Cleric of the trickster god, tricks a thousand-year-old hag into reversing a curse for a cupcake and a friendly conversation. This is the stuff of legend.
I love Matthew's reactions to the party being creative. Matthew was so clearly impressed with Laura, but also so very disappointed that it work out and stopped some of his plans with the hag... 😂
Also a testament to Matt as a DM when he says that despite being thoroughly destroyed that he is also incredibly proud of her as a player for her creativity and getting over on him.
I have been on both ends of this kind of cleverness (not nearly at this level, of course.) As a player, it is AWESOME, as a DM it is also awesome. I don't mind having my plans ruined at all if something like this happens.
It make sense rhat Jester becomes a bad bitch when someone causes her friends unhappiness.. I mean her whole thing is making others smile and be happy so if someone ruins that she goes dark. I could totally see her going Dark Willow if someone killed a friend of hers
I hope that the Hag would stalk them like the Rakshasa, but her sole goal would be to abduct Jester and keep her around, since she’s the best company the Hag ever had. And when the Hag asked Jester what she wanted the most, Jester replied with ‘just your company’ and that’s the kind of loophole a tricky trickster like the Hag would exploit.
the way Laura worded it sounded to me like lifting the curse was as recompense for the "favor" of their company, which the M9 already lent - the "deal" is done, similar to the deal with the goblins.

1000 years later during mass at the church of the traveler an epic poem is sung of the legend of jester, the first high priestess of their god tricking a hag into breaking a curse for a cupcake.
This was so impressive that even other gods came into the Pantheon of Exandria and was like “Holy shit” and Arty is like “THATS MY FUCKING CLERIC RIGHT THERE”
Beau: I will do anything, even give up all my happiness just to make sure one of you is happy Nott: I will prolong a war and put millions of people in danger to get what I want Yasha: I will start any fight I have to in order to help those I care about Jester: Itookcareofitletsgo! (Joyfully skips away) It would be hilarious to me if Jester never tells the team that she tricked the hag and pretends she made a horrifying sacrifice Fjord: What did you do? What did she take? Jester: ooooooooooo wouldn’t yoooooou like to know. It was like really bad you guys, for real though ya know? Like it was real bad and I’m so sad like forever now. (She says with a giant smile)
To be fair to nott, It's not getting what she wants. She has nothing to offer, the hag ALREADY has her misery, and she specifically asks if there's a way to stop the others from paying. So to me it's not about getting what she wants, it's stopping the others from paying. Especially since she knows she can't just tell them not too, they Wouldn't listen. Then after making the offer she's the only one who just tells the others. I think she was trying to promise the hag so much she wouldn't look at the others then cheat it out of her by getting her friends to stop her. She knows they'd never let her sabotage the peace talks, so the first thing she does is remove her own chance of subterfuge. Not an act I condone by any stretch, but not what it seems.
I just realized that at 5:50 when Laura was scrolling through her character sheet looking for her cupcake, Sam SAW what she was going to pull out. So when Marisha was going to have Beau step in, that’s when Sam piped up and said “let her do her thing.” He KNEW what power move she was about to pull 👀
She did that twice, if you'll notice. "Do we need to send Nott in?" "Nah, it's fine, I'll break it now." "Does the door do that thing?" "Oh, right, you can go."
SHE.KNEW.EXACTLY.WHAT.SHE.WAS.GOING.TO.DO. She walked in there with the expressed intent to make this plan happen. It was glorious! It's a combination of her charm, street smarts and how she read Matt's reactions, she played him like a fiddle and you could hear his disgruntled voice when he realised she played him. That move was brave, and sly and devious and f**kin' epic!!!!
@@elgostine yeah, I just realized that. At least it's not 2e. I grew to hate percentile dice very much because of that. God this could literally be a moment of legend. Imagine 1000 years later during mass at the church of the traveler an epic poem is sung. When jester the traveles first high priestess tricked a hag into accepting half a moldy cupcake for her friends freedom

Liam’s expression was interesting to because you can see the moment when Laura/Jester starts showing her hand, his mind clicks in completely to what she was doing. Playing a rogue before, I bet he was wondering if Jester had a trick up her sleeve to play going in. Liam is one of the few players at the table who doesn’t underestimate what Jester can do. She worships a trickster which is about as close to a rogue without actually being one. I think Sam also knew Laura/Jester was doing a bait and switch tactic on the hag close to the end.

This is, and I say it without any attempt at hyperbole, one of those once in a campaign, maybe even once in a lifetime moments, where a prepared and capable DM is completely and utterly outfoxed by one of his players. This sequence should be mandatory viewing for both DM's and players. For the former on how to be graceful in defeat and not use DM fiat to undue a players plan, and for the latter because of you pay attention to all your gear and abilities, you too can achieve a crowning moment of awesomeness. Kudos to Matt for the way he handled it, the other players for staying out of it, and to Laura for being an absolutely stonking good player
I feel like throughout this whole interaction Laura was slowly and deliberately throwing jabs to get Matt off his game. Seriously he couldn't keep up with the chaotic energy that is Jester.
You hear that foreboding, Dark Souls style background music? The bell tolling just before Matt rolled the dice? The change in the tone of Jester’s voice when she describes the modified memory? That’s what a boss encounter sounds like. Jester wasn’t fighting a boss, Jester WAS the boss fight.

You guys want some fun. Just keep using the 10 second skip forward & just watch all of Talesin's facial expressions throughout the video. It bring me so much joy.
Remember Matt's "point of order" mention of his roll being a 2. I think the dice itself decided the moment for everyone. Now the consequences of Jester's legendary epic troll? That'll have to come at a later time.
About a fourth of the way through the clip, she presses something on her iPad (presumably the dust of deliciousness in her inventory) then turns it slightly towards Sam and leans against him to draw his attention. One master of the art of DM bamboozling sharing the scam with another before its execution.
Taliesin's reactions are all of my love XD When Larua starts laughing and he is just SHOOK. In all his centuries he has never before seen true eldritch horror until he saw this axis of chaos beside him XD
Laura is a masterly manipulator when she wants to, she even uses her hands to gesticulate more than usual. Who else could pull this on Matt? Poor Travis, that gentle giant is being steamrolled whenever she chooses to. And fortunate Travis, that nice guy has a fantastic and sweet wife. As I watch it again, while all the others are laughing at and taken by her innocent sillyness, at around 05:00 both Travis and Marisha realises she is up to something. But take a moment to enjoy and admire how masterfully Matt rolls with it and says "yes" even as he realises how thoroughly he is being played. He still plays it objectively and allow her scheme. They both excelled in this encounter.
I love how she plays Jester off in the end. A big smile, acting like everything is okay with the. "Lets Go, Your good, come on, Lets go." But then has a moment of, shits about to hit the fan, with the "Lets get The Fuck OUt of here.
Incredible work by the legendary Laura Bailey here, continuing her legacy of brilliance that she began back at the Duergar Warcamp. (Referring to the Hallucinatory Terrain idea). As to the Scanlan comparisons I would like to point something out. Scanlan was obviously capt. clutch in C1. He saved the [arty numerous times with slick counters and mind control and such. In those cases though he usually just had to be smart and not tell Matt was doing (sometimes not even that). The one time he had to be sneaky was with 6th level counterspell in E114. The one where he had to get closer while pretending to forget his job. Not as elaborate as Jester but still awesome. His real E114 genius though was actually his Simulacrum. By refusing to bring it in at first he kept it from dying to the first Meteor Swarm - which he knew was coming - allowing him to get a couple of extra counterspells in before it was dispatched. Effectively casting two counterspells a turn for two turns which was why the battle went so well for them. Have a cupcake day ! : )
The amazing thing about this entire group is that they know how to work off each other. Taliesin was about ready to interrupt as well, but they both backed away to let Laura play it through. Partly because Sam said to let her to her thing (If you watch his expression right before I think he saw Laura looking up the Dust and knew she had plan :) )
Throwback to when I thought Laura and Liam were actual siblings back at the start of campaign 1. Sam sat next to Laura and I think he must have seen something and accordingly said to let her do her thing. But Liam is just sat there and his expression has that "I know my twin is up to sth"-look on it. A remnant of cr1? I don't know, but it's radiating sibling energy. It's very "I'm not sure what yet, but I know you're up to *something*, and I'm here for it"
Oh yeah. Even Caleb and Jester are like two sides of a Scanlan coin, Caleb with tactical magic and Jester with chaos and fuckery. They're twins in a different way.
This was truly an epic move! So many facepalms around the table then Laura pulls out her plan. She is a freaking amazing player and Matt masterfully deals with the sudden curveball he gets thrown. Watching it again, I wonder if Sam saw something looking over at Laura's sheet, because he gets a big grin and keeps people from interfering. Or if he knew Laura was setting something up because he's done the same. (I've seen the video of his counter-spell move in the campaign 1, that was incredible too!) Travis' look as he's watching her is great too, you can tell he's thinking "Yeah, my wife is up to some mischief." :) Marisa processing of what Beau just did is really noticeable too, I'm glad she could hold onto that for one of my favorite CR scenes, the group discussion in the shack in the next session.
8:50 can someone just photoshop matts face out of that so i can use it to represent all those times when the party does something that negates many hours of planning?
Can anyone edit the audio to make jester say “ You enjoyed my company so very much, that you agreed to end Nott’s curse, because you liked hanging out so much.”
Knowing that real life Laura Bailey is all about negotiating a better price for costly items and general good money management, this is the most peak Laura Bailey shit the internet may ever see. Imo she deserved to have her “god” come out and reveal himself for who he is after this, if not ascend to his level altogether

Yeah, I think that's partially why she's so guarded at the end. People say she lost her chance to have a moment as Beau and that's her reaction, but I think she's already thinking about what's going to happen next with an angry hag after Jester soon.
@@Search4Views true, like Laura said as long as someone doesn't know it was casted they'd never think of fixing it, so only choices are nott never runs into the goblins and they realize it, or kill the goblins so no one but the party knows.
Beau’s so manly, more like oh dear m new end husband is sad... 😂
Considering it’s Beau, more like she was “oh no my new dnd husband”
@@cptdeadpool9939 No the Hag absoultely knows something is wrong, Hags by their nature are super crafty and cunning so suddenly having gaps in her memory after this stranger showed up is going to set off all the alarms. The scary thing is the Hag isnt stupid and isnt going to rush off to attack Jester when she has 6 other very powerful adventures with her, shes going to get her revenge in a diffrent way and givin Jester hasnt been very secret about who she is my guess is a rather nasty guest will be paying a visit to Port Damali
You guys want some fun.
Just keep using the 10 second skip forward & just watch all of Talesin's facial expressions throughout the video.
It bring me so much joy.
You leave when Fiona Fancypants allows you to leave :D
🤣🤣🤣
Remember Matt's "point of order" mention of his roll being a 2. I think the dice itself decided the moment for everyone.
Now the consequences of Jester's legendary epic troll? That'll have to come at a later time.
"John Wick thinks he's pretty slick with that pencil trick"
-Jester probably
Sam saw what was on her iPad. He knew what she was going to pull the entire time.
About a fourth of the way through the clip, she presses something on her iPad (presumably the dust of deliciousness in her inventory) then turns it slightly towards Sam and leans against him to draw his attention. One master of the art of DM bamboozling sharing the scam with another before its execution.
I love how right when Matt ends the episode Tal turns and immediately says "YOU FUCKING BEAST!"
I love how sam stopped marisha from stopping this
Travis' face at 7:40 shows how impressed he is with his wife. It goes to show how much he admires her intelligence and cunning. Damn I love those two.
Shout out to Second Place: Fjord dropping his pact with his deity
shout out to the real second place: the golden dick
A good clever move, but this won't rest, ripples my friends.. every action has a consequence.
I wonder what comes next
It's going to be such a better story than just going to the hag's and having a tough fight
taliesin's face is a show in itself. it really looked like fear, right then.
Taliesin's reactions are all of my love XD When Larua starts laughing and he is just SHOOK. In all his centuries he has never before seen true eldritch horror until he saw this axis of chaos beside him XD
Lilith Henry Laura is a ball of charming cuteness more like it.
09:07 Matt's expression says it all. He wants to be so mad, but that's just too funny at the same time!
So happy Sam stopped Marisha from knocking on the door!
I love how she plays Jester off in the end. A big smile, acting like everything is okay with the. "Lets Go, Your good, come on, Lets go." But then has a moment of, shits about to hit the fan, with the "Lets get The Fuck OUt of here.
Travis is just looking at Laura and falling in love all over
Incredible work by the legendary Laura Bailey here, continuing her legacy of brilliance that she began back at the Duergar Warcamp.
i LOVE Marisha but i am SO GLAD she didnt continue trying to interrupt
The amazing thing about this entire group is that they know how to work off each other. Taliesin was about ready to interrupt as well, but they both backed away to let Laura play it through. Partly because Sam said to let her to her thing (If you watch his expression right before I think he saw Laura looking up the Dust and knew she had plan :) )
This woman is gonna be gunning for Jester after this when she realises what happened....
Or take notes. Hard to tell with a move that good.
Justin Carson
Fae are fickle. She might respect the play. Or most likelly hunt then down
You mean IF she finds out!
If... If is good....
Oh yeah. It’s going to happen at some point for sure.
It's gonna take something HUGE to top this moment.
The subtext I got was:
Travis: THATS MY WIFE!
LOL Matt is so pissed! Yet still proud!
So everyone, how does it feel to be married to Laura Bailey?
I'm so waiting for fanarts of this moment! :D
My favorite part of this is Taliesin looking around frantically like he's expecting someone to come and stop it
Laura Bailey 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I bow down to you mam. What a baller move!!!
Antonio Nuñez She’s such a cute sweetie I love how charming she is in real life.
I think Jester just earned a spot as the Traveler's Supreme Disciple because of this Fucking Legendary play
0:47 Travis didn't realise how right he'd be with that "anti-misery" 👀
I am so glad I didn't watch this live; my scream would have woken the whole neighborhood.
Matt's face as he's probably thinking about how a No-Handed Jester would get by only to get a new face journey.
Jester fed sweets to a witch in the swamp... AMAZING !!! Absolutely legendary !
This was Laura’s peak as a player. And one of Jester’s peaks as a character. Love her 💙
I love Ashley's and Taliesin's reactions. I just imagine them being great friends and it warms me inside.
They're twins in a different way.
misery really does love company, and just deserts
This is the Odysseus “No man” level of trickery, without the arrogance at the end. Well fucking done...
(I've seen the video of his counter-spell move in the campaign 1, that was incredible too!)
Travis' look as he's watching her is great too, you can tell he's thinking "Yeah, my wife is up to some mischief." :)
Marisa processing of what Beau just did is really noticeable too, I'm glad she could hold onto that for one of my favorite CR scenes, the group discussion in the shack in the next session.
8:50 can someone just photoshop matts face out of that so i can use it to represent all those times when the party does something that negates many hours of planning?
Don't worry, Sam will probably have a shirt of it at some point.. :-)
The one where Laura's god play turns Taliesin into the Magikarp guy.
*The most epic moment of campaign 2 SO FAR...
Can anyone edit the audio to make jester say “ You enjoyed my company so very much, that you agreed to end Nott’s curse, because you liked hanging out so much.”
Taliesin quietly losing his mind in the background is fucking wonderful
Oh no! Jester! you didn't... Yup you did.
BEST MOMENT IN C1 OR C2 !!! Laura Bailey just won D&D, ladies and gentlemen.
matt's face when he says laura succeded is so fucking priceless
In this moment, I wanted to give Laura a high five and five Marisha a hug. That was SOOO INTENSE
10:07 - being able to laugh and act on demand never seemed so scary until now. like damn boss girl @.@
Anthony D. It was adorable and she did it to keep Matt on the right path. Not let him second guess his decision
Knowing that real life Laura Bailey is all about negotiating a better price for costly items and general good money management, this is the most peak Laura Bailey shit the internet may ever see. Imo she deserved to have her “god” come out and reveal himself for who he is after this, if not ascend to his level altogether
Matt basically being like "She will remember this *at some point*" has my stomach upset. like The Trickster better fucking protect Jester from this fucking Hag I swear to the Gods.
Not even the power of Jester's cupcake, just straight up the power of Jester!
5:57 Sam realize the ballsy move Laura was about to do
