tribulations of being queer. A considerable amount of the contestants often speak out on social issues affecting the gay community. I guess what I'm getting at is.. RuPaul is a sneaky LGBTQ-culture-perpetuating fox x') lmao
Irina V, I dont understand what youre saying. I agree with Lyndis that this movement is doing a lot of good, but your comment confuses me. Here's why. You say that drag is not inherently trans, yet it involves people dressing opposite their assigned sex. You say there are people who are gender queer, yet in the next sentence use the designations men and women, binaries, not usually associated with including the entire spectrum. I'm not saying youre wrong, I am just asking for clarification at this point.
ianatc, I will blame other people for their uninformed views. And as I've said twice, I appreciate that drag is helping making trans people more visible and educating those who do not know about trans people. I am not demeaning the struggles of any LGBT+ person. to do so would be to demean myself as a trans person. I have performed drag. I have observed drag. Theres good that can come out of it. But to not address the ills that can come out of it as well, and to pretend that they dont exist and are not hurtful can cause greater damage.
lots of men who aren't trans want to be fabulous in some heels. let queens be queens honey. gender norms are bullshit. you do you and let Ru do Ru. people who don't understand (or arent willing to learn) the difference between trans and queens aren't people who are going to support you anyway.
You can count me as one of those, I guess. Between queens, and the damage i've seen 'sissy' kinksters inflict on trans perceptions amongst people, I am very sensitive to cis people dressing up as another gender (Nonbinary, opposite sex), and often making money off it. Theres nothing wrong with making a living by being the person you were meant to be, or by being an activist. But I have a personal problem with those who perpetuate old stereotypes, gain from it, and dont speak against said stereotypes.
This is so pitiful God do not make mistakes this is Lust not who God made you. This is sin and an abomination. He will burn in Hell God said a marriage is between a woman and a man not two men or two women. Not hating these are just facts.
love how he describes consciousness

Love this response - totally agree
What's disarming about it all is how natural and relatively down to Earth Rupaul actually is out of character. Goes to show we're all just folks.

sure jan
there is no god. it's just a fact. and women are not obligated to be with men, it's just a misogynistic construct. and men can be with men.
