Also, it's a different skill than acting, because acting, you have time to memorize the text, repeat multiple time, and it's more about getting into character. She only has one shot with this, so she can't rehearse the text! :p
@@ChevaliersEmeraude Good point. Also some people remember things best if they read them, some - if they listen to them, some people need to write thing down to remember (the actual act of writing does the trick). Ashley could be most comfortable with reading things but less so with listening, so it wouldn't impede her job as an actress. She is wonderful anyway, I like how she tells the stories and am looking forward to her turn to be the first. I wonder whether she plans to do it as Yasha or Pike though (hoping for Yasha).
Ashely was definitely the worst the first time. I think hunter beak was all her, and she was right after Matt. But other than that she wasn't actually that bad. Sam was definitely worst the last time, at least for overall consistency and I think Taliesin was the loser this time round. I absolutely LOVE how at 56:56 Ashley casually says "it's been awhile", and then Liam, Sam, Taliesin, Matt, and Marisha all proceed to sing Staind's "It's been awhile" to which Ashley clenches her fist in response
Oh ha you're right!! I actually thought in my first watch-through that Marisha came up with that one :D I think it all has to do with emphasis??? Also Taliesin could easily be asking himself where that came from hahahahaha
It's funny but when you record something that you only had one time to memorize it's easy to forget a detail one week later. However the whole cast missed it cause Sam was the one that expressed surprise initially.
People accuse Sam of being an agent of chaos in the Narrative Telephone but Liam's commitment to not just playing the character but playing the previous castmember playing the character is exceptional. This story completely fell apart after Ashley version and then the Liam-as-Ashley version.
Names are hard. That's about it xD Super hard to remember, especially when you follow someone who gives one person three names :D But I guess, it's going from Matts "Sudarah", to Travis "Adallah", and Ashley then set it to "Adulah" which then stuck for the rest
Ashley Johnson is just always the most adorable in this series. It's like watching bunnies trying to escape a garden pen when you're trying to feed them lettuce!

Orly
I love how Matthew changed the name of the woman everytime he mentioned her 😂
It killed me
Matt: Three different versions of Sudara
Travis: Yes. Adullah.
I laughed at it more then I'm supposed to.
I laughed so hard. I appreciate the non-effort.
I love how Ashley Johnson the award winning actress is the absolute worst at this.
Now that I've seen how hard this sort of thing is for her, that makes me respect the work she must have put in to Blindspot that much more.
I don't consider her that bad, just a bit insecure about herself, and it shows in the way she tells the stories. She's all "oh my god this is so wrong" and all that, and sure a little bit of it will be wrong every time, that's part of the game, but she's not THAT wrong usually (at least in the first 2 versions; I'm still watching this third one! lol). But, yeah, she ain't so bad!
This time she difinitly wasn't the worst. Travis messed up the story before her and she retold most of his mess quite accurate.
Ashely was definitely the worst the first time.
I think hunter beak was all her, and she was right after Matt.
But other than that she wasn't actually that bad. Sam was definitely worst the last time, at least for overall consistency and I think Taliesin was the loser this time round.
This one is actually the most even one, they all messed up some stuff and kept a lot.
Matt: "Uhhh what did they do at the carnival again? Well it's a Scanlan story so they must've looked through people's clothes!"
Ashleys version of romance: "There were just 2 lovers loving each other or whatever."
I, for one, am all for full force Matt Mercer destroying everyone’s hopes and dreams. Bring on Matt Mercer hard mode. Maybe after everyone else has gone, so he makes sure to make it worse than everyone else’s. XD
he went first tho and his was the easiest
Lierous Henry I mean after everyone else goes once, he goes again and actually tries to make it harder like everyone else has been doing. His first one was him making it easy for them.
Agreeable
Fantastic video as usual, hopefully everyone is doing well and keeping safe and healthy.
The moment I heard Matt ask if he could go again "gloves off," I instantly started feeling bad for Ashley xD
I did not forsee Taliesin becoming the kindly blind storyteller with mystical insight into passers-by, but I am here for it.
Is everyone just going to ignore how inside her head, Laura went, "Screw being Scanlan, I'm Shakaste now."
THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING TOO
Next episode, marisha will definitely ace a german accent. Her german accent is basically just caleb talking, we won't know the difference even if liam is absent.
Wait, how do you know that? I remembered that episode when Liam was gone, but I just thought they had him on audio only.
"oh ja," I remember that particular episode where we already had the delight of witnessing Marisha's take on Caleb.
Ohhhh ja...
oh hællø
Sam: "Sudara"
Matt: "Sudara, Sahara, Sareyna"
At least he knew it started with an S.
Adalla
ADULA
@@jeanief.6036 Travis comes in with "his love interest whose name was Adalla Dazeem..."
It's official: without his vest, Matt is powerless
Loot his corpse, take his vest!
(For those unaware, this is a reference and not a threat)
Props to Laura for bringing the story back into an actual narrative
Also, Sam's guitar case says cockstar. So very on brand
Travis really starting like "Scanlan Shorthalt here with a special TV offer"
Lol that’s exactly what I thought. I heard him start and thought “BILLY MAYS HERE!”
I'm the 69th like. I feel powerful
That's just Travis' energy
And now I need to listen to that Epic Rap Battle of History again.
"I'm Scanlan Shorthalt, and I'm here to tell you how to get rich quick."
Everyone: Telling the story as good as they can
Taelsin: Having visions of an alternative reality while trying to communicate it to one of his servants
As per usual
"ADULLAAAH! ADU-LOOOVE-YAAAAHH!"
Ahh Marisha, never change 🤣
Ashley:
"so he creates these spectacles that you can see things through"
so..... glasses, you just described regular glasses Ashley.
But she described them in a very adorable way :)
If she hadn't added "x-ray" everyone after would've been very confused. "So he is the inventor of glasses? Canon."
I was so glad for her when she circled back and said "x-ray." 😝
The fact that the Goliaths location was changed every time had me in stitches
Marisha's song is completely made up out of nowhere but now the best and most absolutely essential part of the story.
VonSnootingham Iconic tbh 😂
I get it stuck in my head absurdly often haha
I absolutely LOVE how at 56:56 Ashley casually says "it's been awhile", and then Liam, Sam, Taliesin, Matt, and Marisha all proceed to sing Staind's "It's been awhile" to which Ashley clenches her fist in response
This, in a weird way, shows me how historical accounts could change so much over time when proper documentation wasn't around yet.
I was thinking this same thing! I was thinking of using narrative telephone to explain to my students why historical accounts can be changed.
@@ForeverWog That is actually a really good idea! It would be a lot more fun than learning from a textbook.
Taliesin: they robbed casinos
next story
marisha: they robbed casinos
Taliesin: WOAH, where did that come from?
in his mind they were just cheating with the glasses. that's why he was surprised marisha went straight to robbery, even though he himself coined it
Oh ha you're right!! I actually thought in my first watch-through that Marisha came up with that one :D I think it all has to do with emphasis??? Also Taliesin could easily be asking himself where that came from hahahahaha
Keep in mind that entire thing was probably a fever dream to Taliesan.
It's funny but when you record something that you only had one time to memorize it's easy to forget a detail one week later. However the whole cast missed it cause Sam was the one that expressed surprise initially.
I love that the entire time Matt's story is playing, Sam is the best hype man like, "that's really good!" Honestly, yes.
People accuse Sam of being an agent of chaos in the Narrative Telephone but Liam's commitment to not just playing the character but playing the previous castmember playing the character is exceptional. This story completely fell apart after Ashley version and then the Liam-as-Ashley version.
I love how Liam attempts to imitate Ashley instead of Scanland
Everyone: Goliath
Marisha: Half-Orc
I can totally imagine her subconcious trail of association: Goliath = Grog = Travis = Fjord = Half-Orc, therefore: Goliath = Half-Orc
But she also honestly did the best song, so.
I'm still trying to figure out where Travis got Adora or Adulla or whatever from.
Names are hard. That's about it xD Super hard to remember, especially when you follow someone who gives one person three names :D
But I guess, it's going from Matts "Sudarah", to Travis "Adallah", and Ashley then set it to "Adulah" which then stuck for the rest
I love how no matter what, all of Ashley's characters are from the streets of New York.
I just realized that they joked about being on a whole other continent with this story, when they literally changed the continent in Laura's story.
"Oh ja, I got a story. I will tell it to you now, IN THE ORIGINAL ZEMNIAN"
Everyone else: SCHEISSE!
Yeah, that is one of my 6 languages.
They were one person away from them being a Gnome couple named "Paula" and "Abdul."
Ashley Johnson is just always the most adorable in this series. It's like watching bunnies trying to escape a garden pen when you're trying to feed them lettuce!
You know it's going to be a good one when the second person to go changes a name 3 times within the span of two minutes.
travis at 44:25 saying "wow this is a ... choice" when laura starts her retelling is sending me
I love that Sam's just delighted and overjoyed by Matt's retelling
Such a proud father!! haha
Travis' 'Wooow, this is a CHOICE' when it was Laura's turn left me rolling on the floor :'DDD
I've only watched 22 seconds of this so far but I just have to say that Marisha's hair looks AMAZING
omg it's ginny di akhds lksdjf
Stahp it. You right but Stahp it. Comment on the story bruh
IKR
her makeup looks are iconic
YES IT DOES
Sam: Paulay invented glasses that lets you see through solid objects!
Ashley: Paulay creates glasses that you can see stuff through!
Paulay invented glasses.
Paulay robbed casinos, man!!
the non-cr spouses of everyone must be entertained when they overhear these recollections
"YOU ORDER FOOD!" Taliesin has done this before I see.
Be still my beating heart ...!
Towards the end it was like a drunk guy who'd heard Scanlan's story from several tables over, and is trying to remember it the next day...
I guess you could say...
They ended up in a "Paulie-amorous relationship" ;)
SUPER UNDERRATED COMMENT.
: Keyleth casts Polymorph :
BEST COMMENT EVER!!
Solid pun in context. A++
Daaaaaamn.
You Sir, You won.
Taliesin at 50:37 : “I have never felt so guilty in my life”
Taliesin during his round:: *carefully considers the cruelest combination of chaos to crush his comrades*
The irony is beautiful 😂
I see the c’s
@@peterstarke7533 😉
Alliteration alone already ellavates an allegory, although alternatively: Rhyming be hard bro!
So props to you
@@SkyP9812 Haha thanks 😂
The phrase "Wow. This is a choice." says so much with so little.
As someone who has social anxiety, I am so proud of how Ashley puts herself through this over and over again because I can't even imagine being put under that kind of pressure.
As someone who loves how badly she messes up and how adorable her reactions are, I hope they never stop doing this because these videos never fail to be the highlight of my day.
Same
The faces Ashley Johnson makes in these are absolutely golden!
I'm with you. I don't think I could ever do this. It is also a big testament to how safe she feels with her friends.
i love it that they moved Sam to the beginning after singling him out as "the disruptor" and suddenly all of them are just the worst
A small criticism for the editor: With this format, the narrator doesn't need to have the biggest out of the 7 screens the second time around. The cast's reactions are of much more interest at that point - but their screens are so tiny!
I second that. The regular zoom gallery view is nice for the second time around.
Yes this is a GREAT idea.
Agreed. We get the full view first time through. I know all I wanted to see as everyone got to see Sam showcase the start was how the people at the end reacted to the original story they definitely didn't hear before.
I wish I could like this comment multiple times
same. Trying to see all their tiny reactions
