damn - that is one brave performance - there are but a small handful of singers of ANY era who are brave enough to even attempt to sing this and fewer still who can actually pull it off - hard to follow in the vocal footsteps of someone like Daltry on such a demanding song - a legend song - I was truly nervous for him risking so much but ... ... ... he nailed it
It wasn’t a one off thing. They’ve performed that song for years (their version is on the soundtrack for the movie Reign Over Me from 2007) and they’ve done covers of The Who since the beginning. Eddie Vedder’s favorite band, that he grew up listening to and singing along to, so he’s had some practice.
Oh my gosh, I can't believe I found this... I was about to leave because I needed to catch a train when I heard this start and because it was close to the end of the night, I was able to sneak to the side of the stage. Amazing performance.
who would have thought that Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam would be doing this song in 2010. to go from 1989 to this song. OMG, it is so awesome. Pearl Jam rocks!!!! Eddie going from pumping gas to being the star that he is. I am getting goosebumps.
‘Who would have thought’? They’ve done covers of The Who songs since the formation of Pearl Jam in 1990. It’s Eddie Vedder’s favorite band that he grew up listening to. They released this song in 2007 on the soundtrack for the movie Reign Over Me.
I know for The Who for a long time, but I never listened them, until I did it few days ago, and first song I was listening is this, and first thing what I think is that I think about how it would be that Eddie sing this song. And then, here I am, and.. I'm speechless... One and only Eddie Vedder!
Why compare. He does the song in his version and it kicks ass. What I especially like is that doing these types of songs keeps their spirit alive and god only knows we need to keep it going. Well done Eddie, keep spreading the love.
Coming from Brighton england the quadraphenia capital this had to be more than good and I wasn't let down cooking brilliant well done Mr v and the boys
A most powerful rendition and a fitting tribute to Roger Daltry. If you have seen the movie, you will know how fitting this song was for the title track.
As a longtime PJ fan (with Vedder being the reason I started singing in the first place), his performance of this song just blows me away. I don't think his voice has hit me as hard since I first heard "Ten" in the early 90's, and that was a life changing experience for me as a teenager so to still have that sort of impact is just incredible.
Yeah, consult Daltrey &Townsend so they can tell you what Vedder fans they are. They can tell you about the mutual respect & admiration that exists between the two great bands! It's not a competition it's a tribute.
Saw them do this at MSG 1978 and played this for" Keith" first tour after he died Roger sang this running in place the whole song crazy and singing this !!! Boston your my Home dirtywater baby
This is one of the best things I've heard in a long time! It's the perfect example for why Eddie has no prime. I mean for sure, 1991-1994 he had the most Volume in his voice, but I mean this has something special about it, too!?😀😍
Eddie kicks fucking ass on this song. Am a big freak of THE WHO. Saw The WHO 5 times. This song only two times live with The WHO. They said years ago it was just to much to perform this song live. But with all the new technology they have been able to do it. Back in the early 90s the who started doing it at most shows. But PJ does it fucking great and of them. The drummer is awesome guitar player fantastic and of course Eddie kicks ass. ROCK ON WORLD

Simply the best rock band post 1990. Their own portfolio is phenomenal. And then they can cover The Who, Neil Young, The Beatles, Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan et al. Amazing song. Amazing band.
I was at this concert when I was 13, this was one of a handful of songs they played that i knew. it was absolutely amazing! I'm seeing PJ again at Fenway Park in august and watching the videos from this concert has me psyched to see them again!!
Yeah, so a very BIG moment for me. Blessed I am, to have been here, 15 0r so rows back, left side. I wasn't even supposed to be there. I had tickets for the next night. I drove down there, solely to donate my time, to a Wishlist Foundation fund raiser. When the fundraiser was over, I was offed a seat at the show. How could I refuse?
Has to be one of the best covers ever of any song.
Yep…….and the Heart cover is equally as good !!
WOW!! Definitely the best!!
It was indeed quite good!
Chris Cornell's version will give you chills.
It was. Was there. Had an orgasm during it. Nothing more be said.
I applaud the fact that Pearl Jam chose not to earmark their version but play it straight (for the most part) Lots of respect here.
Such a powerful voice, and he makes it look effortless.
One of my top three PJ covers. Ed really shows the power in his voice after all these years. Doing Roger proud.
